Pleasant spacious room. Helpful staff, particularly young man who served us dinner and breakfast. Very wide choice of cooked options at breakfast as well as cold buffet. Good value and generous! tasty!

In general, the cleanliness was very good apart from a very mouldy safety mat in the bathroom! The proportions were very generous at dinner, perhaps compromising quality over quantity. The decor is a little dated but that didn’t bother us at all. I did have fun counting all the different carpets in the communal areas.

The friendliness of the staff. They went out of their way to make sure all of our needs were met and nothing was too much trouble. We would like to commend Leeanne for her brilliant multitasking and outstanding customer service on Friday night and say thank you to Sophie T for her friendly interested manner when checking out this morning. The Walnut Tree had Hhappy memories for us from our parents/grandparents time in North Newton but our break there last night has meant that we will definitely consider staying again maybe for longer.

Comfortable and welcoming in all areas. Great location. Exceptionally quiet. Plenty of parking. Room 34 was huge and the bed was super king size too and really comfortable. Guest areas were spacious. Restaurant and bar provide reasonably priced drinks and food. Tastefully decorated although there is a need for a bit of repair and paint needed here and there. There is also a guest lounge with plenty of seating . We would certainly stay here again .

Rather disappointed to find Room 34 could do with a bathroom upgrade. Rather old and dated vanity unit with blue sanitary wear with white toilet seat! Room was overly warm and the heating could not be turned off as even on frost setting it was stifling. No overhead lighting in bedroom and the mirror above dressing table is tinted so very difficult to see clearly when using hair dryer.

For some reason we got a far better room than we were expecting - 'The Bishop's Suite' - a huge room, with an equally expansive bathroom, so were very pleased with that. The bed was also vast, and all of the linen and towels were clean and fresh. After a month traveling in Spain & Portugal it was also nice to get back to a room with a kettle and teamaking facilities. The included breakfast options were reasonable in choice and the scrambled/poached eggs nicely cooked. Plenty of parking spaces away from the road so we felt OK leaving our motorcycle there. Staff were friendly if a little unnatural in their interaction with customers - just be yourself! All things considered we would probably stay here again as it's a good distance from the Plymouth ferry to break up our journey home and a reasonable price.

The room was very cold when we first arrived then rapidly became too hot when the heating kicked in so we had to shut the radiators off as best we could. Someone had been using neat bleach or something similar to clean surfaces in the bathroom - strong enough to take the colour out of my wife's flannel. The evening meal was quite expensive and, for simple options like fish and chips, perhaps a little pretentious in its presentation. The staffing levels seem sparse which leads to those that are working seeming to be a little stressed and making mistakes - forgetting orders etc.

I have to say that for a three star hotel in a smallish Somerset town, the chef was so good it really knocked my socks off! The breakfast was excellent and the Exmoor venison dinner that I had on the first night was so good that I chose it again on my second evening. The local Otter bitter is kept to perfection too! I could not fault the food, and I was very impressed with the professional attitude and friendliness of all of the staff. For the money I paid it was truly exceptional! I will be back.

Not much!

The hotel is only a few minutes from Bridgwater and it cost us eight to ten pounds by taxi. Free parking at the hotel is a bonus as some other hotels charge ten pounds a day. Breakfast was very good and the staff were friendly and helpful.

The room smelled a bit musty so maybe needed to be aired or something but was clean and spacious. The pool table was broken (balls don't run back to the end when potted!) but nice selection of games to use in the lounge.

The great choice of breakfast in the morning and the service we received were also very good. We had an evening meal in the hotel and again the food quality was very good and the service exceptional. The room was in a quiet area and we had a very goodnights sleep.

The room was a little dated. I think it was in need of a little sprucing up. a few more mod cons in the rooms. the small kettle and bits like that made the place feel dated. But a very clean room.

The staff were really helpful. I find hotel beds often too hard or with lumpy springs. This bed was great! The bathroom was large with a great shower. I thought the ‘included’ breakfast would be just a continental buffet style. I was wrong. There were croissants, cereals, yoghurts and fruit/juices. Free flowing tea/coffee/toast preceded my husbands full English which was presently like a fine dining restaurant. I had a great choice of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs or (chosen) smoked haddock and poached eggs. I’m as fussy with my eggs as my bed. No runny white served but eggs cooked perfectly. I fully recommend the Walnut Tree for good sleep and food, but also it is literally 3 minutes off the M5 at junction 24 southbound.

The room was fantastic, everything that you needed and a little extra, the food was divine. The staff were an absolute pleasure, the manager was superb too, he was a hands on manager that had no problem with helping the rest of the team when things got busy. The team between them couldn't do enough for us, if there was a request for anything they tried their best to deliver, absolutely faultless stay we WILL be returning.

We couldn't find anything to fault.
