Dukes The Palm, a Royal Hideaway Hotel

Clean hotel & rooms cleaned daily with fresh towels & water, really friendly & helpful staff (reception, pool area, security & restaurant staff - they were all lovely!) easy check in & check out process, great views from the swimming pool & gym, gym is open 24/7, good temperature of pool, the lazy river was lovely & relaxing, sun beds always available as well as parasols, delicious & varied food at all meal times, Kyber Indian restaurant was delicious! Shopping mall opposite hotel which had Waitrose, coffee shops etc which was handy & only 30 mins in a Uber to the Dubai Mall & Burj (always easy getting an Uber!)

Expensive drinks from the pool bar (£12 for two very average coffee’s!), toilets by the pool felt dirty & didn’t match the decor of the rest of the hotel, air con didn’t go below 21 degrees in our room (1112) & on the Saturday lunchtime we weren’t allowed to sit outside for lunch due to an event going on which was a shame as inside was very warm which wasn’t ideal with a young baby & it felt like the event was prioritised over hotel guests!

Staff from vallets, receptionists, cleaners, restaurant and pool were lovely. Restaurant great, friendly and helpful. Room clean and linens lovely, bed very comfy. Found choice and freshness of products was great. Had told the hotel it was my husbands birthday and they went all out, balloons, petals, cake with his photo on, brilliant. Pool area is gorgeous, very comfy sunbeds. Service was great poolside. Lazy river was fun.

I wouldn’t pay for upgrade to room with balcony again as there was no views despite us having two balconies and they were dusty, the glass balustrade glass was filthy possibly after last weeks storm?

The big issue here in UAE is that this people dont trust in people. So they always take money, data or everything that they can from you in advance. They took from me 500 dollars from my credit card in advance... they said then we wil return it when you leave, of course they didnt know how to do it or failed system or whatever... there is always issue with this kind of things. Now i have to pay my credit card and the refound didnt arrive yet. I wonder if next time I can stay in the hotel and pay the room 14 days after leave it. "I am sure that they will allow that" hahahaha

located on a palm, the hotel is easily accessible from everywhere by taxi, has a private beach and a lovely infinity pool and fortunately there were always some sun beds available no matter what time of the day you arrive. our room had a beautiful sea view with balcony, although we did find it too dark and not spacious enough. we were quite happy with the breakfast buffet variety, however the service could sometimes be better as it was getting very busy and the waiter staff were running around feeling stressed. the room was cleaned every day, everyone is very welcoming and polite. there is also a couple of bars on the hotel territory which come in handy. would definitely return. :)

The food here is amazing, the staff are brilliant. It was my 2nd time staying here, first time the beds were extremely comfortable, however this time my back ached a little. Not sure if they’ve changed mattresses.

I’d prefer it if they put signs on the food saying if it was vegetarian or suitable for vegans

The hotel was really wonderful.

We have not been informed in advance -while the reservation- that we have to pay deposit. This is even not part of the booking.com description or hotel policy, but would not be a problem if they handle professional. We have already checked out from four rooms almost six weeks ago and still have not received back the deposit! I keep writing emails but still no useful answer from the hotel staff or finance department. They keep sending standard answers to me without real actions.

I read many negative opinions about the hotel and was so stressed that even thought about changing the hotel. And I'm really glad I didn't. Firstly, we had two balconies in our room and just loved them. They were really big and had outstanding views. The room was comfortable, although it had strange shape. I read many opinions that there weren't enough sunbeds and never had this problem. There were a lot of empty ones on the beach all day long and although it was difficult to find ones close to the pool, there were also many available around it. If you even had problems to find any, the staff did their best to help you. They even carried our stroller through the sand, as we were there with 2 small kids. We also used the swimming pool after the sunset and it was perfect idea, as there were up to 5 people. Lazy river is awesome. Beach and pool are wonderfull as well, even better that you can see on the photos :). We also loved the location. It's much calmer on the palam than for example in Marina. There is Nakheel Mall opposite the hotel, where you can buy literally everything (including alcohol;)). On the other hand, it costed us up to less than 20 AED for a taxi to the Metro Station. Btw, we never had problem to get a cab, there were always few outside the hotel - every time public one, noone ever offered us any "lxury private car". We also used the "Dukesy Mini Club". Our son loved it. There were hudreds of toys to play and he got a nice gift and was so happy :). 2 hours there were for free. I have no idea if it was per stay or per day, as we were there only on the last one of our stay. Room was clean perfectly. Consierges (Julius and Temburek) were really helpfull and we solved some problems thank to them :). Really great stay :)

Free WiFi in the room was really slow. We couldn't even call on WhatsUp. You could buy better one for some $$$, but in my opinion 5* hotel should offer good quality of Internet for free.

Breakfast was rich and location very accessible no traffic

The espresso machine and the phone were not functioning and we told them the first day we arrived; we checked out and still not fixed.

liked the proximity to the pool staff were excellent and went the extra mile

if staying any longer than few day breakfast is very repetitive, and busy queues for eggs etc not done this since school, same for evening buffet precooked food sitting on hot plates and at £70 this is expensive and for me not worth is, can’t get near pool at weekend and people pay to come in and place is mobbed and queues outside and in, not my idea of a relaxing holiday, tvs need updated as can’t even watch the news unless it’s in arabic, which is fair enough but catch up in other languages would be better as done on most other hotels
