Eype's Mouth Country Hotel

The setting and views from the hotel are simply stunning.

Nothing. If I’m being hypercritical, the decor could use some updating, but the rooms are comfy, the views magnificent and the staff friendly and helpful.

We had a lovely room with great views. Nice modern bathroom. Breakfast and evening meals were excellent. Food was cooked beautifully. Couldn’t fault the staff. They were friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. It was our anniversary while we were there and they made it special with a complimentary bottle of Prosecco. Great location. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

We didn’t like the fact that dogs were allowed in the restaurant. However there was another room where we had breakfast where dogs weren’t allowed and so we moved to that room for our evening meal.

Attentive and friendly staff, good food, fabulous location. When completely renovated it will be lovely. Great that the hotel is so dog friendly but not sure dog owners are offered the best rooms.

Hotel is being renovated to a high standard and where this has already been completed the results are very good. However we were disappointed with the level of general cleaning, e.g. dust behind TV. We were moved to another room as soon as we asked, which was appreciated.

Fabulous location just a few minutes walk from the beach and walks along the Jurassic Coast cliffs. West Bay is just a mile away along the clifftops. There's also a nice, family run take-away cafe in Eype near the seafront for sandwiches, cakes, hot and cold drinks. Hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helpful at all times. It's a relatively small hotel with comfortable bar area and restaurant downstairs, including outdoor terrace looking toward the sea. Very good quality food for breakfast and evening dinner. Very dog friendly.

Really very little not to like - the decor upstairs where the bedrooms are is darker than the light and airy feel of the ground floor, perhaps because it's not been updated as recently, but still has nice artwork on the walls and is clean and neat. Wifi strength was very hit and miss in the bedroom so perhaps boosters could be added.

We have been going to this little gem of a hotel for what must be 12 years and just love it !!!.Nestled between the Dorset countryside and beautiful sea views it is a must....in the last year or so it has been taken over and I can honestly say it certainly doesn't disappoint, the new owner doing his best to put his own stamp on it and revamping the bedrooms and other area's of the hotel.The food in the hotel is of top quality and cooked to perfection, make sure you book a table in the restaurant for your evening meal you won't be disappointed....compliments to the chef !!! All the staff were happy and professional with nothing to much trouble...thank you all for a great stay ....

The hotel was lovely and in a very good location. The room had a lovely view of the sea and was only a 10 minute stroll to the beach and coastal paths. The hotel room was compact but had the necessary things to hang clothes and it had tea and coffee facilities. The bed although quite small double was comfortable, this was discussed before we had the room and we were happy. The breakfast was beautiful and there was plenty of choice. The staff were friendly and attentive.

The country roads were narrow and you really need to drive carefully. This is not the hotels fault, but something to keep in mind. The ensuite was incredibly small and there wasn't a hairdryer in the room. But it wasn't huge a problem.

Totally gorgeous location, stunning scenery, fantastic staff- they were all super helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, attentive. On arrival, we were lucky to be upgraded to a newly renovated ground floor suite with a sun terrace. It was decorated beautifully, felt very luxurious, with a coffee pod machine, biscuits, chocolates, big selection of teas, bottles of water, lovely big fluffy towels, incredibly comfortable huge bed, fabulous pillows, and a stunning view of the sea. It was wonderful to be able to sit in the evening with a delicious cocktail (made with gin from the village) on our private terrace and then have a morning coffee in bed with a view of the ocean, we felt truly spoilt! Breakfast was superb with a wide variety of cereals, fruits, yogurt, bacon, local sausages and the most delicious eggs Benedict I’ve ever had. The eggs are so fresh and had the brightest yellow yolk! We can’t wait to come back and book the same room when the sun deck is finished and the hot tub is installed!

breakfast: the cold selection was a little light on variety however what was on offer was excellent.. You then has a choice of hot breakfast items to choose from.. this was excellent Dinner in the restaurant/bar was also excellent.. slightly more expensive than the pub up the road but worth it as the quality was very good.. Our room was very large with a super king bed.. The decoration was good and rooms very clean.. There is a lovely sunny veranda that gets the sun till late in the day and was lovely to sit out there with the sea view.

The Bar closed at 10pm week days and 10.30pm at the weekend.. As the hotels location is quite remote I'd have liked to have been able to enjoy the other residents company a bit longer.. however this was off season and I'm sure when its busy this would probably change..

Wonderful location by the sea, really friendly staff, thoughtful welcome treats which were greatly appreciated. The rooms are far better than the photos as they are clearly undergoing / have undergone refurbishment

It's not the most beautiful building from the outside but don't judge a book by its cover. Going off the changes made inside already, the owners have got a vision for this place and we will definitely stay again in the future

Genuinely lovely, helpful staff at reception, in the bar and restaurant, and room service. They handled everything well and made our New Year stay a real treat. They clearly have a good chef as the food was tasty and plentiful, and that was eating in the Admirals Bar restaurant rather than the full a la carte option. The batter on the cod was first class (not always a given by any means!). The hotel is very close to the beach and the coastal path, with a short 'up and over' to West Bay, and a longer walk the other way to Seatown. The weather when we went was awful (wind and rain that soaked us) but it didn't dampen the fun too much and we had two good walks. The room (we booked a 'superior' for the view) was a good size and, being a corner room, had views to the sea and to the hills to the side of the hotel. Nicely decorated and clean. We would definitely consider staying at the Eype's Mouth Country Hotel again. Recommended.

There were minor things about the bathroom, such as the low water pressure on the shower, but we had such a nice stay overall that it just didn't matter that much.
