Lovely surprise to find that our 'room' was divided into two separate sleeping areas. Sofa and coffee table with TV, kettle, tea and coffee, microwave, hairdryer and all toiletries. They thought of everything. It was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The bistro downstairs was amazing. The Manager/Chef Matt was very accommodating and couldn't do enough to ensure we had a great stay. Jamie the waiter/barman was very attentive and looked after us very well. Nothing was a problem. They also gave us a 15% discount on the restaurant bill as we were residents. We would highly recommend staying here as its a great overnight stop if you are touring the Lakes like we were.

The town is very quiet and doesn't have many shops which didn't bother us as we were touring around and had had a long day sightseeing.

This place was ideal location for us as wanted to walk Scarfell Pike. As weather wasn’t great we extended our stay to an extra night. Was a little mix up of rooms but all was well and was well sorted by all staff. Rooms were large very clean beds comfy showers on the small size but very hot and powerful. Only tea/coffee in room and microwave which was ideal we were prepared with plates & cutlery took microwave meal & bacon for breakfast so all worked for us. Ideal with rubbish bin just out on street. Didn’t eat at bistro but menu looked good and reasonable. Plenty of takeaways around and co-op few doors down. Very close to beach too as enjoyed a trip to St Bees too stretch legs.

Very basic but perfect for what we needed otherwise no complaints from us. If your tall mind your head going upstairs.

I can't fault The Cat Inn, it's exceptionally good value for money, the Mattresses are Excellent Quality and I have taken a photo of the British Manufacturer, as I had the Best Sleep in such a Very Long Time, as did My Fiance Alastair and My Daughter Linzi. It was lovely to have Our own little sitting room, Large En-suite with Rain Forest Double Shower Head plus, The Microwave was an added Bonus. Unfortunately, we didn't get the chance of sampling the Food, as we were staying only for 1 night but, we will definitely be back soon ourselves and would highly recommend it to anyone who is planning on staying in that area of Cumbria. We were able to park right outside the Front Door, which is perfect as both Alastair and myself are registered Disabled.

Needs a little TLC, decor wise, and a hint of a Cat was detected at the bottom of the Stairs up to Our Room, (didn't put us off, as we have a Cat of Our Own). We thought it was aptly Named....The Cat Inn.😉

Lovely room with an en suite bathroom and a area with a small sofa and tv to relax in. Also had tea/coffee facilities and a microwave which was a nice touch if you are ever stuck for food. Lovely and quite and separate as had top floor to ourselves so dog settled lovely. Have a lovely dog friendly pub downstairs that you can bring your dog to to enjoy a lovely meal; our pooch was truly spoilt there as was even given a bone :) no issues with any noise due to being higher up and the pub finishes by around 11pm due to being more a food establishment. Very good value for money. Parking is available on the road outside. Good place to be as dog friendly beach less than 20mins drive away and nearest lake about 35mins drive away. The place is situated on a high street so easy to grab any convenience food and there is a castle ruins about 10mins walk away.

Shower was a little small due to its curved shape.

central to Egremont, very old building with character, the apartment was good, the beds very comfy! microwave in the room. staff were very friendly. food in restaurant was fantastic!

lay out of the beds could be better with the double bed being up against a wall meaning one of us had to crawl out of the end to go to the toilet. a table lamp would of been advantageous, as the overhead lights were too bright at times, especially if you tried to read. the shower had no tray in it to put your shower gel on whilst taking a shower, although there was a microwave there was no cutlery/plates if you wanted to use it. only niggles really rather than a complaint.

For the price and location this suited perfectly. I much prefer independent places to corporate giants. The food was very good..Perfect risotto and well prepared steak. The onion rings are awesome. Free parking is a bonus. Very friendly staff. Tip. If you want to eat here booking is essential. It is the only place in town offering a sit down evening meal. But if they have no bookings they do not open. The food is great so get booked in. Great WiFi. Which is essential for me.

It looks a bit dated but I believe a refresh is on the cards soon.

Size of room Good facilities including free Netflix and a fridge freezer which I have never previously encountered

I booked on a day when there were NO staff.they were helpful on the phone but the email commu I action was confusing- 4 or 5 emails which were not duplicates There was also confusion over how many nights I had booked - potentially alarming if they have my card details and might overcharge

Central location - room very comfortable and clean, quiet for sleeping. Staff very helpful. The area is very attractive, and everyone we met were very friendly. We had a tranquil and restful stay.

Restaurant not open Sunday evening, Mondays and Tuesdays ( just happened to be when we stayed). Bathroom needs a shelf for storing toiletries etc.and a proper light ( extremely dim light)
