Sue, the host, was marvelous. Learning that my partner had developed a dodgy stomach, she picked mint and lemon balm from the garden every day to make a soothing tea. I don't think Sue will mind if I say the breakfasts are a little quirky - but in a good way. Being of a certain age, (as are we) a full English is not now offered, but she will supply anything on a do it yourself basis, which suited us just fine. The riverside garden is just magic; we came back early a couple of times just to sit and listen to the water and birds with a glass of wine. Excellent location. Just a mile or two from Cowbridge with its pubs and restaurants, and easy jaunts to Hadrians Wall, and Roman museums.

Dilston Mill is beautifully located with large gardens bordering a stream. We stayed in the ground floor studio which comprised an entrance hall, very spacious room with king size bed, seating area and facilities to prepare small meals including a fridge and microwave. There is also a large bright bathroom with a big walk-in shower. Our host Susan did everything possible to make our stay comfortable. Nothing seemed too much trouble. She was super friendly and gave us lots of good advice about local walks, pubs etc. Susan does not supply a cooked breakfast which we knew in advance. Instead, she gave us great breakfast choices and left everything in the room for us. This included croissants, choices of breads, continental cheese and ham selection, fresh fruit, yogurt and a choice of cereals. We loved the fact that this gave us the freedom to have breakfast in our own time and space. We especially liked the friendly welcome and the fact that we were allowed to walk and, weather permitting sit in the beautiful garden right by the stream. We could not have wished for a better place to spend a few peaceful days.

Nothing, it was all perfect.

We had a lovely stay at this converted mill B&B. Our host Susan was very friendly, helpful & interesting as well. The property was quiet, just the sound of the water from the small but swift river that runs alongside the property. We ate plums straight from the trees & had a lovely continental breakfast. It was a very enjoyable stay in the suite that includes a kitchenette & long window seat for relaxing indoors.

This is a very pleasant place to stay, a 'suite' of three rooms, with a very comfortable bed, excellent bathroom and sitting/breakfast room. The host is very welcoming and there is a good variety for breakfast. There is no TV and the wifi is average, but this is not a problem for us. It is in a beautiful place and easy to find, with good access ple of easy chairs night have been welcome. Hadrian's Wall and good restaurants in Corbridge.

A couple of easy chairs would have been welcome.

Susan made sure we were comfortable and enjoyed our stay. It helped to have someone close by willing to share information and recommendations on the local area. The mill is in a stunning location and surrounded by oh so beautiful scenery. Warm beds, great textiles on the walls made for a general cosy atmosphere.

Excellent location but as the mill was a mile or so from Corbridge we had the usual discussion about who would drink with their meal (at The Angel) and who would drive. We decided to walk to the town and back which in the dark which on a gusty night was not ideal as we needed to walk beside a busy road. However during the day the walk via a country track was more pleasant and of course scenic. In short, for us perhaps Dilston Mill was a little far out (stunning views on drawing the curtains though).

The property has a beautiful garden we were able to spend as much time in as we wanted. Great for al fresco meals and relaxing. We enjoyed the circular walk into Corbridge and trips out to nearby countryside.

We would have preferred breakfast cooked for us rather than using the toaster and microwave ourselves. The location is very beautiful but not very close to any pubs or restaurants so it wasn't convenient to walk to dinner destinations.

A lovely self contained studio in a beautiful setting by the river. Our host was very welcoming and made sure we were comfortable and fully stocked with a tasty breakfast each day and treats for the kids and our dog. We slept well to the sound of the river and woke up each day to the peacefulness of this setting.

We arrived on one of the hottest days of the year but the Mill was cool enough for a good night's sleep. The location next to a babbling brook was wonderful and our only regret was that we didn't have time to sit out and enjoy our coffee in the beautiful garden... next time! We would definitely love to stay here again and recommend it highly. The Mill has been beautifully decorated and furnished. Susan our host was great fun. She made sure that our stay was as comfortable as possible. Breakfast was a highlight and the smoked salmon so tasty that all three of us had it everyday! There was a wide choice of breads, teas, and coffees. Fruit and shortbread were there for us on arrival and then every evening there was some treat such as a small chocolate bar to welcome us back. We were very sad to leave this idyll and would agree that Susan is a super host.

This is a tough one indeed and I cannot think of anything which would improve the place. Despite our accommodation having it's own kitchenette, Susan took away our washing up each day which made for a wonderful restful holiday.

The setting is to die for. Beautiful garden overlooking Devil's water. It's about a 45 minute walk along the river into Corbridge. Susan provided a self-serve continental breakfast each morning and one cooked breakfast during our stay. Susan is an enthusiastic hostess.

The suite has a small double bedroom, a good sized bathroom with shower and a kitchenette with a small dining table and a bench seat. This was fine as the weather was great, so a lot of our spare time was spent in the garden. On wet days, some may feel that the area to relax in was limited.

The location and the rich history of the surrounding areas. It was a nice peaceful environment (no tv and did not miss that) with beautiful views. The owner was really attentive throughout our stay and really went the extra mile regards homemade biscuits and jams etc. The shower and Bathroom are just what you need after a long day to relax in.

nothing 😊 We will definitely be back.
