Holiday Inn Express Colchester

The hotel was clean the staff were very friendly there was an air of calmness around the hotel which you don`t seem to get in a lot of hotels we frequent when travelling for work, well done and we will definitely use this hotel again.

Nothing really it was an enjoyable experience the only downside was the restaurant closed at 9pm and we only arrived at 8.45 so missed the opportunity to use the restaurant.

Really surprised, the room was great and clean as was bathroom,shower good. We only stayed one night, came in at 10 pm, and left at 9 am. we slept really well, there was a bit of noise from the aircon. As in a lot of hotels. Breakfast was fine again all area's looked very clean. It was excellent value and will definitely use again.

From first booking in , to leaving all staff were excellent. Breakfast was good , evening meal was good . My wife and I had a very enjoyable experience at this hotel.

Had a little trouble gaining access to the hotel easy but the staff put my mind to rest and informed me of an easier route .

Very friendly , welcoming staff and so helpful. Quiet place. Clean room.

The carpets have spots. The bed as uncomfortable. Vegetarian breakfast was on request and takes 20 min to make which was a long time, so maybe ask the day before or have some prepared anyway.

I’m a night worker so it would be nice to check out later as I’m not getting enough sleep on check out day and need to work the following night. As for this hotel there was no outside lighting so at night it’s pitch black And thee is plenty of trip hazards in the car park. So for instance I parked around the back of the building and needed to walk around in the dark and you can not tell we’re the footpath was causing a trip hazard.

Car park not lit up at night there are plenty of lights out there but not turned on. Even if you turned a few on would make a great diff ranch and could save you an injury claim from someone tripping over

The staff were friendly and the hotel was nice. Would recommend and would stay again. Nice spacious place. Good breakfast. Good location to get to Clacton.

It was tucked away and hard to find. There needs to be better signs on the road so people can see them. There’s a small sign but that’s all I could eventually see. I had to ring to ask where it was situated. The rooms are nice but the beds need changing. They’re uncomfortable as could feel the springs and also every time my partner moved I feel like I was being shaken around. Apart from the beds the rooms are perfect.

Surprisingly very clean, beds comfortable. Bathroom clean. Only stayed 1 night and I hate hotels so this was lovely

No wardrobe

The staff here were so friendly. My wife had to join me at short notice after I'd had a fall outside (not on the hotel property I hasten to add) and they were tremendously helpful letting her into my room, because I was asleep. A lovely friendly restaurant with tasty food - nice curries, and the bar staff very helpful - nothing was too much trouble. A really comfortable stay.

This is not a criticism, just feedback and advice for travelers staying in future. Yes, it's the signage! It's best to punch in not the postcode but the actual hotel name into your SatNav - that will take you straight there. The postcode takes you to a Farm Shop (and a jolly nice one it is too, with a fabulous selection of Tiptree jams and chutneys. Well worth a look). What you need to do is drive out of the Farm Shop, then at the mini roundabout, take a sharp left onto what looks like a building site (because it IS a building site), then the hotel is beyond that. They are building a new Shell garage, and i expect when it's done, the hotel will be much more obvious.

Clean, comfortable and staff were helpful. Also I am disabled and the ground floor room near to the main entrance which I waa given was very conveniently placed. Family were also given a family room very near to me. We requested these facilities when we first booked plus also a disabled parking space. The hotel provided all we requeated.

Only one problem which was there was some construction work by another company going on just as you turn off at final mini roundabout to entrance so it appeared that the entrance was blocked and we did a complete unnecessary diversion before coming back to roundabout and discovering we could get in. Needs big sign pointing to Holiday Inn. Was great otherwise.

Really helpful friendly staff, nice clean facilities inside lovely welcoming lobby and the breakfast was great; plenty choice. My daughter is disabled and I request an accessible lower floor room when booking and this was all accommodated.

There were a problem with the drains outside carpark were flooded in parts and smelt foul. There were construction works taking place just outside the carpark and this made it difficult to locate the hotel as it were tucked away behind this site.
