Pretty, quiet location, free car parking. We had dinner a la carte in restaurant as the bar was fully booked, it was a bit pricey but it was very tasty. Breakfast was also great with proper pot of tea, good fry up with delicious button mushrooms, mini pastries & fruit with Greek yogurt, a lovely surprise. People working there were very helpful& friendly throughout. I said I was cold but couldn’t put radiators on in room so they put central heating on to whole house.

We were in the corner ground floor bedroom of main house, which was nice enough but smelt badly of musty damp, even with window open for couple of hours. Old lead windows were difficult to open & close & can hear footsteps straight through of people going pst. It was quiet at night though, no one about. En suite sink too big for room, making it difficult to get to toilet & certainly couldn’t dry or change in there! Weirdly shower was great size but also signs of damp & mould on the net curtain - extraction fan that didn’t work so no wonder!

The infrastructure is an eclectic, eccentric mix of old and older. vintage cars and buildings that are in need of management on a senior level. There is damage to the sandstone/limestone construction through poor maintenance and the inability to see acoustic shock by military aircraft. there is competition in 2 pubs next to each other-owned by the same person?

There were cobwebs in the hotel reception, which indicates poor facility management and routine cleaning, supervision or management of the process. In the kitchen windows, both were wide open-only 1 had a fly screen-again-basic food hygiene management would indicate a lack of consistency.

We had an excellent meal in the evening. The hotel had a musical event on the evening of our stay but despite having to deal with the needs of the 70 people attending, our food in the Lakeside Restaurant was delivered on time and the quality was superb. One of the bar/restaurant staff went out of her way to make us cocktails that were not on the Lakeside restaurant list but came from another of the hotel's venues. We were impressed with the numerous events hosted by the hotel during the year - they seem very busy and very popular.

This is a very eclectic venue and parts date from 13th century. This makes it a very interesting place to stay and we did enjoy our time there. The only downside for us was the decor of our bedroom (can't speak for the other rooms) which could have been brighter with more modern fixtures and fittings.

A lovely peaceful spot to stay with beautiful surroundings to wander around. We stayed for 2 nights with the intention of having a relaxing break and doing a little sightseeing. We weren't disappointed and although situated in the countryside we were within close driving distance to visit Sherborne with it's wonderful Abbey, Clarks Shopping Village and Glastonbury. We enjoyed eating at Haselbury Mill restaurant, loved the ambience, the food was great and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. In fact all of the staff that we came across during our stay were cheerful and helpful and helped to make our stay pleasurable. Our room was clean and serviced daily, it was adequately heated and the shower was powerful and easy to use.

The only gripe I would have if I had to find one was the rose outside our room could have done with a little pruning so we could see out of the window . Although the room seemed freshly decorated the colour of the paint could have been a warmer shade to give the room a cosier feel rather than pale blue. Other than that I would highly recommend Haselbury Mill as a place to stay and would definitely stay again if we revisit the area.

Haselbury Mill is a very picturesque destination, with something for everyone. Rooms are in an eighteenth century house, close to the river Parrett which has a long distance walking trail. There is a formal restaurant for dinner, but also a range of beach hut type shelters and a gypsy caravan in a popular pub garden, facilities for glamping and a mediaeval tithe barn for weddings. Staff were helpful and friendly, and the breakfast buffet service was excellent. The room was comfortable. There is a fair amount of walking between the house and the restaurant, so if you have mobility issues, I would recommend checking what assistance is available before booking.

Dinner in the restaurant was excellently cooked, but the menu was not varied and the offer for vegetarians and vegans was very limited. We could only find one main course which we wanted to try. The pizza oven only fired up on 2-3 evenings a week and there didn't seem to be any light meals or bar snacks available.

The staff were absolutely lovely. I felt they really liked & cared for the Mill which comes over as amazing customer service. Always welcomed with a smile and my dog was made to feel very much at home. The hotel and surrounding area is simply beautiful. We'll return again. In fact we were only booked for 5 nights then due to stay in another hotel in the north of Somerset for 5 nights. The other hotel was so abysmal and depressing we only stayed one night then returned to Haselbury Mill for 4 more nights. We stayed in the Haselbury suite which as lovely. Our dog was so happy to return too.

The bed in the riverside room is maybe due a new mattress soon as I could feel a couple of springs and when my boyfriend sat down or got up you could hear the springs quite noticeably.

I loved the surroundings and it’s ambiance. The bed was very comfortable and the room a nice size and well presented and very clean.

No teaspoons for tea lol I found it difficult doing the stairs for breakfast… shame it’s not downstairs. The brown leather seats are so uncomfortable. But maybe I should have said something. Please no pop music .. your clients I noticed were mostly of a certain age. Maybe look at some alternatives.

The staff were excellent at this hotel. The cooked breakfast was also excellent. We stayed in the Magnolia Suite and I have to say….the bed was huge. Best part about out stay to be honest. I think during the summer months, this location will be stunning. Hot air balloons took off just outside our window on the weekend of our stay. That was awesome.

My only niggle, was the tired carpets and curtains. A coat of fresh paint would have made a big difference too. But it didn’t ruin our stay.

Room was clean and comfortable. Bottles of mineral water were provided, which was much appreciated. The shower was very good. The window wouldn't open very easily. Dinner was high quality cooking. The service took a little longer than I am used to, but that gave me time to relax after travelling and a very busy day. Breakfast was excellent. The staff were all really lovely. The owner is a great character with plenty of stories!

The evening meal took a while. And the hotel is in the middle of nowhere, with only one local taxi firm who seems to get booked up. I had so much trouble getting a taxi, one of the hotel staff drove me to my appointment - which was extremely kind of them.

This is a historic location converted to its present use and as such is unique and unconventional, very different from the standard offering of the hotel chains. Our room, with newly refurbished en-suite bathroom, was part of an early nineteenth century stone house with a lovely well-tended garden. The staff are all friendly and helpful and we even had a fascinating short historical tour from owner Roger. There is a restaurant on site in a converted barn (though we did not use it and can't comment further) and our excellent breakfast was taken in the loft of the old water mill that gives its name to the hotel. We even witnessed three hot-air balloons taking off from the grounds.

This hotel is not only unique but also quirky, with the owner's collection of old vehicles spread around the grounds, which include a rather over-grown duck pond. For some this may add higgledy-piggledy charm but for others it will detract from the otherwise good impression, especially as some of the vehicles are not in the best condition. A bit of general tidying up wouldn't go amiss, though we understand that the vehicles are to be re-housed in a newly constructed museum elsewhere on the site.
