Greenlands Hotel

The main building, decor and the grounds were lovely!! The rooms were clean and comfortable. The nice breakfast in the dining room was enhanced by the lovely views of the grounds. In the evening, the waitress at the bar, Grace, coped very well with a difficult situation having to tell all the hungry guests that dinner service would be delayed in contrary to what we had been led to believe at the reception.

We had a problem with our evening meal. We were told we couldn't have dinner in the dining room as there was a function but that we could have dinner in the bar from 7.00pm. However, we we were not allowed to order dinner until after 8.00pm and when it arrived much later the meal was very disappointing and we were just left with our plates and no waiter service. So this really spoilt our experience of the hotel.

I was warned my room would away from The main building which was fine the first night.The room was amazing- recently updated, chic, all mod cons, wonderful bathroom with wall shower. however on the second night there was wedding party staying in the main house and really I wouldn’t have known it as I felt the hotel was very careful where they put their guests But I was woken by some people outside my window talking and then the same people at five discussing ordering a taxi which meant I didn’t get much sleep that second night I didn’t complain or call security as I didn’t feel it was a safety issue.

Beautiful location close to Marlow and Henley, friendly staff, very clean room well equipped with nespresso coffee maker, iron/ironing board, safe deposit box, free WiFi, very comfortable bed, no bath but good shower! Nice buffet breakfast which we were able to have on the terrace outside as the weather was good! We had smashing little waiter I think called Antonio … more than helpful a credit to the establishment 😊

No Air conditioning in the room … that would be a bonus although there were a couple of electric fans which helped but it was a very hot day and we struggled to keep cool whilst getting ready to go out for the evening.

Beautiful riverside location a couple of miles outside Henley (c4k walk through the fields or on a bus route). Parking on site. Modern bedrooms in an adjacent building set round a courtyard. Excellent breakfast. Evening bar open.

Bedroom was small for 2 people, clearly more used to single visitors. We were in a downstairs room with people walking literally outside your window - upstairs room would be better. Room was stiflingly hot (even with plug in air con). Prices were clearly increased for Henley Regatta.

Good location, 10 mins taxi to Henley centre for the regatta. Lovely location. Beware though no phone reception but very good WiFi signal. We stayed on the separate block just a minute walk from the main hotel. Very good accommodation, spacious and clean.

The room was very nice,quiet, comfortable and clean. Nice comfy bed with quality bedding, good shower and quality towels,coffee machine in the room a real bonus! And biscuits! All of the staff we met were very friendly, particularly at breakfast. Very pleased with the quality and appearance of the breakfast. The buffet was ample and constantly replenished.Used plates were cleared from our table promptly. Absolutely beautiful location right by the river, second to none😊

We stayed during the hot weather and due to no air conditioning in the room we were provided with a fan. I know the hotel were doing their best to keep the rooms cool but I think maybe a bigger more effective fan than the one provided would have helped! We had a drink in the bar prior to our evening out, we found it to be a bit soulless and corporate. Could have done with music and a bit of personality in there!

Interesting location at the Henley Business school -- the grounds were lovely, and the view of the Thames was quite nice. It was quiet and the options available the included breakfast buffet were solid. I had a couple pints at the bar the night I arrived as well as lunch the day I left and in both cases the service and quality was nice.

Finding the place to check-in, even after reading the 'how to get here' section of their website, was a bit of a struggle. It would have been far easier had I arrived during daylight. This is a 'hotel' that's normally for guests of the business school, so be aware that there is not the level of overnight amenities or whatnot that you might be hoping for. Also, no air conditioning (which I knew going in), but it was quite hot this weekend, so I definitely noticed the lack. :) Finally, this weekend there was a big boat show in nearby Henley-on-Thames, and so getting a taxi was quite a struggle. Uber isn't even really an option in this part of the countryside.

Staff were professional, respectful, helpful, sorted minor problems and were accommodating. The facilities were very good and the venue and setting excellent. Fresh water available to collect in bottles was a nice touch. I felt comfortable in the reception and at breakfast when I wanted to eat slowly and have my tea on the terrace and this is much appreciated.

Not a big problem and I am not sure what could be done, but I did find it a little difficult to open main doors and take luggage through doors to allocated room at the same time as carrying a stick and the key card. I understand the importance of security; and leaving there was a ‘disabled button’ to press to open two doors but a little difficult getting through both with luggage and bag and keys for the car etc. and trying to keep one door open with the luggage wasn’t successful it pushed my luggage out the way and closed.

Greenland's Hotel once owned by the founder of WH Smith is a fabulous hotel, set in lovely grounds on the edge of the river Thames. It's a business school so isn't your typical hotel set up, the accommodation is away from the dinning area (2min walk) but isn't a problem. The Hotel is clean, beds firm but comfortable, food is amazing and overall price is spot on. Breakfast is buffet style and the dinner is a set menu and even though we didn't book they fitted us in and is well worth it. Henley is a 10 min drive away and has everything you'd need. There is a BP pulse charge point for 2 EVs, Vodafone's coverage wasn't great so I had to call to get the charger to work. Staff were lovely and friendly and made us feel so welcome.

You need a car to stay here but the price reflects the location. Lighting in the room could be better for putting make on. Only one key card per room.

Location location wow it was beautiful the building that houses the business school and reception and where have breakfast is a grade 11 listed building in 30 acres it’s magnificent- nice molten brown toiletries high thread count bedding -nepresso - large room very peaceful a wonderful experience- we went for the regatta so imagine our delight to watch the rowers practice on the river which this property leads down to. This isn’t a traditional hotel it’s accommodation in the grounds of the business school but I’ve traveled extensively and this was better for it - because it was so peaceful other guests were business people or these there for the regatta. We had breakfast outside big shout out to the staff who cannot do enough for you - from start to finish excellent / check the views / its even better than it looks - we will definitely book again.
