Lovely warm welcome, and staff that really couldn't do enough for us. The onsite restaurant serves a range of dishes, catering for vegans and vegetarians also. It's a community-owned pub/cafe/restaurant so the atmosphere is very friendly and it was always busy - There's a positive buzz that's omnipresent. Breakfast was toast, pastries, and cereals, simply help yourself - We didn't miss a cooked breakfast, at all, there was sufficient to see us into the day. The room was fabulous - Huge bed (large double) that was really comfy, en suite shower was immaculate, and the view from the window onto a country lane from which we regularly saw horses go by. Deadly silent by night, which was great, even with the window open. Will definitely be back!

We loved this place. The staff were so lovely and they really enjoyed working there. The rooms were light and airy, and refreshingly, there were plenty of teabags and milk. Not the usual 2 that you get in most places! And Borders biscuits! The bar and restaurant was excellent. There's actually an area where you can just have a drink. Some pubs now only seem to cater for diners and have a couple of bar stools. The food and service was top notch. The was a lovely atmosphere in the place, being a community pub, it is well used by the village and surrounding areas. If you arrive too early to check in, there is a cafe at the back next to the car park. I think they have thought of everything. We will definitely return!

Continental breakfast provided was perfectly adequate with fresh pastries and friendly staff who told us more about the New Inn as a community pub. Nicely decorated bar area and lots of seating outside for warm summer evenings. It was a perfect base for us to travel to the nearby heritage railway

it was quite remote and satnav took us along some narrow lanes to get there, but fortunately we didn't meet much traffic. Everything else was fine, though sadly we hit one of the Sundays that the pub was closed due to staff holidays (I think)

We stayed here in February to attend our daughters wedding in Taunton and it was amazing. The rooms were recently decorated and furnished, the bed was very comfortable. Ours was probably the smallest room. Room 4. If we come again we will choose a larger room.The food was absolutely delicious. Thankyou Jake. He's an amazing chef. We chose Halibut and it was lovely. Thankyou to Selina and Georgia. You seem to love your jobs and it shows. Happy smiling faces. We shall definitely book again. Also recommend Merv our reliable taxi driver to and from locations.

Excellent community pub with comfortable rooms. Very friendly, but efficient staff. Large, comfortable room. A good example of how they go the extra mile is that in addition to the usual tea making facilities in the room (Earl Grey by the way not PG Tips) there was also a cafetiere and ground coffee. The restaurant menu is encouragingly short - and our meal was excellent. Breakfast is 'continental. and not a cooked breakfast, but it was plentiful and good. Good, easy parking.

My wife felt that her pork loin had been frozen and defrosted. The ice cream had been microwaved to defrost it.

The New Inn at Halse is an absolutely wonderful country pub with rooms that has been refurbished by the community to a very high standard indeed. Everywhere was immaculately clean, all the staff were friendly and welcoming, the bedroom was delightful and the bed extremely comfortable. I'd stay again in a heartbeat and would love to try the restaurant - we were told the chef is excellent and the food outstanding. Breakfast (continental) was more than adequate.

The location in the village was good - the single track roads to get there are not for the faint hearted but the New Inn is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Lucy and her staff make you feel at home the moment you walk through the door.Poppy behind the bar was an absolute delight as were all the staff. Sorry I cannot remember all their names. The quality of the food served in the restaurant was first class and light years ahead of "Pub Grub" On that note don't expect Weatherspoons prices. Excellent food and service does not come with £5 main courses. Breakfast is a light continental style with everything just right Including gluten free cornflakes if required. An absolute gem of a hotel.

Our stay at The New Inn was exceptional from beginning to end. We received the most warm welcome from all the team and they went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. The chefs even made us a meal when the kitchen was closed as we had made a long journey down. This was very much appreciated and absolutely delicious. Breakfast was wonderful, again served beautifully and with a big smile. The rooms were spotless and extremely comfortable with luxury bedding and great tea and coffee making facilities. The location was fabulous with everything you need just 10 minutes away in the car. Thank you to the whole team for making our stay so wonderful, we will definitely be back again!

We visited on a very warm weekend which made the room slightly too warm when sleeping but this cannot be helped. Once it cooled down and the window was open it was comfortable enough. Maybe having fans available to use or bring one with you if the weather is planning on being on the warmer side!

I requested gluten and dairy free which was well catered for with gluten free bread, cereal, milk and spread. On the whole I loved my stay and had a great evening meal in the restaurant. The room was clean, quiet and really comfortable and I slept really well.

However, just a small bit of feedback is that I needed some protein with my breakfast. For gluten and dairy eaters as far as I could see there was no protein either, just cereal, bread, pastries and fruit. As someone who likes to eat healthily and take care of my blood sugar, it would have been great to see some cold meat, smoked salmon, cheese, maybe some yoghurt and nuts as an option (even at a supplement). On the whole though, I loved my stay and my evening meal was lovely.
