The inn has a wonderful relaxed atmosphere. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. Great care had obvioulsy been taken with the decor. We thoroughly enjoyed eating outside in the garden. Our lunch was delicious - and we're real foodies and difficult to please! Breakfast was terrific with numerous options available. We were visiting friends and only staying for one night, but we would have very happily stayed here for several days. We'll most definitely be back.

We would have preferred feather pillows to the foam ones, or at least foam pillows which are softer and a bit more pliant. These were quite hard.

The staff were very welcoming and accommodating. The room was so comfortable and we felt very rested when we left. We had an excellent dinner which was well presented. The full English breakfast set us up for the next day. The surrounding areas are beautiful and well worth exploring. We plan to return in the not too distant future to do some of the walks. We would like to mention Poppy who went out of her way to ensure everything was okay. Excellent customer service. We were also asked if we enjoyed our stay when we checked out. Well done to all the staff.

There wasn’t anything we didn’t like!

Dinner was good and the menu was different and a pleasure to choose from, not showing what has become a standard fayre. I was travelling with a pet and there were ample footpaths for a walk. She was allowed into the public areas. I had to miss breakfast, so cannot comment. The ground floor room was of ample size and the second door helped block the noise from comings and goings from the pub entrance. The bathroom, more a wet room was huge for disabled access.. Not sure how they might maneuver in the bedroom! Liked the added macaroons in a jar, instead of standard biscuits. Large public carpark next door, which was free to residence, once booked in.

Unfortunately the room was next to the ladies toilets, you could hear activity in the evening. There was also a pungent smell in the bathroom, which was quite overpowering. (The proprietor was informed the following morning, probably the shower drain) The disabled bathroom sink was of course very low with a shelf above making it difficult to use, Maybe moving the shelf to a different position would help. Breakfast was included, but did not start until 8am, to late for me, so would have liked to have been offered an alternative to take away.

Great food, attentive staff and lovely room. Bed was so comfy it was a dream, location was quiet and rural, just what we wanted.

Check in confusion, payment wanted upfront was a bit odd, normally payment is taken after (particularly when they had my card details via booking.com and wanted full payment there and then. Then there was some confusion as to whether we had pre-paid or not- I ended up paying at the hotel the full amount upfront via my card directly, but staff advised that If I am charged again via booking.com, I can call them for a full refund.... so waiting to see what happens.

Everything was perfect at the properly. Very accommodating staff, delicious food, lovely locals and a very cute resident dog. Everyone was great facilitating a large group of us.

I’d be careful when booking via booking.com next time because one of our cottages was double booked. Luckily, most of the property was reserved by friends and family for our wedding so we managed to move some people about but could have been a very disappointing weekend for someone else. Can’t fault the staff and owners of the Stag & Huntsman as there was nothing they could have done with someone else booked in directly, and they helped us as much as possible anyway.

Everything excellent and peaceful in a great location.exellent service from staff.

Very cramped area for cereal tea and coffee serving for breakfast and no offer of toast and jam.this was all on a small area of the bar .would have liked to see it in a bigger area .ie on its own table .and possibly a toaster and bread .this is not a complaint .just an observation.and did not distract from a first class stay in this venue.and would highly recommend to anybody wishing to stay in this area.i will certainly come back again

The location is absolutely beautiful. The pub staff were so friendly and welcoming - we paid to have breakfast there one morning and it was fabulous. The cottage is right on the Chiltern Way path to start any number of walks. The little shop in the village also is a post office and cafe. We didn't try the cakes but they looked excellent and the place was popular. In our cottage we had lots of materials to make a fire, and the usual implements in the kitchen. There was plenty of hot water and blankets on the beds.

I would have liked a couple of tea bags in the pot in the kitchen. I understand it's very clearly a self-catering cottage, but that would have been a nice welcome. The pros far outweigh that minor personal preference, though.

The food, beer and service were amazing. Beautiful Post Office selling cakes, light bites, coffees, teas and smoothies. Amazing walk to Henley (flat) and a woodland (slight hills) to Marlow. Tranquil church with fields of horses, sheep and cows. We saw deer and rabbits whilst walking (flat) to Turville and Skermett. We recognised houses and landmarks from the Vicar of Dibley, Miss Marple and Midsummer Murders.

Only that we couldn’t stay longer.

The quality of the food ,at both dinner and breakfast, was excellent Perfectly proportioned , fresh quality ingredients were obviously used and prepared and presented simply and beautifully (excellent gastro pub quality ) I was extremely happy as was my partner ! The room was sweet and country style clean and very comfortable. The photos do not do it justice as it feels fairly new, nice white linen .

Perhaps toiletries could be less dispenser based .
