Hotel De La Ville

Breakfast was phenomenal. Staff were fantastic, very helpful and cheery: made a restaurant reservation, explained where to go in the city for different things etc. A delightful feature is the happy hour hors d’oeuvres - it was so welcome after a long day of travelling, when you haven’t the energy to go out immediately. No USB outlets next to the bed. No outlet next to the bed. A design flaw, as I had to have my phone charge overnight but also needed it next to me to answer. Very small room (single). I am petit and there was barely enough room part in the bathroom. TV had a large red square in the middle when on (admittedly I didn’t take the time to call the front desk) No robe

The location was amazing, the staff were friendly, but efficient and professional, and the decor was smart. The air-conditioning was very effective in the heatwave and the superior double was spacious.

There are no scenic views and the standard double room was quite compact.

The staff were fantastic. The breakfast one of the best out of 6 weekly stays at other hotels in Northern Italy including some that were 5star hotels .. Great Location on one of the best street in Florence. Very quiet. Evening aperitifs beautifully presented. Highly recommend this hotel .

Room larger than expected and beds very comfortable. Staff very attentive and helpful. We walked most places in Florence and hotel conveniently located for that. Hotel had a daily "American" happy hour for which they set out various canapes and finger foods. Nice European breakfast buffet.

Room is comfortable and quite large, two comfy chair and a table in addition to a desk also with chair. Breakfast was excellent, but of cause still marred by some covid restrictions, the staff in the reception were extremely friendly and service-minded, recommending where to eat (success!!) and getting a taxi for us in the morning in less than five minutes.

We got a voucher with 20% on drinks in the bar, turns out the bar is extremely expensive with end price higher than out in town even after the 20% discount, and the bar does not have money so you are required to go to the reception for procedure there if you want to pay cash.

The location is IMPOSSIBLE to beat. The hotel was just reopening after 2 years being closed due to Covid when we stayed there, and we could never have guessed: everything went smoothly and the staff was extremely professional and diligent. The traditional decoration may not be to some people's taste, but I found it beautiful, especially in a setting like Firenze. The room was larger than expected, and I had never seen a ceiling so high in a hotel room before, it really felt like sleeping in a special place (a palace?). Impeccable cleanliness.

The breakfast room gets a bit crowded on certain days/times, so it is best to avoid rush hour if you can.

The staff was gracious and helpful. We had a package sent from Sardegna that they received for us. Also, recent knee surgery required a daily application of ice which they gladly supplied upon request. They were able to direct us to a hardware store as well.

We found breakfast somewhat limited, but breakfast is not generally respected in Italy. An omelette station would have been been appreciated.

Location, location, location. Aside from that, the bed was very comfortable and the electric blinds were much appreciated. Breakfast was excellent and the overall service was great. Also, very much liked the bar/happy hour.

Being very picky here...overall the hotel is a bit dated. There's some carpet that's past it's prime. The elevators are tiny. There's no fitness room or pool or any of that sort of thing. But...it's absolutely beautiful and you couldn't ask for a better spot to see the art and architecture that defines Florence.

The staff was incredible. They were more than willing to help with whatever you needed. We specially liked our bartender Achmed. He was very friendly and fun. He took excellent care of us along with Natalia who helped us with planing tours and such.

We did have issues with the air conditioning not working as expected along with very tight area in the bath to maneuver in. The bathtub was also very hard to keep from soaking the floor outside the tub when showering and fan in the bath did not work.

The hotel location was on the nicest street in Florence. Very accessible (within 10 min) to almost anywhere. While the hotel displayed four stars, it acted like it was a 5 star hotel. Rooms were quaint and gorgeous.

While rooms were nice, there was no tissue paper, there were no "free" water bottles that you expect from hotels, there were no iron/ironing board
