Cliff Hotel

We stayed for 8 days over christmas ..just perfect thank you all so much for all your hard work .We come often so wont be to long before we are back .Christmas quiz night was full of laughter thank you Jordan ..Buffet was lovely thank you chef and lovely Angie ..David and klem are so welcoming ..Maggie is a star as usual always up for giggle ..kirsty and egle are Angels always so helpful and love a good natter ..House keeping thank you for looking after us ...Happy new year to you all see you all soon.

Maybe a foot of snow ..

The hotel was in a lovely location, easy to find, the staff all friendly and helpful. The room was clean and spacious (we stayed in the cliff suite). We enjoyed looking into the history of the cliff hotel also, originally such a grand looking building.

We found out a week or so after we booked that we were likely to be disturbed till 12am with loud nusic due to an event being on, on the saturday night, on the night in question we realised our room was right above the events hall. If we had ve known when we booked, we may have thought twice. The room whilst clean and spacious, was looking like it could do with a little refresh, wood work chipped and flooring in bathroom cracked. The stair case leading up to the rooms clearly needs a little tlc, does nt matter how lightly you tread, its noisy. Also i would ve preferred slightly firmer pillows, just what im used to i guess, that said i slept on about 5 the second night and was alot more comfy.

Service was good and food good. You could tell that the location had tried to cut back on breakfast offering but I think they have succeeded without impacting satisfaction

All staff were good but if I'm honest the reception staff I met..two different ladies each day were not to the standard I think this location would expect. Just looked bored and fed up. Not asked if I'd had an enjoyable stay either when checking out; no friendly welcome on arrival. No rudeness, but guests need a bit more than I experienced

Everything, Staff friendly, helpful, and pleasant, hotel management should be proud of their staff, from the breakfast staff, restaurant and bar staff, and housekeeping staff. Good plentiful terraces areas accommodated for both smoking and non-smoking. The Dining Terrace areas have heaters ,and the hotel supplies blankets ( ask the bar staff). Terrace areas overlook the sea, pleasant evenings watching the world go by. Food, good quality, and selection. Breakfast, lunch, and evening meal. Right next to the sandy beach, good evening walks, weather permitting.

Nothing, a Gem of a Hotel and will definitely stay again

The complimentary water and toiletries were a good addition bed mattress comfy location is great parking good beautiful building and outside area

The sloped ceiling made the 'small 'room seem even smaller, the pillows were too soft staff supplied extra pillows , the bedroom window was locked Was very disappointed our room wasn't ready until 3.10/3.15. We were asked to wait in the lounge...a complimentary tea/coffee would have been appreciated

Staff couldn't do enough for you, nothing was too much trouble and they were very friendly. We were house hunting and their advice really saved us and helped us pick our new home in the town. Decor and facilities were exceptionally clean and well maintained especially given this trip was in early January so out of season. Food and drinks in the Restaurant was exceptional and very good value for money. Views from heated covered terrace were brilliant and very relaxing.We had a cream tea during the stay .which was incredible although we couldn't move after finishing it !

On a personal note our room was very hot even after turning down radiators but that's due to me preferring cold so not an issue of hotel Steps from beach are also not for faint hearted or those of us needing knee operations but felt real achievment getting to top .

Great position. Staff excellent. Rooms clean and good service

Stayed in the standard double. This is basic. Quite a small room. Door quite close to bed. Window only allowed to open a couple of inches. Terrible view from window anyway. I know all hotels have increased costs as expected. I thought £140.00 per night B&B was a bit pricey for this room. We have stayed in many others this year that have been far superior for less money. We have stopped here a number of times but disappointed on this occasion with the room and cost.

The hotel was relatively quiet. Breakfast was plentiful and was served efficiently. The hotel was at it busiest at evening meal times. Through out it was clean and tidy. Our allocated room was spacious, with plenty of storage space with a large bed. Good modern shower facility.

We had paid extra for a room with a balcony and sea view. Although the sea and part of the beach could be seen in the distance. The view was however disappointing, due to hotel structure and also a plentiful view of local buildings and house rooftops.

.Most of the staff very friendly and helpful..the location was perfect with wonderful views..I was pleasantly surprised by how lovely the deco was in the main areas of the hotel..with just a short walk down the steps to the beach..perfect

The rooms extremely hot even with a fan..the outside terrace..which is not table service but QR code..for people unfamiliar to using the QR app and the internet not having great signal it became an issue..we just wanted to buy a couple of drinks at the bar but was told by a very surly young man that we couldn't..when I asked him to help he couldn't it made me uncomfortable..even tho in the end a friendly waitress got our drinks..it made me feel that I was old and outdated not really wanting to go back to the terrace again..I think if we want to purchase from the bar then we can..after all I had paid a lot of money for my break..apart from that one experience there were no other problems

Our room was a good size, the linen and towels were good quality and we found everything very clean. Our breakfast the following was fine and considering included with the room charge overall good value. I was pleased to find a full size non slip bath mat, needed as the shower was over the bath. Our room temperature was OK, it was good that the room had an standing electric fan, that's a thoughtful touch. There was plenty of hanging and drawer space. I also liked that the hotel provides a bottle of sparkling and a bottle of still water, both in glass containers, so excellent for the environment.

A taller heated towel rail would be better as the one in our bathroom wasn't tall enough to place both bath sheets to dry. It's a suggestion as if you're staying more than one night you'd be able to reuse your towels. Re the tea & coffee tray I think it's best placed on the dressing table ready to use.
