We knew this Pub from 30 years ago and are simply glad it still exists. Location is excellent with easy access of everything in Oxfordshire by car and ample car parking. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Food was pub style and very good and portions just right. Breakfast included in the room price was excellent with a lot of tasty choices other than "full English". Room was comfortable and facing away from the road. Beds are very good and bathroom good and clean. Good tea and coffee making facility in the room.

The accommodation part could do with a minor touch up of the decor, but nothing to complain about.

Loved the surrounds and the style of hotel. The young man working there who had the puppy was very friendly and fab ulous.

The older man who works there was a bit like 'Basil' faulty towers. Complained about dogs barking, when that was one of the main reasons for staying there, was because of dogs. He seemed like it was all too much, was worn out and annoyed. The other staff were great. There is a carpark over the road, thought not good that staff parked at the front of the property when it is easy for them to cross road rather than leaving those spots for guests who have all their luggage.

Lovely warm welcome from friendly staff. Our room was a great size, clean and the bed was massive, overlooking the garden.Plenty of tea and coffee. We had an evening meal the first night and the menu was good. I opted for the Signature burger and my husband fish and chips, both good portions. At breakfast we were welcomed by Katie and Erica who couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful. Choice of continental and/or (depending what was included in your stay) Full english, pancakes, avocado and poached eggs aswell as veggie options. I had the children's Full English which was plenty big enough. We asked the girls at breakfast recommendations for Indian restaurants and Katie recommended Dal Raj in Abingdon. So we booked a table for Saturday night and weren't disappointed. Would definitely stay again.

We had a lovely large double room right at the top of the property. We had booked a basic double - but had been upgraded. ( Room 21). It had lovely features - such as wooden beams and lots of windows ( may be a problem if you are tall ) There were tea and coffee making facilities and iron and ironing board - a huge bath and power shower. The pub downstairs was lovely- the food looked great and they did a comprehensive breakfast that we could have had should we wanted to get up early for it ( served until 9 a.m) Staff were friendly and we would definitely stay here again. There was ample parking too.

Staff were brilliant 👍 Took a little bit of adjiustment with the place being cashless. No facility to charge things to the Room, except breakfast. Parking excellent lots of space. Nice to see dogs welcome, a bit more homely.

Sunday Roast was well under par, the rest good. Not a fan of paying by card for everything at the time, much better to run a tab on the Room. Please can you make the coffee bags openable, the coffee in the room is lovely, but you really do need scissors to open the packaging, the tear point is hit and miss.

The staff members were exceptional. All friendly and approachable - couldn’t do enough for us and made us feel so welcome. The room was ideally located on the ground floor to allow for mobility issues and was surprisingly quiet given it’s location. A good cooked to order breakfast was included and the rate was very good value for money.

The room was a little tired and there were cobwebs in the corners. It would certainly have benefited from a refurbishment and/or a thorough clean.

Just needed a bed for the night & this hotel exceeded my expectations. Its was the simplest, most relaxed check-in possible. The member of staff came to reception as soon as I pressed the bell. They explained where the room was & how to use the key. Asked politely if I wanted breakfast, which I didn't. The room was clean, fresh & spacious (I had a double room). It was quiet. The inn is in the countryside. In the morning I could here the birds. I would stay again if I happen to be in the area.

Room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was good in quantity and well cooked. Staff cheerful and helpful.

Dinner at night was poor; pie was overcooked and pastry rock hard. My wife's meal was also overcooked and hard. We did get a refund of one meal. The only thing that spoilt breakfast was making our own tea and depositing tea bags in a bin; pots of tea would be better and give a better impression to guests, especially Americans.

main road outside was annoying but nothing they can do about that. bathroom was a bit dated. roller blind in the bathroom didn't work so had to cover window with a towel to avoid any embarrassment when using the shower! ceiling height was low in the shower which is to be expected for an old building but beware if you are tall!

We love the location. Second visit as we had to rebook at Millets for the Hawk walk. Everyone working there was friendly and helpful. Both visits the food was lovely. One of the best English breakfasts. Beer well looked after.

Though both real ales were well looked after it would have been nice to have a bit more choice on the beer green king or abbot's. So minor thing really. Happy to stay again if we're up that way. Card only
