Perfect stop off on the way back from Hampshire to Manchester - hotel is situated near the high street, not far from the Roald Dahl museum. Quiet location and little traffic so its nice to wander down the high street where there is a choice of pubs and restaurants. You can walk the many trails around the village and beyond. Hotel does a very nice self-service breakfast. Very comfortable double bed.

Rooms are small by most modern standards but adequate and as usual only 1 bath towel and 1 medium towel provided - do hotels think couples are going to share bath towels ? Would prefer these to be provided on arrival rather than having to ask every time. Didn't realise the hotel had a bistro so it would help if menus were more visible, we did however enjoy a nice curry in the village restaurant.

The staff are professional, polite and friendly. Yes its got (very) small rooms and small beds but sooo much nicer than stayng in a premier inn/travelodge (being similar costs).

Shower room was cramped and old but worked. Breakfast very good but warm, not hot.

Staff very friendly and helpful I enjoyed the breakfast The location was good, near a main road into the part of London I needed to visit The room had been repurposed so furniture didn't match the original layout and light switches being away from bed etc once I'd moved things around it worked very well It was warm, clean and comfortable Loved the windows and architecture of the Abbey Hotel building itself

Hard to find in the dark so more road signs would have been helpful It wasn't clear to me on the website that the Coach House could use the bar and get food in the Abbey otherwise I would have bought food there

The staff were outstanding- every single one was friendly, helpful and courteous. The facilities were a little dated but spotlessly clean, fresh linen in the bedroom and bathroom. Good ventilation in the rooms and corridors, which were also very clean. Breakfast was delicious and served with a smile. The grounds were absolutely stunning. Well suited for Weddings, Conferences or a retreat.

I didn't like leaving, it was so peaceful and relaxing, I would have enjoyed a couple more nights.

it was and absolutely beautiful location, the grounds are kept beautifully and the the hotel it’s self is lovely. the staff are very friendly and helpful and it was spotless. we loved walking around the grounds and came across a charity garden they have that help disabled volunteers to grow plants and vegetables that they use in their kitchen! we spoke to some of the volunteers and the staff running the foundation and it really touched our hearts.

The girl who served in the breakfast room was outstanding in her manner, helpfulness and attention to detail. Breakfast well cooked and sufficient in quantity.

The screen that was put across was a shock! We had hardly had time to get our bearings and might have wanted to return to the cereals section. Maybe a warning would be helpful? We arrived for breakfast at 8.30 and there was very little there. The option of soya milk or similar and maybe some dried fruit and seeds to have with the oats OR a muesli option would be appreciated.

It is a beautiful venue , staff are friendly and happy to assist always . Food here is great , but many places to go within walking distance. The Coach house lets it down , it has been decorated downstairs, but just to freshen it up. Noise between rooms is not great.

....Beautiful location and very polite and attentive staff Hotel grounds are stunning Breakfast was very good made with good quality ingredients Large room with double bed and work station Along with wardrobe space. Iron hair dryer and tea and coffee making facilities Inc. Just a small TV in the room but not sure if you really need it to be any bigger... personally okay for us.. The surroundings....grounds were very nice. The staff were excellent - helpful and friendly. The room was ok for the price. Breakfast and dinner was excellent - a good variety and excellent service from the staff.

The pillows were not so good - so flat it was like sleeping without one. The other pillow was a little better. The room was also very hot at night (even with the windows open and couldn't tell if the heating was on or not) and cold in the morning. Having said that, this wouldn't put me off another visit though.

From the moment we walked in, the front of house team made us feel so welcome. Disabled parking was available. The building and grounds were beautiful and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We needed another set of towels and another pillow, but the team jumped right on it and they were sent up just minutes later. Great service!

Knowing that the booking was for two people and yet there was just one set of towels. A small detail that shouldn’t have been overlooked, but nevertheless was rectified promptly. Also some details in the room regarding contacting reception if you need them. Details on when the bar and restaurant are open, just a small information pack would have been helpful. Nothing however that prevent us from coming back.
