Oxgang Kitchen Bar & Rooms

What a find this was. I needed a place within shouting distance of Knockhill and I lucked out here. Ok so the place has three facets, the bar, the restraint and the rooms (its not really a hotel as such) but its bloody good. I was lucky straight away in the fact that it gave me an upgrade without me asking. Then the restaurant was superb. The pizza was absolutely cracking so much so I had it twice in two nights. Add to that a cracking vibe in the bar made it so I couldn’t just stay in my room due to FOMO. It literally was that good. I may keep accepting Knockhill gigs just to come stay here if I can…..

The property was easy to find and very comfortable, the staff were so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us we only spoke with them briefly but they were so kind and lovely 10/10 for the staff

The only flaw with the hotel was the lack of plug sockets we had to move the kettle from where it originally was to the bedside table to plug it in, which of course isn’t the end of the world but wasn’t ideal. It was also a bit tricky trying to dry my hair as the i again had to plug my hair dyer into the bedside table plug socket which didn’t quite reach the mirror.

Spacious room for the price and ease of check-in/out. Convenient location for visiting friends nearby and close to the Kelpies and the Falkirk Wheel. The bar and outdoor area at the front of the hotel were pleasant.

We used the contact telephone number in the room for assistance but we did not receive a response. We were unable to eat there in the evening as there was a considerable waiting time due to a large booked birthday party (we did not book).

We took 2 large-ish dogs and the room was spacious for us and them. We could adjust the radiator heat ourselves, which was great as I like a cool room, and the windows opened to allow a cool breeze with 2 hairdriers going and rushing around. The beds were really comfy and we had a great peaceful sleep. Staff were lovely and chatty and gave us direction to a park 2 minutes away to walk the dogs. Great choice of food from their street food menu to the real comfort food of home made Mac n'Cheese and the highly recommended Balmora l Chicken. Everything was fresh, cooked to perfection and presentation was well thought out with the little details. We stayed 1 night and went to our function the following morning after checking out but were impressed by our meal the night before so returned for a celebratory lunch before heading home

Just tiny niggles. A mirror on dresser and full length one would have been handy for getting ready and a bit more power in the shower. Other than that no complaints. Maybe a heat mat for those guests that can be careless with straighteners etc Spotlessly clean, great staff, amazing food. Definitely recommend.

On arrival we were greeted by staff member, she was really lovely but never got to know her name. She showed us to the room, which was really spacious and overlooking main entrance of the hotel. Hotel has really lovely entrance with all flowers blooming, its clean, tidy, the same as room. We have booked a table in their restaurant, and I can only recommend everyone to visit it. Menu is simple but I believe everyone can find something what he/she likes. Portions were HUGE! Two of us were sharing Nachos starter, which had plenty of cheese on top as well as other sauces/sides coming with it. Onto main, presentation 10 out of 10. I have ordered a kebab dish, and did not expect to be that fancy. It was definitely exceeding expectations when it comes to presentation or taste of food. Well done to the kitchen team! I have to mention waiting staff as well, for Friday night and how busy the place was, they were fantastic! Always polite, checking if our food is okay or we if need more drinks. Service is on high level indeed and some of more 'posh' restaurants could come and learn from these guys. I just hope they are rewarded for their hard work and would like to thank them again for a great experience! P.S. Loved the bay windows in our bedroom.

The only thing I would mention is that I got a feeling from bedroom that owner goes with a theme - keep it simple - which is alright, but would appreciate a little hook for hand towel next to the wash basin.

The staff were absolutely lovely. The hotel guide book in the room was also very handy! The room was clean and fresh went we arrive. I was also very pleasantly surprised by the number of vegan options available in the restaurant! It made my evening!

The only constructive feedback I would give about the room was there a broken part of the door handle in our room (8 if I remember correctly), just in case you weren't aware! It didn't effect us in any way, it was just one of those things you notice. In terms of food, a vegan dessert option which isn't sorbet would make me buy a dessert no matter how full I am because we never get desserts in non-vegan restaurants!

Due to Covid restrictions we didn't have the option of breakfast but we knew that before we arrived. We had lunch in the bar on one day: good service, nice food, and good value for money. The pub garden was very nice and, unusually for Scotland in April, a very sunny pleasant place to sit. Our bed was very comfortable and 6 foot wide. The shower worked well and everything was spotlessly clean. Checkout was easy, we just left the room key by the bed. We had an outing to see and have a ride on the Falkirk Wheel. Well worth a visit.

The duvet was only 6' square, a Super King duvet would have given better coverage but, that said, we were not uncomfortable.

Young man was very nice and friendly checking us in and showing us around. Park car round the back. Food in restaurant was excellent - great menu and good value. Room was very big, spacious shower room. Big TV. Quiet at night. We booked a small.double but maybe we were upgraded? Bed just a double size though. Used for stop off before early flight from Edinburgh.

The bed was so nice and comfy. Large room, which was fantastic. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room were good. Even though you are on a main Street facing the road, we heard nothing all night. Loved the fact you could open a window and regulate your heating. A rarity even in the more expensive hotels now. The staff were very helpful, friendly and made us feel at home. We ate in the pub with our dog, and we couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. Even the locals were chatty and nice to us. The food was ridiculously good! And excellent value for money too with a good variety of choice. We had such a good stay that we would definitely be back soon.

The pillows were so flat. If they had decent pillows, our stay would have gone from excellent to perfect! But it wouldn't stop us from staying again. The low water pressure in the shower. Still had a shower though 👍

Lovely big room with comfy bed. Modern toilet and shower room. Restaurant and bar on site were very handy and food was great. The room rate was excellent and just exactly what we neededfor an overnight stay before very early airport run. We would use the hotel again.

We were in room to rear of hotel which was very quiet. Not so sure how it would be for rooms above bar area. Other than that the room and hotel were great value for money.
