Convenient location for our needs. Friendly staff. Room had almost everything we could want. Excellent evening meal with friendly well trained staff. Breakfast also excellent but I would have loved a fresh fruit salad! Scrambled egg with smoked salmon was delicious and my husband had a very comprehensive, beautifully cooked full English breakfast.

Room was very hot and Dyson fan very noisy. A communal door somewhere banged quite frequently. Would have liked a small fridge to keep fresh milk & water chilled.

The room was a good size, had a TV and had a lovely homey feel to it. Bathroom had the usuals in it along with a lovely big shower. The room was clean, tidy and warm. When we first arrived unable to get into out allocated room but this was easily sorted while we went on about our day and came back to a new room. Had dinner in the Pub, one of the best roast dinners ever. Breakfast in the more was more self serves with tea and coffee - which i didn't mind as I'm fussy about my tea. Breakfast came and most definitely was good. Enjoy our stay there and felt welcome by the staff.

Nothing.

The room was packed with tech! Even the sockets had built in usb chargers. We had a fab tv with sound bar and a remote control radio. There was a Nespresso machine and a kettle with a good selection of accompanying pods, coffees, tea and biscuits. There was a fab Dyson fan and even a little heater for cold nights. There was also an iron and board to help decrease after unpacking. The bathroom had a shaver point, fan and had a wonderful rainfall shower, but also with a hand held option so you didn’t need yo always get your hair wet. But if you did there was a decent hairdryer provided. There were an excellent array of hand wash, hand cream, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, all very good quality and the towels were cotton, heavy, soft and pearly white. Wonderful towels. There was even a little fold out trestle for your suitcase. Everything you could want, and more. The pub was wonderful too, a great selection of drinks and lovely staff. The outside space was gorgeous. The food looked very nice and Sunday lunch looked very popular- a little pricey but being so popular it must have been good quality. Sadly we didn’t get a chance to eat this time.

The property’s bedroom decor was quite dark, not good with such small windows and looked a little tired. With such tech they could be modern and bright. There was no obvious place to do your hair and make up, the desk had electric sockets close by and a mirror but it was positioned too high to be of any use. It would be perfect if dropped 12 inches!!

Very clean, spacious, comfortable and many little extras included, i.e. Nespresso coffee, good selection of toiletries, quality bedding and towels. Also very warm, if required.

Cost of drinks was way above average and quite extortionate. £6.75 for a single gin with a very very small shot of lemonade (I requested the same amount of lemonade, as the measure of gin) and £5.90 for a lager. Around the corner £3.50 for a gin and 40 pence for lemonade, although no charge for the amount of lemonade I requested. Staff where a little robotic not much charisma. I get why there are check in times and I understand this, however my room was clearly ready, but one cannot have the key until the exact check in time. A little flexibility goes a long way in the hospitality business.

The friendly staff and a very comfortable bed. Lovely village for a short evening stroll and good location for visiting Winchester and Highclere Castle. Plenty of off-road parking.

Due to the age of the building the windows are small and so the bedroom was dark and difficult to ventilate, the Dyson fan helped. The bathroom was bright but one window had been painted shut. The automatic light in the bathroom went out while showering and the time delay on the bathroom extractor fan was excessively long, so disturbing when trying to sleep with the bathroom door open. Due to our visit being on a Monday many items on the evening menu were not available @ 7pm - no pizzas, chicken dishes or burgers.

Room was good. .bed was very comfortable

Rusty and dirty toilet brush.....no spare loo roll. Food was disappointing.....particularly poor breakfast The girl sat there drying a tray of cutlery. Gave us one menuto share. We couldn'tworkout the cold breakfastitemsas no menureference to them. Asked her and she said 'continental breakfast '. Asked how much? She went off to check I guess? £5.95...was her answer. Asked for sugar to shake on my weetabix...'we only have the sugar lumps' ! My wife asked what they did in the kitchen... 'crush them' she said! If true, then a lesson to be learned....if not, just being awkward or lazy. We went elsewhere for breakfast on day 2!!! Real shame on the food and service as this could be a really good stopover destination.

The staff were very friendly, check in was simple and the place is beautiful! The room was very spacious, the huge bed extremely comfortable and the facilities included a coffee machine with a selection of coffee pods, which was a welcome suprise! I also ate in the pub which was very nice and reasonably priced! I would definitely recommend and hope to return next time I'm in the area!

I cant really think of anything I disliked about this place, but if I had to pick anything it would be that the check out was a bit unclear as the pub was locked and didn't know where to drop the key. Eventually I found a staff member who unlocked the door and I gave her the key.

The hotel is quaint and well appointed. Our room faced the street and it was noisy until about midnight and a bit hot but there was a nice fan in the room. Room was really spacious and the kilner bottles with water were a nice touch. We didn’t have any nespresso capsules although there was a machine in the room. The linens and towels were lovely the decor throughout was charming, The staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was made to order and delicious.

Food was cooked and presented well. The staff were attentive and friendly.

Breakfast on Sunday was not as good as Monday. For instance the urn of water for tea making was only lukewarm on Sunday, where as on Monday it was the correct temperature. There were small differences within the cooked breakfast description. For example vine tomatoes were missing in the cooked breakfast on Sunday and replaced with half a tomato..on Monday items were matched as described. It was only small things, but it gave the impression that there was more control and supervision on the Monday morning.Whether this was due to staff availability over the weekend, I don’t know.

This place is really a hidden gem. Its so good, that I don't want to write the review as I am worried everyone will find it. I couldn't believe how much character the place has. The price was unreal and the food was great in the restaurant downstairs. We paid for breakfast the next day and they went to the effort to cook us hot croissants which were delicious. Can't recommend this place enough.

There were stairs up to the room, and they were on a slight angle. This was no issue for us, if anything it added character however I can see how it could be an issue for some.
