Large comfortable house with artefacts, mostly cat-related, from around the world. Several live cats too. Good breakfast - grapefruit, cereal, yoghurt, fruit, cooked breakfast. Wifi worked. Quiet location but close to the local town, which has pubs, a cafe, a shop, and a Dalek! Excellent for walks and industrial archaeology (lead mining).

Not a dislike, but you need to be cat-tolerant. My late father, who had an allergy to cats, would have been quite ill here. Otherwise cats are no problem, and can easily be kept out of your room.

The breakfast was well cooked although there was not much choice, However, we did not ask for any alternatives. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The garden and surrounding countryside were rural lovely. The owner, her helper and the owner's several cats were all delightful. Although the location was more out of the way than we were led to expect, we enjoyed our few days near the village of Allendale.

Although I like the old fashioned sheets and blankets, they were rather difficult to loosen. The location was more out of the way and further from Hexham than we expected, so it took a while to find.

Charming house full of ceramic souvenirs of Eileen’s travels. Eileen is a welcoming and attentive host, who provided an excellent cooked breakfast but also included good bread, strong coffee and fruit…..and cereals or porridge. The cats are an added bonus and no trouble. There are lovely gardens to sit out in if the weather allows. Allendale is a 20 minute walk away by road, or 35 mins through the woods along the river. We recommend the Golden Lion for excellent pub grub - great fish and chips but they finish serving quite early. Hadrian’s Wall is an easy drive away.

Cosy shower if you are a big chap but manageable and a good jet.

Spacious room with armchair and small sofa with view over garden and fields. There is also use of a separate lounge. We were welcome to explore the garden and use outside chairs. Owner was very pleasant and relaxed. Very good beakfast.

Because of my 'work' commitments elsewhere, it was necessary to leave the premises in early morning, 05.30, each day. Consequently, I did not partake of breakfast on any of the days, so cannot comment thereon.

Super breakfast. Loved it. A chance to admire the ceramics, especially the blue-footed booby teapot and jug. Location in pleasant countryside is only 15mins away from village of Allendale. Eileen an attentive host who knows her region. Don't forget the cats. They are attentive too, never far away.
