Excellent rooms, perfect location and the perfect host. I got food poisoning from dinner and had a terrible nights sleep because of it. The owner, Brian, let me stay until way after the normal check out time the next morning to give me some time to rest and recover before getting the train. Not sure what I'd have done if I wasn't able to. So a massive thank you to Brian! I can't personally comment on the breakfast but my friends all really enjoyed it. 10/10 would recommend to everyone

The location is quiet and picturesque, with two food stores nearby. Breakfast was included, including yoghurt, fresh fruit etc., and there is also a kitchen exclusively for guests' use. The room was a good size and clean and the bathroom excellent. The owner was very helpful, and in the breakfast room is useful reading matter about the area. It is also close to bus and rail links. In all, highly recommended.

Good location, close to restaurants and bars. It was also within walking distance of the river and close to some pretty views of the bridge. A washer/dryer was available for guests' use. There were groceries in the refrigerator for the guests' use. You could use the kitchen. Very convenient. A nice sitting area, too.

Nothing stands out that we didn't like. It was a very nice place.

I stayed at the Reading Room one night when walking the Hadrian's Wall path and it was just so lovely! The room was very comfortable and clean and I could help myself to a nourishing breakfast in the morning. It just felt really homely and I had the best sleep after a long day walking! Brian, the owner was just fantastic and welcoming. He went out of his way to drive and pick me up at Once Brewed where I had finished my walk since it could be difficult to get a taxi! He also drove me back the my starting point in the morning!! It's not often one is met with such kindness and hospitality as Brian provided :) Would definitely come and stay again in the future! Thank you!!

Owners were both very friendly, helpful and keen to make sure that our stay was enjoyable and that any needs were met. The price was exceptionally good value and we were surprised at the quality of the accommodation when we arrived considering the price we paid. When booking breakfast was not included, but the hosts actually provide a very reasonable "help yourself" non cooked breakfast facility, a case of under promising and over delivering. Indeed after a long trip staying in hotels providing full cooked breakfasts, that are difficult to refuse, it was a real pleasure to get back to a simple lower calorie start to the day.

Nothing we were very pleased all round

Large, comfotable light room with a river view in a quiet location at the heart of a lovely picturesque village with excellent pubs. Well eqipped kitchen and very good self service breakfast

Nothing really. Bed mattress was abit soft for my personal liking, but that is a very minor nítrico about an othetwise excellent and spotlessly clean roomand bathroom

Our second stay at this gem. I would heartily recommend the Reading Rooms to anyone exploring the Tyne valley or Hadrian's Wall due to its ideal location. Haydon Bridge as at least 3 pubs along with takeaways and a Co-op. The premises have large en-suite rooms. What makes this place a gem is the free use of the dining room and kitchen with its huge selection of "help yourself" breakfast items along with a plethora of guide books and maps for the free use of the guests. Brian is a wonderful host and always willing to give advice or just have a chat. Overall you feel at home rather than in a standard B&B. We are already planning a return.

I honestly cannot think of anything to fault this place! I rate it 10 out of 10

The attention to detail in every aspect is outstanding. The breakfast arrangements are fantastic with plenty of options. And the owner is such a kind and helpful person. He even picked up some injured friends who were walking in the rain. 10 out of 10!

Nothing. It exceeded our expectations in every way!

Was greeted by the owner, shown around and made to feel welcome. Large comfortable room although the decor looked a little tired and there was some damp in one corner. It was lovely being able to use the kitchen. Plenty of choice for breakfast and fresh fruit.

Nothing - would happily stay again.
