We stayed in room 6 at The Cockhaven Arms. It was very spacious with a lovely view. The bed was huge and very comfy with quality bedding and pillows. The bathroom was roomy and had a walk in shower, shower gel and liquid soap was provided. There was a well stocked tea and coffee tray. The room was beautifully decorated. It is a family room with two singles in the room next door but we didn’t use it as there were only two of us (only room left when we booked). Breakfast was delicious with lots of choices and lovely coffee including properly brewed decaf. We chose to eat there 2 evenings too and the food was great. Try the Wednesday steak night, great value.

Family room was perfect for us and our two children with a separate room separated by a door with twin beds for the children. The main bedroom had a huge super long bed which was extremely comfortable. The breakfast - great. All the classics available to order to be made fresh. Fab quality and served hot! Dinner - lovely gastro pub style food with some fancy fish dishes. Went for local Torbay sole which was lush. Whole family enjoyed their food very much. Style - done out in a lovely style. Lovely beer garden to sit and enjoy the sun. All in all I’d recommend this place for a relaxing ‘all under one roof’ place to stay in Torbay. We shall return.

If I could make any comment for improvement I’d suggest perhaps touching up the paintwork in some areas like bedside tables, bathroom walls and window ledge areas. No biggie AT ALL but would just elevate appearance that little bit more.

Firstly the staff. The welcome we had from Tiernan Scarlett Emma was a feeling of coming home to your family. We had been scammed on a caravan and the relief of finding this simply amazing place was a huge breath of fresh air. We came back again for 4 more nights. With 2 pups it was hard work the staff helped me so much. Holding the pups so I could pack car. I cannot rate this place on everything enough. All STAFF The food is reallly outstanding, try the scrambled egg. 😊😊 The grounds Everything i have stayed in a place that I have fallen in love with until Cockhaven Arms ❤️

The pub is in a lovely quiet location and in a great place to explore the surrounding beaches. The staff were really friendly and accommodating. The owners were kind enough to accept a late booking with our dog in a room that wasn’t designated for furry friends due to its size so we were super grateful to them for this. There were good tea and coffee making facilities in the room and fresh water was provided on both days. A fan is also provided, which was very helpful as the room was really hot. The garden is lovely with lots of pots and hanging baskets and there is plenty of parking available. The food is really good, we ate in the restaurant both evenings and were not disappointed and the breakfast was lovely too.

Just a few minor issues, the room was small for the price paid and very hot. The window doesn’t lock and as it faces out onto a flat roof we felt that security could possibly be an issue. There is also zero privacy in the room as the big window looks directly into the car park (only the TV offers any screening). The soap dispenser by the sink doesn’t work and the toilet doesn’t flush properly. The bottom of the shower surround door also needs attention. This said, it wouldn’t stop us from returning or recommending the pub.

What a lovely hotel... Booked for a stay-over with my son after collecting him from Exeter Uni and before driving back to Kent. The owners had upgraded our rooms which was a thoughtful gesture and we both had very comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated rooms. I was upgraded to the Bridal Suite which had a separate lounge and a lovely large bathroom so had a very comfortable night and I woke to the most beautiful view from my bedroom window - simply gorgeous on what was a bright, blue sky morning. We ate in the restaurant and had a lovely meal sat in their conservatory which we really couldn't fault and chatted to some very friendly locals. Service from all the staff was very good and it had a very "home from home" feel about the place which I liked and could relax in after my 4+ hr drive. Lovely stay would recommend.

The Cockhaven Arms was excellent and superb value for money. Our hosts were really friendly and welcoming on arrival and quickly sorted our booking and showed us to our room. The room was a great size with a large bed, plenty of storage for our clothes, fantastic bathroom with large shower, TV, tea and coffee facilties and even patio doors out onto a small private terrace with a table and two chairs. After settiling in we went for a long walk before returning to eat in their restaurant, which again is lovely, and the food is of a very high standard and great value. We ate their for each of our four nights stay, something different each time from the extensive menu and every time the food was excellent. Staying with food, breakfast each morning was freshly prepared and great quality again. The bar was pleasant and cozy and frequented by lots of locals who we got chatting to on a number of occassions. There's car parking at the front and a large car park at the back too, so plenty of parking. Bishopsteignton is a lovely quiet village but perfect as a base for walking in every direction. Teignmouth is about 2.5 miles away and Newton Abbott is about 3.5 miles. Overall there was nothing not to like about the Cockhaven Arms and I would defintely recommend a stay whether one night or a week.

Absolutely nothing!

we booked this location due to attending a wedding reception at the vineyard which was three minutes up the road, so was perfect.

would be good to put vegetarian/ vegan breakfast options on the menu instead of having to ask. Also to have soya milk in a jug with the normal milk that was put out for the cereal & on the breakfast tables laid up.Nowadays you should not have to ask for these, it’s not an option, it’s a requirement for many.

Breakfast was amazing, obviously very good produce, good choices also.Delicious evening meal, fish and chips were fabulous.

We had a deluxe suit which was beautiful light and airy but not sure why the television with ugly wiring on display and fixed into the floor was necessary, plonked at the end of the bed on a dressing table, there was a television a few steps away in the lounge area so feel this completely spoiled the look and feel of this lovely bedroom.

We were extremely pleased with almost everything. The overall experience was excellent.

We booked for dinner on our first evening having firstly looked at the menu as my partner is vegetarian and we were pleased to see that there were 3 vegetarian options. We had booked the table for 7.30pm and arrived at the restaurant at 7.15pm and were shown to our table only to be told that 2 of the vegetarian options were not available. We were rather disappointed.

Our personal plans were changing daily and we found Emma and the rest of her staff extremely helpful and accommodating. I have stayed in the area a number of times over the years and this is the third time we have stayed at the Cockhaven Arms (it being one of our favourites), I would certainly recommend it to anyone wanting a good comfortable base that serves good food and has a bar with great atmosphere. It is definitely worth a visit even if you are not staying but just want dinner and an evening by the fire having a drink or two.
