I liked the location as it was quite peaceful. The staff were very good and our room was clean and comfortable. Its an old building and has a character. The outside area has a tipi that guests can eat in. There are also plenty of tables to sit at if just having a drink. The breakfast was particularly good as I love a full English.A lovely stay.

The only couple of things that I mention are. The food was a bit pricey so we dined elsewhere. No criticism of the food as we saw some of the food people were having and it looked great. The building is old and the floorboards make noise when walking in your room. Many rooms have that problem.

Liked that it was out of town but convenient stop-over between a visit to Cliveden & going on to visit friends near Aylesbury the following day. Problem with power in bedroom on arrival but served tea in room while waiting for it to be resolved. Made to feel welcome. Bedroom space small but very comfortable and clean. Dinner in restaurant off the main bar-room was excellent. Good flavours & beautifully presented. Not the typical pub fayre you might expect!

Initially concerned about room being on corner by busy road junction. Concerned that traffic noise might disturb sleep. However, v. little traffic during night & slept well (window closed 'tho). Would have preferred to help myself to "light" breakfast of juice, fruit, yoghurt & cereal and be asked whether I wanted croissants, bread or toast. Noticed a few people wasting croissants and I was given a big bowl of too-sweet oat granola when I would opt for a sprinkle of mixed seed.

Once Wake had finished it settled down and certainly met my expectatations. This is a popular pub for food so has a good vibe with people coming and going. Pub was short staffed one night but staff were very professional and helpful whilst under pressure. Rooms were of very high standard and quite spacious . I was in Room One.

Got off to a slow start as a wake was being held (which is ok) So pub was packed and staff run off their feet. So no place to have a drink and check in was very cursery. As the wake finished things settled down The room I was in was noisy but I was aware of that..it is a wonderful old building

Breakfast was absolutely divine. Room was very nice with exposed wooden beams, and a comfortable bed. Was a great location within walking distance to Greater Missenden village. The Hotel itself had great character.

The furniture in the room seemed out of place for the lovely old exposed beams. Furniture was 1940's style? glass/crystal look which just seemed really out of place. There was noise from the bar below at night time but it was quiet by 11pm so wasn't a major distraction.

Having eaten breakfast and dinner on 2 days, as well as a buffet served for a function in the tepee, I was blown away by the quality of the food. Fresh, top-quality produce (which we saw delivered daily) and a really talented team in the kitchen resulted in some of the best food I've had for some time. Creative not but overly fussy menu which changes regularly All the staff were friendly and efficient and nothing was too much trouble. Shame we are a flight away !

Floor boards were creaky in the bedroom but its an old property!

Quite a well appointed room. Dinner in the tepee in the garden (a lovely setting on a beautiful evening) was quite pricey but well worth it, as it was delicious. Unfortunately our order somehow got lost, and although we were quite relaxed about it and not too bothered about the delay, the hotel decided to deduct the cost of our desserts from our bill which was a nice bit of compensation, and appreciated. Breakfast was also very good. Staff were very pleasant, especially young Sophie who we had a long chat with; we wish her well with her A levels and future medical studies.

The only downside was that on a very warm and humid day, our room was very hot by the time we arrived late in the afternoon (but then you can’t expect a former 15th century inn to have air conditioning!). Not the fault of the Nags Head but perhaps the windows could have been left open during the day. We slept with them open and because it’s on the main road, it was a bit noisy, although we managed to sleep through it!

Beautiful old country inn. So stairs, no lift and some low ceilings! Best scrambled egg I've ever had for breakfast. Dinner menu a little disappointing for this fussy vegetarian who doesn't like Goats Cheese and fennel. More choices would help that as I don't doubt this chef would make it memorable. Quite pricey but things seem to be going that way right now. Excellent selection of ales and other drinks. Friendly, helpful staff.

Dinner menu for vegetarians who don't like fennel and goats cheese. Only 1 main choice and 2 starters.

The room was very nice and probably one of the most comfortable beds ive ever slept on,get room 1. Quiet ish location and nice garden areas. Food was excellent, evening and breakfast with charming staff. Very pleasant time.

Its a 15th century pub so expect some creaks and quirkiness in the interior. Not all rooms have secondary glazing so ask when booking because you are on a fairly busy country road. Not really much to add.

This is a really comfortable and friendly place. The staff made us feel so comfortable from the very beginning. The decor was beautiful and we loved the 15th century doorways. Beautiful food too - we had dinner and breakfast here. Good location, with easy access into town.

The only thing was being woken at 4am by a lorry delivering something in the car park outside our room window.

Lovely old pub with a big garden and plenty of outdoor seating. Comfortable bed, clean room and bathroom. Good shower. Breakfast was excellent. The staff were great, very friendly and accommodating. We would stay again.

Sadly the kitchen is closed at the moment on Mondays and Tuesdays. However we ate at the Cross Keys in Great Missenden and weren’t disappointed. If you aren’t good with stairs you should perhaps speak with the pub before you book to discuss any issues. There can be quite a few stairs to negotiate.
