The Villa Country House Hotel

Breakfast was buffet with a good choice of hot food to order. Lunch was a good selection of sandwiches and light bites.I had the ham and apple chutney sandwich.Delicious.. Dinner was very good ,again a good selection to choose from. The room was comfortable,lovely and warm but would have preferred a walk in shower. Staff were all very friendly and helpful.

The only thing I didn’t like was the fact that it was so very cold in the bar and restaurant during dinner.I did ask about the lack of heating and was told that it couldn’t be put on.We would have had a couple more drinks after dinner if it hadn’t been so cold.

Lovely location in own grounds on edge of very pretty village close to Lythsm that has nice beach and facilities. Good level of accommodation , Bars and restaurant . Rooms and en-suites good standard , clean and well fitted out. Comfortable bed . Food and menu choices excellent and well priced vfm . Staff pleasant and helpful even when busy.

It has big and very good standard function rooms at the rear of the premises that are obviously pop like locally . On our first night it was a wedding party and the second a masked ball. No problem during early evening and or when those attending were in that rear area. However on the first night numbers of wedding guests were still allowed to be noisily drinking in the area at the front of the hotel outside right under the bedrooms windows at 2am. One of our group Had to ring reception before someone told them to stop !

The Villa is a beautiful property in the midst of large grounds. The receptionist was very friendly and also recommended nearby pubs. Though it is outside the main village, there is a short walk to the village pub, the duck pond and a Spar if you need something. Although the path may be unsuitable in bad weather. The breakfast was great and you can order your hot breakfast so you are not stuck with the same sausage and bacon in the mornings.

The rooms can do with some renovation, I stayed in the ground floor and the room needed TLC. The wifi is bad and as the network is bad as well, it is difficult to communicate online, great if you are here for a digital detox. BBC One channel did not have any sound.

There was a very strange main light in the room, which made the room really dark all the time. The bathroom and areas of the bedroom were not very clean and the next day after our first night the cleaner came, made the bed and straightened the towels but did not clean anywhere, there were cobwebs all over the bathroom ceiling, my daughter spilt false tan which was easily rinsed off, we were running late, so didn't clean it up, it was still all over the bath when we returned, nothing had been cleaned.

Breakfast-very good choice, able to order individual breakfast dishes especially prepared. We had a surprise in that we were given a huge bedroom and living room on 2 floors. Lunch had a wide choice of selections. High levels of service, white gloved waiting service. Great reception staff, local, warm and welcoming.

Nothing, a wonderful hotel in a great setting. Easy to get to all the sights. As I used to live in the area, I know the train station is a short distance down the road. So could travel by train or use when you get here. The hotel is in the most prettiest of local Fylde villages with a local pub and duck pond. Lots of local circular walks from the door.

I liked the hotel location in the country just past the village pond. Idyllic. Easy to get to "before" the roadworks!! The roadworks caused chaos and added another 4/5 miles to our journey in and out of Kirkham. Breakfast was lovely - and a very nice choice, including freshly baked breads, croissants etc. The toaster was extremely fast which meant the cooked breakfast was not sitting until it got cold. Coffee was served immediately on sitting down. There was an extensive choice on the bar menu and the dinner menu was very nice - however it was not possible to have a lighter meal after 6 p.m. Having said that - the food served was very nice. We had brought our friends in to join us and they too were disappointed that the lighter meals were not available after 6 p.m.

I had specifically requested to be placed as far away from any smoking area. Our room was situated directly above where EVERYONE stood and smoked. I was extremely disappointed in this - it appeared I was given the opposite of what I had requested. It meant I was unable to open the window. I was still able to smell the smoke on occasions. Personally I absolutely detest smokers standing immediately outside entrances - it is NOT a good look - never mind being detrimental to health. I liked the room overall - but was annoyed to discover where I was placed. Reception staff on leaving could have been more friendly. Bar and restaurant staff very good and breakfast staff very good - food was really good.

This was our second stay at the Villa. Our suite was lovely and comfortable, and the food was excellent. The staff were helpful and attentive. The visit was for my wife's birthday. The afternoon tea I booked was excellent and the request I made to avoid seafood was fulfilled. Thank you for the attention to detail.

We did find the young female bar staff were quite noisy (laughing and giggling), while customers were eating, which we thought was unprofessional.

We were exhausted after a long journey full of roadworks and diversions and our stay rejuvenated us. In particular the staff were all helpful, putting themselves out to open doors for us, explain routes to avoid roadworks and accommodate specific meal requirements. Both our evening meals were good, one very innovative. We shared the cheeseboard and were both brought plates and wrapped butter (at the right temperature). Seating was in one of the many alcoves, ours by a window. Room was good with all facilities working. Breakfast had most options available. The building and grounds are very pleasant.

Nothing seriously wrong. The following are being very pernickety. One of the salads was dead (no dressing) and an end of one of the cheeses had been left exposed. One of the house red wines was acceptable but no more. The bread for breakfast was not as good as I would have expected. There was some rubbish in the garden (& in the trees!) outside our room.

Just about everything. It was excellent value for money and runs rings around all the previous accommodation in this price range that I've stayed at, (some of them really need to lift their game). It was quiet, spacious, in beautifully presented grounds with good, reasonably priced evening meals on site. The bed was comfortable and, importantly, the curtains were thick enough not to let in light in the morning.

There was nothing not to like about The Villa Country House hotel. They seem to have got everything just about right. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Constructive feedback. Cigarette smoke blowing into our room, room 2, from just outside reception. The room had a musty smell and we couldn't air the room by opening the window due to the smoking area outside reception. My wife is deaf. We mentioned this when booking. The subtitles for the TV in our room were not working. Fault with TV maybe. The smell of marujuana in the corridor outside the room.
