Breakfast was good though continental breakfast was a a little lacking in choice. Room was very comfortable. We were very impressed when a problem with the shower controls was sorted out very quickly. If travelling by train the location was excellent. Across the road from the station but with no late night noise - we were there Wed and Thurs nights.

More of a welcome at breakfast would have been nice, letting us know where to go for our food and how to order the cooked breakfast, and for the price of the hotel we would have expected freshly made coffee or tea served to us rather than the self-service option.

- Decor is modern Art Deco, quirky, boutique. A lot of old 1930s railway-related furnishings and antique displays make you feel as if you’ve stepped back in time. Very artful and right up my Art Deco/retro obsessed street. - Staff are wonderful. Very friendly and professional. Always smiling and helpful. Easy and quick check in and check out. - Rooms are comfortable, spotless, of a good size and well decorated in modern Art Deco/Morris style. A little TLC needed here and there but remember you’re in a non-profit social enterprise hotel. I’ve stayed in 5 Star hotels in London which needed a lot more TLC!! - Proximity to the town centre is good. A little walk, probably 10-15 minutes? (I’m disabled so naturally slow). And you’re opposite the rail station.

Absolutely nothing. This is my second stay and won’t be my last.

Great hotel in a great location for access to surrounding areas in Somerset, also a short walk into Taunton town centre and it's just across from Taunton train station (I didn't hear a single train the whole time while staying here so noise was not an issue). The breakfast was great, cooked to order and nice little selection of food available. The room was comfortable and a good size, the windows can open nice and wide which was great (as it's been warm lately), plus a fan was provided in the room but we didn't need it while we were there. Not too much noise heard from other guests coming and going. Staff were all lovely and helpful. I love the style of the hotel too, especially those GWR toilet roll holders!

My only issue was the pillows weren't thick/fat(?) enough for me, they were too thin so I struggled to sleep on them, but the bed itself was great.

Easy to drive to and find. On site free parking. Also, if travelling by train, right next to Taunton railway station. Comfortable room. Opening sash windows. Free bottles of icy cold water and also fresh milk available on request. Good shower. Easy to use TV with plenty of channels. Excellent breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff.

Beware if you have difficulty with stairs - no lifts. Some rooms have a nice view over a pleasant garden, - but others overlook the railway station forecourt, with large amounts of car movements, queuing taxis and noise until late. No fridge in room. No obvious convenience stores or takeaways near the hotel (apart from the station cafe which is open for limited hours) - a car trip needed.

Great location. Plenty of parking spaces. Short walk into where all the bars restaurants and shops are. Handy if you're arriving by train. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Nice beer garden to sit out and chill. Breakfast was very good.

Our room was full of flies due to the flat roof outside the window which was full of pigeon poo. It was a hot day and the windows had to be kept shut after the room was sprayed with fly killer. Later I was picking dead flies up. We had a fan in the room which was useless in the heat so I didn't get much sleep. We did asked to be moved to another room but they were fully booked. Not sure if we would go back but if we did I would make sure they didn't give us that room again.

The cooked breakfast was delicious and no greasy, compliments to the chef (and for doing poached eggs on demand) and the staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. I really liked the character features throughout the building and our room was very spacious and clean and nicely decorated. Great location, opposite the station (but still very quiet) and walking distance into the town centre. A lovely place to stay and would definitely rebook/ recommend to friends.

The coffee wasn't great and I had to ask for a small jug oat milk everyday - it would have been nice to just have it as an option on the table with the coffee/ cereals etc. The pillows in the room were hard and flat (that's being really pernickety). One thing I would say is we had room service each day and were given fresh towels each time evening though we hung up the bath towels we'd used. I don't think we needed fresh towels each day - just to save on laundry!

The breakfast was excellent. We went down at 0700 and were made very welcome by the staff member, who took our cooked breakfast orders and told us about the continental selection too. The cooked breakfast was served exactly 15 minutes later, and was delicious. A very good butchers sausage, lovely bacon, hash brown, tomato, mushroom, black pudding and beans (in a separate pot which is an excellent touch). The staff set up the family room exactly as requested, and the location was superb. Lovely to hear it is owned and run by the YMCA, so by staying here you are helping people out.

Breakfast very good. Quick service . Lots to choose from menu. Staff very helpful and polite. Bar if you wanted alcoholic drink. Right next to railway station but really couldn’t hear trains passing. Excellent position if u didn’t have car free car parking.. Lots of restaurants minutes from hotel . In the town. Plenty of room to hold meetings . Lovely big sunny garden plenty of space. Big bedrooms. Would definitely go back again.

Walk in shower great but would have liked hand rail in shower and hook to hang towel on as you got out shower.

Staff were lovely ,Room was large and clean with big white fluffy towels .Breakfast was tasty and ample.The bed was a firm mattress good for me but not for everyone .It was close to the town for shopping.

There could be more of a choice for breakfast and the coffee was lukewarm for two mornings running ! The hotel is right opposite a very busy train station and and all we could hear was car horns beeping (a lot )and car doors slamming shut .The hotel is victorian and a listed building so original sash windows ,no good for noise reduction .It could possibly be quiter in the back of the building alas ! We were in the front.

Well located for Taunton centre, large rooms. Delicious breakfast with coicebof vegetarian or full British breakfast. The YMCA staff absolutely great, friendly atmosphere with no fuss. Love how dogs are welcome too. Free parking available and WiFi. Kettle and refreshments available in room with TV. Ensuite toilet and shower. Great place to stay and stunning countryside close by. Great for trains, station adjacent.
