Holiday Inn High Wycombe M40, Jct.4, an IHG Hotel

hotel is in a great location just off the motorway. we arrived at the hotel with a family of 4 and checked into a family room with a double bed and small sofa bed. it was apparent that our two kids wouldn’t be able to share the sofa bed comfortably - a quick call to reception and in less than 5 minutes we had two staff members deliver another bed and set it all up for us. excellent service. the room looks very new, as does most of the hotel. great sized room and facilities within. the breakfast options were vast and cooked breakfast was fresh and of good quality - no cheap sausages / bacon!

Reception staff were very nice, especially Amy (if I remember her name correctly).

Main entrance was difficult to locate on driving into compound. Building works going on were unattractive, but that of course is only temporary, so can be tolerated. They would not let me cradit this stay for IHG Member club points because I booked through booking.com. They should have credited it exceptionally but told me to book directly next time. Restaurant was expensive, definitely over-priced for what was offered; £18.50 for fish & chips is too much.

The room was clean and comfortable and there was a choice to have linen serviced or not, so I liked the environmental approach. Staff were friendly but not particularly attentive.

I was there for 2 nights. On day 2 I found out there was an offer on at the bar (by 2 large glasses of wine and get the rest of the bottle) On day 1 we bought 4 large glasses but were not offered the rest of the bottle either time. I asked at reception when I returned to the hotel on day 2 but the bar was closed and I was told there was nothing they could do. I asked to get a drink and take it to my room but was told the bar was closed and there was no room service. The menu in my room stated snacks and drinks were available 24/7 which was why we returned to the hotel directly rather than getting food elsewhere before returning.

The staff were very helpful, we asked for an extra pillow in the room so the children didn't have to share one. The room was clean and spacious and despite being next to a motorway, it was quiet.

There was a wide variety of breakfasts which was really helpful for the younger travelers. The adults opted for the cooked breakfast, unfortunately, the bacon was salty, the sausages didn't have flavor and the scrambled eggs were quite watery. Next time we would probably opt for a different alternative.

I had never stayed in a Holiday Inn before but found it very much like a slightly up-market Travelodge. The room was clean and airy with good air conditioning. Bed was fairly comfortable but not as good as Premier Inn beds. Shower was over bath but was very powerful and pleasant. Communal areas were well decorated and pleasant. Nice small bar area to sit in, in the evenings. Breakfast was very good with a good deal of choice. I didn’t have an evening meal but there seemed to be a fair selection on the menu. The hotel is located immediately off the Handy Cross roundabout above the M40 motorway so is very handily placed. There was no problem with noise from the motorway. There was a large cinema complex a ‘Five Guys’ restaurant and a ‘Next’ (including ‘Costa’) immediately next door to the hotel. Staff wise I only spoke with the young lady on reception and a lady organising the breakfasts in the morning. They were both very pleasant and helpful. The hotel has its own large, free car-park immediately outside reception. No problem parking, loads of space. All in all a pleasant stay.

The reception area is welcoming, as are the staff. The room was clean & and the beds were comfy. There is plenty of room near reception to sit and have a coffee or a drink from the bar. This area is newly furbished. Breakfast was good, & plenty of tea & coffee in our room. Good choice of lighting in our room with Air con and opening window. Staff are very professional and helpful. Close to M40 but you wouldn't know it

Really lovely and clean place to stay. The room was exceptional. Nice size very pleasant. I would recommend.

The room I had was on the ground floor and a little noisy with people coming and going on and off throughout the night (even at 03:30 in the morning) As all the rooms have self closing fire doors they make a loud bang when closing (personally I would hold them to close quietly if coming in late)! I did feel the staff on arrival could of been a little more friendly (I did feel I was an inconvenience to the person that checked me in). The person that checked me out was nicer. This would not put me off staying again I would request a room on a different floor as I feel this might be quieter.

Lovely friendly and efficient staff. The restaurant manager was exceptional and so kind to the older folks who found carrying stuff to and from the buffet a bit difficult. Breakfast buffet was very good. Dinner menu good but could offer wider range. After 3 good dinners, there was nothing more I wanted from the menu. Although you pay for parking, there was no hassle in finding a space.

It would be nice if the lobby computer was functional! Perhaps follow the US custom of providing leaflets/menus from some local food delivery restaurants to hotel and widen choice of eating options

The room was very clean and looked to be recently updated. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, the breakfast was good.

My only complaint was that when I got back to my room quite late for the second night, it had not been tidied, bed made etc. When I left the next day I was in too much of a hurry to bother mentioning it. I don't think this would be normal and I was quite surprised.... but I managed OK and everything else was very good.

I would strongly recommend this hotel and the chain. Our waiters and receptionists were exceptionally polite and kind. (We had a gluten-free evening meal and it was delicious.) We always enjoyed our breakfast and the service.Very friendly and competent staff! (I really appreciated the gluten-free products!) The lounge was spacious and comfortable. Our bed was very comfortable. Sadly, the motorway was noisy!!! I liked staying in the High Wycombe Holiday Inn and will try to use the hotel again even though it is not in the city centre. Luckily, there is a good bus connection. I would have liked to have had more brochures and leaflets on the local area and interesting places to see - like High Wycombe, Oxford, Hughendon Park, West Wycombe, Marlow and Henley, etc. Perhaps I just couldn't find them.

The noise from the motorway - but the windows are well insulated. Would be better if you could automatically book a room + breakfast. Breakfast: Sometimes the lovely staff wanted to take away our plates to give us more room and we weren't really finished. This was a minor problem. A little 'bin' on the breakfast table would be very convenient - instead of using another plate.
