The staff were terrific, and the bartender/staff member who checked me in was very friendly. They showed me to my room, offered to carry my bags and showed me the facilities. The food was excellent! The staff again were fantastic, offering food suggestions and checking back to ensure everything was fine. My room was very friendly, comfortable and clean. Previous reviews mentioned noise from the bar and road, I didn't hear anything from my room, but it was a midweek stay. The stairs are steep up to the room but not an issue for me. I thought the breakfast bar was an amazing idea and a nice touch when they really dont have to provide anything really.

Parking at the bar is very limited with maybe six spaces. There is no long stay parking close, I had to park a ten minute walk away. Not a major issue for me but think it should be made clear on the booking page etc.

The room was very spacious, smart and well decorated. The venue is adjacent to a major road so you have to accept the traffic noise which starts early in the morning. The person who checked us in was very friendly and helpful and our bags had already been taken to the room for us. Breakfast was a self-service buffet located on the 2nd floor with lots of items to choose from but had then to be taken to the room (or outside) to be consumed. If you do go outside remember to take your key to the door at the bottom of the stairs (situated off the courtyard) as it’s self-locking. The food was also very good and reasonably priced, portion sizes are also generous. The bar staff were great, very friendly and helpful in explaining the beers and food choices. It seemed very popular with the locals and was very busy whilst we were there which is always a good sign. As we were walking part of the Thames path the venue kindly agreed to take delivery and pass on our bags to the baggage transfer company (so a very big thanks).

The room was absolutely STUNNING!! Very grand & luxurious. Could not fault it & was in a little shock when the staff member showed me my room.. just didn’t expect it (photos online don’t do the room justice). Also want to mention the staff member who showed me to my room was so welcoming & friendly which was so refreshing - even at a busy time in the pub downstairs, he still managed to make a conscious effort to make my arrival very bubbly. I stayed in room 1 & it’s all the details in the room that makes it, the shutter windows, the huge grand lamps, high ceilings, beautiful bed, gorgeous bathroom with a waterfall shower head, seating area & a fan which was a nice addition on a hot weekend. Breakfast was included which was continental style & they had so much option. Normally miss the breakfast because I have to leave early for an event but this option was perfect for me! All in all a great stay & just wish I hadn’t eaten before I arrived & tried the food downstairs as the pub/restaurant was also very cosy looking. 10/10 would recommend

A comfortable room in a pub with an excellent range of beers. The room was spacious, well furnished with nice lighting and the bed was very comfortable. There was a small fridge in the landing with a range of meats, cheeses and other breakfast items for self-service. The check in and check out was easy and the bar staff were very friendly and helpful.

There was some noise from the bar downstairs but it finished at around 11pm and - as this is a pub - it was expected. Some aspects of the room weren't brilliantly cleaned (i.e shower glass / mirrors) but the room itself was clean and pleasant.

Buffet breakfast which I did not expect but we enjoyed the choices and although the coffee was from a machine it was very good and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were extremely welcoming. The parking was first come first served basis but we found a quiet street within walking distance so did not affect us. The bar was busy and had live music. Clearly a locals bar and had a great vibe.

We had a meal and found the menu a bit chaotic. Will never be a fine dining experience but with hindsight should have taken more notice of what we ordered. Was ok

The food in the bar was good.

We paid 125 for a room but asked to be moved as the bathroom stank of sewage. The room they gave us was 112 no refund but nicer than room 3..The fridge for breakfast was outside our door,ok as only us there but it would be a problem if all 3 rooms were being used.Car park only as 6 spaces and the staff use these. In arrival it was full we was told to use a pay & display car park.As we was attending a funeral and had travelled a long way i was really upset. We did get parked outside but they should not say parking outside. As we checked out this morning the cleaner was there to clean room 3.When i told her that we did not use the room as the room stank of sewage her reply was (oh not again). Also the stairs are very steep ok if you are mountain goat.

The rooms are lovely, spacious and beds are very comfortable. Staff are amazing and looked after us very well. Location is great and food and drinks at the pub are really good. Such a lovely pub.

The shower room wasn’t the cleanest, the bin had not been emptied from a previous a guest and there was a lingering smell in the bathroom. The floor board are super creaky and I was woken up a couple of times by other guest walking around late at night and very early morning.

I had the most wonderful stay here! Was greeted warmly from the car park & was delighted to grab the last space. Was shown to my room which was spacious with mini toiletries, comfy bed & flat screen tv. The pub downstairs was packed & buzzing on an early Saturday evening but the lovely staff made me feel so welcome & found me a table for dinner before helpfully directing me to where I was heading next. The waitress was 100% good service and yummy food … the atmosphere fun and welcoming. In the morning, the housekeeping lady was so eager to please, offering extra towels and making sure I had enough breakfast. The self-service coffee machine & continental picnic-style breakfast was just right for me in flight mode on my way home. Really sweet place, full of character and every member of staff was just perfect. Highly recommended. Show less

Ok - just to help some travellers make a decision. I loved it but in case these things are important … There wasn’t much of a view from the room. Car park v small but I think there are on street options .. not a hotel breakfast but happy with choices. Didn’t need the housekeeping to knock on the door early to check everything was ok but her intentions were 100% sound. Lovely place.

Loved everything about this place! Food was outstanding, and the staff so friendly and helpful. The area outside is beautiful on a sunny day. Our room was stunning, spacious, had everything we needed and the shower was amazing. The breakfast setup is the best I've seen (for us anyway) loved that we could help ourselves when needed, get up and go when we wanted and know we had all we needed. We were able to park right outside which was really handy. Perfect location for buses to Oxford City centre. Extra bonuses were hairdryer in the room, fan (it did get warm) tv with all the apps.

We slept fine, but if you're a light sleeper, don't expect a solid night's sleep

We were calling for an overnight stop on our way to Portsmouth and location wise this was perfect. On arrival we parked right outside on an off street parking area, as we walked through the lovely flower filled beer garden we were met with a wonderful aroma (if you are a carnivor ) of brisket being slow smoked it was amazing and determined our selection on the menu that evening. We were greeted and made to feel so welcome by a superb member of the staff called Kyle, he was kind enough to enlighten two more senior guests in the querkeries of the menu and vast beer selection. He showed us to our room which was beautiful with a lovely modern bathroom but it would have benefitted from an extractor fan with a little more bant as there was that strange musty smell (the sort you often get abroad) might just be the age of the building but it didn't detract from the overall stay. Querky DIY breakfast but it worked for us .... just a small note but perhaps a small table to eat breakfast could be thought about.

Nothing at all! But if you struggle with stairs or have a lot of luggage, the stairs were a bit challenging !
