The location was great. Close to a retail park and buses run every 10 minutes or so if you wanted to travel to Oxford for the day. On arrival the receptionists were polite and welcoming. The foyer area as you walk in is modern, spacious and really clean. We booked a family room for a long weekend. It was reasonably priced and again very clean. During our stay we used the dining area. We were shown to a table and didn’t have to wait long for service. The waitress Molly was very polite and professional and couldn’t do enough for our family. The evening meal food was delicious and hot, which is important. The following morning, breakfast had a wide variety of food choices and again was excellent!! Overall one of the best restaurants I’ve ate in during a stay in a hotel. I would definitely recommend staying there. We are returning to Abingdon again next year and will definitely be booking to stay here again.

The only really slight problem we all found as a family was: The mattress’s were a little hard and uncomfortable for us, but I put that down to personal preferences.

Staff were all very helpful and courteous. Everyone seemed very experienced in dealing with the day to day running of the hotel and dealing with guests. Hotel was well maintained and clean. Foyer design was interesting with clever use of space and focal points. Hotel location was easy to locate using Sat Nav. Car park seemed plentiful with multiple electric charge points and disabled spaces for those that need them. Close location to other stores and businesses if you need to go shopping. Hotel overall was very clean. Rooms was a good size (I had a double room) with ample wardrobe space for a weekend stay. Room included all the amenities needed for a weekend. Several hot beverage options, water glasses, toiletries, good quality iron and ironing board, kettle, fridge, TV. Multiple charge points and sockets, relaxing chairs. Bathroom size and quality finish is good with most being accessible for able bodies and disabled alike. Separate to rooms, a laundry area was avaifor use. Gym size at the hotel was adequate but offers only a casual workout and was a modest size. Equipment available of good quality and easy to use. Free weights, 1 weights bench. Various excerise mats. Free standing hand pulls that could be adjusted, a TV for entertainment. Towels, wipes and water dispenser available. Breakfast buffet offered is generous and good value for money with multiple choices and options to satisfy most appetites. Bar available has a good variety of beverages available both alcoholic and non, with cocktail options also available. Prices are reasonable for a hotel. Dinner menu offered good variety and while I enjoyed a tasty carbonara, several of the other meal choices were equally enjoyed by those with me. Several outdoor seating options during dryer weather.

Hotel size is modest. Which translated into the square footage of the lobby area. Chair options become limited quickly. If weather prevents people from going outside then this becomes even more evident. Entertainment options are very limited with minimal choice for young children. Hotel is ideal for couples, business trips and events though. Breakfast tables fill up fast so be prepared to wait if none are immediately available.

Breakfast was excellent, with a great buffet, and a large array of cooked and cold options. It also had a segregated area for gluten free foods, which suited my wife. Room was very clean, and towels and linen changed daily. Bed was very comfortable. Rooms , restaurant, bar, reception, were all spotlessly clean. Evening meal was personally recommended by Chef, who displayed an excellent awareness of gluten free foods. Receptionist "Fatima" went that extra mile to make our stay a pleasant one.

Client allowed to take small dog into restaurant, and leave beneath table, despite a sign to the contrary at the entrance.

Room spotlessly clean. Bar and restaurant staff friendly and helpful. Dinner was excellent as was breakfast with a wide range of food and drinks on offer. Only bugbear is that the plates are cold and therefore it doesn’t take long for the delicious food to go cold.

Toilet flush (room 229) was cracked and faulty. It didn’t work at all on the morning of departure. This is obviously a major issue and one that must have been apparent to staff. On checkout at 11:00am on 25.6.23 I told the receptionist on duty about the issue and suggested the room should not be allocated to guests until the issue is resolved. Her respond was ‘I’ll let maintenance know’. No apology or excuse and she was miserable and abrupt and didn’t wish us well on our exit. Poor show.

Good size bed. Heating, tv. Good shower and non slip surface. Bedside lamps good.

The window on the right hand side does not shut tight and is probably the reason we were kept awake by noisy cars racing around every evening. Also my wife is disabled and room 18 was a bit too far away from the car park. We’ve stayed there many times when it was the 4 Pillars and always enjoyed our stays. We didn’t have breakfast as we feel it’s too expensive .

The firm mattress, how clean and modern everything was, the fact we were able to check in an hour early, and the great value for money.

We had a nightcap at the bar in the function area and the barman was a delight but I felt awkward and uncomfortable on his behalf by the other member of staff who was literally standing over his shoulder with a clipboard - seemingly marking the lad on his performance and really not being discreet about it. When I asked for and was given a glass of water to take to our room the clipboard person chided the barman for letting me have one, saying "no glasses in the room", in earshot, which I thought was rude and unprofessional. It's not nice to see a perfectly polite, friendly and helpful team member getting told off in front of guests.

Breakfast was amazing. Room was clean and really liked the bathroom with a proper shower. Bed was nice however wasn’t in the middle of the tv (but that really isn’t that big of a deal lol). Lastly the bar was extremely nice and overall the staff were amazing and so friendly. Nothing bad the say for the staff, such nice people.

Honestly. Nothing it was perfect. Only possible thing is Uber the taxi app is not available in your area, so we had to wait for a taxi. Obviously I understand this is not your fault at all, but maybe could put a notice up to let people know? But on a positive note your staff called a taxi straight away for us and booked it within seconds of us asking.

Excellent location for us as we we’re attending the Fireworks festival at the airfield which was only a few miles away. Also Abingdon town is about 15 minutes walk away and its a lovely place to visit with plenty of eating place’s and walks along the river.

I think for the price that Breakfast should be included. It is available for £13 each or £11 if pre booked. Im not a big breakfast eater which means its quite expensive if i only want tea toast etc. There is a Tesco store/cafe 2 mins walk away where 4 of us enjoyed a Very good Breakfast plus drinks for only £24 it was very good.

It is ideal for local shops and supermarkets. Also a short walk from Abingdon town centre via a pleasant riverside path from the main road. The hotel has plenty of free parking. The hotel cleaners, receptionists, and all the staff do a professional job. Could do to be more receptionists at busy times and breakfasts are very expensive but besides that an ideal place to stay. The rooms are excellent and well kept. There is air conditioning and windows can be opened as necessary. All in all 9 out of a possible 10.

The reception and entertaining/ dining area is modern, always immaculately clean and inviting. The rooms are a great size and fresh. The car park is huge and free. BUT the standout winner is the staff. All of them are so warm and friendly. From all the girls on reception, to John and his excellent team in F & B, who could not do enough to help. (Special mentions to Cami in the mornings and Brian (Bruno Mars) in the evenings, but even the housekeepers. Just a brilliant team and a stunning example of customer service done right. WELL DONE GUYS N GALS. (From somebody with many years of experience in hospitality)
