Excellent range of foods available, well presented and cooked

Strong objection to having to pay £6 per night to park in the hotel's private car park. It seems that hotels in Exmouth have jumped on the "let's exploit the motorist to the limit" bandwagon which has spread like a plague throughout the UK. The Yale door lock was loose and badly in need of repair/replacing, as was the security chain lock on the sliding patio door. When I asked for two glasses of Chardonnay with the evening meal I was told that it could be provided, but by the bottle only and later, when I once again attempted to purchase Chardonnay "by the glass" I received the same reply, so instead we left the hotel and found a nearby bar which was happy to provide what we wanted.

Very comfortable inside and with lovely gardens and and could not be better located right on the esplanade - through the bar, across the gardens, over the road, and you're on the superb dog-friendly beach with wonderful views along the Riviera coatline. Room had a sea view without even asking and dog-friendly. There's a bar you might actually want to spend some time in with good food available and a terrace looking over the gardens. Staff quite friendly and accommodating. Minutes from the Starcross ferry (cash only and the prices have gone up a bit but absolutely worth it for the trip to Dawlish Warren) and minutes from Exmouth centre and the railway station. Less than that for The Grove (really great food) and the fish and chip restaurant with a view (also dog-friendly). The centre of Exmouth is not too shabby for a seaside resort.

The exterior needs an overhaul as it's seen better days. Only two teabags in the room! Shower a bit feeble. Breakfast buffet (extra) was ok, though they could keep it a bit warmer. Radio spoiled the bar, but you can sit outside.

We always request the same room as we love the view, The room was large, clean and contained everything needed for a peaceful break. Standing in its own gardens, opposite the beach and just a short stroll into town it is the perfect location for a break in Exmouth. The Breakfast basic but adequate with the fresh fruit salad a personal favorite and the cooked breakfast buffet was refreshed frequently.

Furnishings in the room are a little tired and the couch is uncomfortable. You cant see the TV from the bed due to it being 4 poster but we dont really go to watch TV with such a fabulous view. The cooked breakfast was basic with items being removed since we last stayed (ie only scrambled eggs and no mushrooms) but perfectly adequate. We asked for the windows to be cleaned when we arrived due to all the seagull mess but the seagulls doubled their efforts the next day which cant be helped.

We received an upgrade as there was an event on in the main breakfast / dinner room which meant I was worried about my room not being quiet and I need quiet due to my neurological disorder.. No extra payment. The room was clean and comfortable with a good amount of tea coffee a large tv and sea views. Staff were also really helpful for the duration of the stay. It was a five minute walk to the beach/ prom and five minutes into the town centre.

The outside of the hotel looks run down and does not compare to the cleanliness of the inside. It was a shame as this does not reflect the quality of the hotel. It was a bit over our budget but we could not find anywhere else!

Friendly and helpful staff Room looked out to the sea front and gardens. Clean and bright room.and bathroom Comfy bed with two comfy pillows Crisp white cotton duvet cover and sheets. Duvet cover longer at the bottom so it could tuck under the mattress at the end of thr bed. Good range and ammount of complimentary coffee and tea. Tissues in room Good towels and bathmat Window that opened! Nice liquid soap in dispensers in bathroom

Shower itself very poor, had to hold in hand and shower down. Needs more pressure and new shower head. Slightly smelly room - bit musty Mug very tiny! Need new bigger mugs! Plastic disposable glass for water Carpets throughout tired and wornout on stair edges in corridors. Lift a bit clonky and slow. Having to pay £6 to park the car in their car park overnight!

when we arrived, we were told by the receptionist that they were a little shortstaffed, so things took a little longer but our experience of our stay If they were shortstaffed, then they did absolutely exceptional, restaurant, bar and room cleaning exceptional.

The room was spotlessly clean, but the bed had seen better days did mention this to the receptionist who seemed to take exception and told us that it was a new mattress. If it was it was cheap did feel that she was looking for an argument, but was not going to allow her to spoil our stay as the staff Pete in the bar, and Rosie in the restaurant were astounding, and the manageress was friendly and very helpful feel the receptionist needs training?

The Imperial Hotel Exmouth has three important strengths. First is its location, situated in large grounds on the Esplanade only a very short distance from a sandy beach, it is also a short distance from the town centre with a multitude of small shops and alfresco dinning. Secondly is its staff, friendly, helpful, and approachable who take your comments seriously and do their very best to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. For anyone having breakfast and dinner this is the place to be. The food really is first class from the full English breakfast (multiple other options) to the three-course evening meal. The menu is both varied and imaginatively presented. Would I return to this hotel? I will be booking my next stay shortly.

It was exceptional value for money. Our dog was made to feel welcome and there is a special area set aside for those guests who do not wish to leave their dog in the bedroom whilst dining. Our family room was spacious, warm and light with a fantastic view of the seafront and illuminations. Location was great, near to the beach and close to the shops, all on the level. The food was superb, breakfast buffet all fresh and hot with really good quality items. The evening meal was excellent with a good choice of items, beautifully presented. Fiona in the restaurant was particularly attentive and very knowledgeable about the history of the hotel and area. We will definitely return.

We liked everything

superb location just yards from the beach. We had a sea view which was excellent. the room was large and comfortable and it was serviced for the second night. The breakfast was buffet style, thus it was "as much as you could eat". We ate at the bar in the evenings. The food was good--typical "pub grub". The hotel had a balcony which you could access from the bar, so a nice G&T could be enjoyed in the evening sunshine.

The car parking arrangements left a lot to be desired. Why charge hotel guests to park their car! When I queried this the receptionist became rather agitated. If a charge must be made why itemise it?. Just add it to the tariff.
