Lovely staff. Very clean throughout. Super breakfast. Ate dinner in the restaurant, also very good. Very close to the centre and convenient for the castle and Mercury Theatre. I would certainly stay at this hotel again.

Paying for parking would have made the stay quite expensive. Luckily we had a reduced rate for Saturday at St Mary's car park as we had bought theatre tickets. After 6pm, we moved the car to the loading bay in front of the hotel and were able to leave it here for free until we left on Sunday afternoon. The room faced onto the street and noise from the street travelled up very clearly to the room. Not a major problem for us but if it had been, we could have shut the window and used the free-issue ear plugs supplied by the hotel.

The room was very clean and comfortable. Lovely shower, comfy bed. The restaurant area is nice & the breakfast was great. Restaurant also really clean & there was a great selection of books available to read while i sat & had dinner by myself. Very friendly and helpful staff, lovely.

New pillows definitely needed on the bed, mine were limp and hardly any filling in them. The room was very hot so I needed the windows open which meant it was really noisy as my room faced the street so I didn't sleep all night which was a shame as the room and bed were so nice.

All the staff was very helpful and pleasant. The room, although small was clean, fresh, and modern in feel. It had a good-sized en suite with a good strong shower. apart from the room size, which would have been an issue were we staying longer, the only issue was that the pillows were a bit thin. The two pillows I had were barely the thickness of one pillow, Still, we had a good night's sleep and all the bedding was bright and white, We had both an evening meal and a cooked breakfast and would eat here again. In fact, we would stay at this hotel, when next visiting Colchester. All in all, we had a lovely and comfortable stay and with the caveats on room size and pillows would recommend The North Hill

The room was small and the pillows were particularly thin

Everything about this hotel was amazing. It was cheap without it feeling and looking cheap. The staff were really welcoming from the minute we set foot through the door. Special mention to Julie who was a real gem; so engaging and genuine. Theres a restaurant on site, breakfast was exceptional. The bar is well stocked and not excessively priced. Rooms were spacious and the beds were super comfy. Had a great night sleep. Location - central colchester, high street is a short walk away.

The room was nicely laid out and adequately furnished and the bed very comfortable. Being in an old hotel, in an old part of Colchester the floor retained the period property features! The staff were great, welcoming and friendly taking the time to find out about us and our reason for staying. The food however, passed our expectations and we can highly recommend The Green Room restaurant for the food and for the service, my steak was cooked to perfection and my wife enjoyed her fish too. The wine was excellent.

Unfortunately it was one of the hottest weeks of the year and the room we were in was rather small and faced North Hill, so we had little choice but to have the window open. There was a fan provided but it was rather noisy. The hotel did supply ear plugs which was a nice and welcome touch. Worth bearing this in mind if staying there in the summer months!

Room size and facilities were amazing value for the price I paid, location was amazing as we were there for a wedding and everything was in walking distance. Breakfast was including for each morning and which my partner had the full English and raved about it, and the coffee offered with breakfast was lovely!

Only small things, ceiling peeling in the bathroom slightly and noise level from the street but that is out of their control it’s a main road. We had to have the windows open due to the heat so was a lot of noise but they provided a fan and when the windows closed you couldn’t hear a thing.

Room was lovely, and clean and bathroom was a great size. Excellent amount of tea and coffee making facilities. Bed was comfortable. Could not really fault it. There were even ear plugs provided as we were at the front of the hotel which is on a main street so was a little noisy but it was a great touch. They also provided a fan so if you wanted to shut the window you could but I need fresh air in these hot conditions due to health problems.

No hotel parking although we were lucky to park on the street outside due to our time of stay as there were no restrictions after 6pm on Saturday, if we had been staying mid-week it would have been more cost as we may have had to pay for the parking., depending on restriction times Slightly loud as at the front of the hotel, but they had provided ear plugs which was a good touch.

The reception staff were friendly and very helpful. The breakfast is well cooked, the room was clean, and with a kettle, coffee, tea, biscuits and two bottles of water every day. The evening meal was also delicious. The location (though noisy) is very convenient.

Very noisy, most of the night, and it was rather stuffy if we closed the window and double-glazing. One night and into the next morning, the boiler went off and there was no hot water. Bed not very comfortable, and very creaky. No parking.

Stayed here before, good location with the superstore and train station a stone throw away. Staff are very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was lovely and good choice of food and drinks.

No disabled parking unless there's a free space out the front which there has not been the 2 times I have stayed. But there is an Npc car park within a minutes walking distance. It is also located on a hill which is a bit of a pain but, it's not the end of the world.

The North Hill Hotel has extremely helpful and courteous staff. The location for the city is excellent as it's a short walk to shops, restaurants, museums etc.

It's on a main road, which I knew from the description and if I were to return I would ask for a room at the back. It was very hot during our stay so we needed the windows open. A fan was provided but we still needed some cool night air!! I sure it's perfect in the winter!
