Everything I'd expect from a luxury country house hotel - exceptionally clean, perfect decor, good food, good restaurant/bar staff, manicured grounds, lovely room

It was expensive. And they add 25% service charge at check-out with no fore-warning which really sucks. But, arguably, we did get what we paid for: a luxury night away. Only other minor beef was that the Reception staff need to be taught to smile. I accept a Cheshire cat like grin while they are shovelling the bill onto your credit card would not be appropriate but a warm welcoming & friendly smile would just top the experience off perfectly

The room was excellent, the bathroom was big , with a bath and separate shower cubicle. The grounds are lovely, parking is very good and the whole place is everything you want from a country hotel.

Everything is a bit pricey, wine and drinks are very expensive. But the worst thing is everything has a service charge, even drinks at the bar, but you dont know this until you get your bill on check out. We had a Sunday roast which was good but not traditional, a bit to master chef, and there was no dessert that didn't come with icecream or sorbet. And again everything is expensive.

We loved the breakfast - it was simply superb, loads of choice and delicious. The grounds were lovely. The bar had a nice selection of drinks and the staff were very friendly.

The bar lights were lowered too much to see what we were doing after about 8pm. The dinner in contrast to the breakfast which was subperb was a big let down. The steaks were fatty with 50% of it being meat and the vegitable selection on the menu was simply cabbage. The peppercorn sauce was also too runny and the chocolate brownie not as nice as ones we had had before. We sound like real gripes here...but the menu on offer was the main reason we selected Oakley Hall.

The deluxe room was delightful - spacious, good view, comfy bed, newly decorated well and clean. All the staff we encountered were very friendly.

The only niggle was that the dinner menu looked extremely good and promised much but the quality of the food presented did not match expectation - which is a shame as the hotel was lovely. we assumed that perhaps the chef was new and that things would improve with time.

Our stay was just perfect! We loved everything about the cottage we stayed in and the grounds of the hotel. The food was amazing, both dinner and breakfast. The staff were so helpful and attentive and really went the extra mile to make our stay as perfect as possible. Would highly recommend this hotel, especially if staying with a big group.

There was nothing for us that we didn't like. The only issue we had was some extra payments we were not expecting, however the hotel worked really quickly to sort this out for us and remove/refund what we should not have had to pay.

Our whole experience was amazing. We arrived much later than we wanted due to traffic and our plans going wrong all day but when we arrived the staff were amazing and helpful. After a quick change we made it down to dinner in time and the meal we had was beautiful. Lovely friendly staff and a room to die for. In the morning when we opened the curtains we found our amazing view, wow it took my breath away, it had been dark when we arrived. The breakfast was lovely, such a good choice, only one thing let it down and that was not being able to have sour dough bread. I have an allergy to yeast so although I had some toast, I couldn’t enjoy an extra slice. I did ask if I could of had some sour dough as I had had it the night before but I was told you couldn’t have it until 12pm but the food and service made up for it. We will definitely be returning on our next trip to Eastbourne as it’s a beautiful half way mark.

Lovely location, shame the weather was poor otherwise we would have explored the grounds. We had a lovely big room in 'the Courtyard' which was great, nice and quiet and had our own parking. Huge bed and large bathroom, we felt spoilt! Staff were great and very pleasant, meal at the Glasshouse was expensive but a nice experience. There was a wedding going on which we weren't a part of and you wouldn't know, the party seemed to be well separated from other guests. Breakfast had a good choice and was relaxed and tasty. Overall would like to go back.

Pillows and bed were too hard for our taste but ofcourse hotels are not able to suit every customer perfectly!

Lovely grounds and really smart hotel. i loved the fact that they took the kids into consideration with activity bags and little dressing gowns in the room and special activity menus for dinner - such a nice touch. It was a lovely place to stay and I didn’t feel awkward about taking the kids there at all, which makes a change from a lot of hotels! the food was delicious and as parents, it’s nice to be able to have fabulous food, as well as the kids getting their standard chicken and chips! All the staff we met were just brilliant too!

Everything about the hotel was wonderful. The location is stunning and our bedroom overlooked the grounds. Very large, comfortable bed and very well appointed bathroom. We had a drink in the bar and dinner and breakfast in the dining room. All the food was excellent - drinks a tad on the expensive side but would still go back. It was my husbands birthday and they left a birthday card a beautiful bar of hand crafted chocolate in the bedroom for him. Very nice touch.

Would not have changed anything.

Pleasant surroundings close to family. Food was good apart from my husbands eggs which should have been soft but were hard. Staff very courteous. Very clean and welcoming. Room was fine and clean. Would stay again.

Kitchen extract was by our room on the outside. This was a bit noisy although it did go off after midnight but started again about 6 a m .My husbands breakfast was not good burnt muffin and hard eggs on eggs benedict is not good. We did not complain as they were busy and did not want to add to any stress..
