Atholl Arms

The staff were very nice and welcoming Breakfast was really good you had several choices First night stay had dinner in bar area ordered the steak pie Meat was lovely and warm but what was supposed to be puff pastry was cold looked like it was done in microwave,

Bed throw had stains on it not very nice to see on the bed your sleeping on Don't understand why you used valance sheet on bed base as it was to large for the size of bed It let the look of the bed area down ( it's the first impressions that count and will be easy to replace ) Television in room not working properly as it comes up no signal or the picture goes distorted TV is good to watch when it's raining at night,

The room was very comfortable and well equipped with a great size bathroom. The dinner we had was so delicious and they had a great choice of food and drink available. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, although this was a short stay we enjoyed all aspects.

The car park was a little 'tight' to drive in and out but was in a good location and did have a disabled bay. Found the bathroom window 'interesting' as it's just a normal window and sitting on the 'loo' and being able to look out to people sitting in the beer garden was 'fun'. Would have liked to know they didn't have a lift but this may have been on the website and I just didn't see it. As a disabled person it was not easy climbing sets of stairs to get to out room.

Atholl Arms is a traditional British hotel, but not outdated! We stayed in room 109 for one Monday night. The bedroom and bathroom were clean and large enough. Although there was no air conditioning (rooms with AC seem to be a hard find in Scotland anyway), the room had a comfortable temperature. What’s more: it was really quiet. You could sleep with the window open and you heard nothing from the hallway. The staff was also very friendly and even let us drop our luggage very early and have breakfast before opening hours so we could catch our train. The dinner in the adjacent Bothy Bar was also very tasty and the inn itself had a wonderful atmosphere.

It is a large hotel with parking directly in front. Blair castle is opposite and is magnificent. Beautiful countryside and hills all around. The old railway directly behind. The village is completely tranquil and only a short drive away is the buzzing town of Pitlochry.. The hotel staff are a huge asset to the hotel, always cheerful, polite and attentive. The communal areas on the ground floor are traditional and sumptuous. The grand dining hall where full Scottish breakfast or many alternatives were served. The period bathrooms were always clean. The thick tartan carpeting throughout continues up the hallways and stairway. The bar restaurant provides excellent quality and delicious meals, which are very good value. The water mill café at the rear is a cosy place for soup and home baked bread, or simply tea and cakes.

We paid extra for an upgrade hoping for the four poster bed...In comparison to the ground floor the bedroom lacked depth of colour and was disappointing, albeit always warm and comfortable. We were offered a change on the second night but had settled where we were.

Absolutely amazing hotel! Probably the most beautiful and cozy hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The location was perfect since we did not have a car. The train station is right behind the hotel and there is a bus stop in the front. It’s is a short walk from Blair Castle which is amazing and only 5 mins on the bus from House of Bruar. As we were there near Christmas the hotel was beautifully decorated with classic scottish country Christmas decor. Our room was spacious, clean, tastefully decorated, and had large windows looking out to the woods. We were only there for the one night but I can definitely say we will be back!

No complaints at all

Breakfast was very good and had plenty choice for my husband who had cooked breakfast both days. I don’t usually eat large breakfast but had small size on Sunday morning which was great. The location was suitable for us as we visited house of Bruar and Pitlochry for shopping. We also visited castle and was very interesting. The hotel was busy on Saturday night but did not hear any noise from room. Would defineatly visit again.

Our only negative was we didn’t book restaurant on Saturday evening. The reason for this was we ate at bar on Friday night so decided to do same next evening but was very busy. The restaurant times didn’t suit me as on medication at certain times and have to eat after them. If restaurant meal time was earlier we would have eaten there. All staff were very pleasant and efficient.

Breakfast was lovely. Cereals, muesli fruit, tea coffee with cooked choice also on offer, toast jam, marmalade honey. Enough of a choice with less chance of waste. It was a lovely homely place, quiet scenic and clean. A very good choice for our particular needs.

There was no lift, I look after a gentleman who struggles with sight and has cerebral palsy. The stairs are busy pattern so he struggled see each step, doors quite heavy between sets of stairs and floor slightly uneven below carpet on the floor we stayed on. He managed though so just some extra care from him needed not enough of an issue to complain but worth knowing if you have balance or sight issues.

Our room was spotlessly clean and a great size especially as we had a dog with us! Nice and fresh and airy feel to it. Also we were from facing but very little noise from traffic. Very peaceful and relaxing. The dining room for breakfast was amazing and serving staff were extremely friendly. Nothing too much trouble. We also dined in The Bothy joined on to the Atholl Arms and food was great and so friendly too. Lovely atmosphere.

First night we arrived late at 10pm. we asked for a drink or food but was told nothing was available. Now this is a hotel… so I more or less demanded a drink from the bar.. the receptionist tutted… then we asked for another… the eye rolling from this particular woman was incredible… so I just told her to leave the bottle of wine with us. when she spoke to us after that it would be ‘dog….lead’ . All the other staff were brilliant

Breakfast was fabulous Staff were great.

The top floor rooms were quite compact and we couldnt figure out how to put heating down so the room during the night was quite stuffy and we had to sleep with the window open. Pretty sure these used to be staff rooms.
