Historic building in glorious setting. The main building and the outbuildings used for guest accommodation had been sensitively extended and updated. The en-suite bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. The staff were polite, efficient and hard working. The food was excellent and there were plenty of tables and seating inside and in the garden.

Some minor maintenance was required in our bedroom in that the electric razor point did not appear to work and the plug in the bath was difficult to open to drain the bath.

This Red Lion is located in a typically small English town setting that lets you fully relax from whatever day you've had. Plenty of free parking, very quiet rooms, and a lovely garden setting made this an excellent choice for visiting the nearby Duxford aerodrome and Imperial War Air Museum. The included breakfast has several good selections with individual French-press coffee and fresh juice. The staff were all pleasant and helpful, even during what was a very full house for dinner for one of our evenings. The room was on par with premium hotels, but with added touches of dimming lights in the bathroom and room, as well as windows and a skylight that open to provide fresh air and let in the wonderful sounds of the birds each morning.

The only thing I would suggest would be some strategically placed clothes hooks next to the door (for jackets) and hooks in the bathroom (for hand towels).

Food and location were excellent. Meals were small but still very good. Staff were very attentive and friendly but not over intrusive.

The only problem was the way the bills were sorted. We asked that everything we ordered be shared 50/50 between the two rooms but then way they were sorted were so complicated it took us quite a while to work out how much each couple owed. System needs a radical change and a much easier way of doing it.

Food was amazing 👏 hats off to the chef we had the pork belly and was the best I've ever had. The rooms were very cosy and modern with a country twist. The bar was nice and cosy with a log fire going an the bar lady good night Vienna (you know who you are!) Was lovely made us feel very welcome.. we will definitely be staying here again. Thank you.

Only thing I can grumble about is is the breakfast times in the morning finishing at 9:30am

Village location is great, easily accessible. A quiet, cozy pub. Great friendly staff - very welcoming. Nice selection of beers. Rooms are comfortable, well-appointed in a separate annex. Comfy bed, too !

Evening meal selections limited, and ours (fish and chips) was a bit overcooked. They redeemed themselves with breakfast, one of the tastiest full English breakfasts ever !

Comfortable well appointed spacious bedrooms with nice bathroom and immaculately presented. Alex was so kind sorting out fish and chips for us as we had expected to eat somewhere else and it didn't happen and we arrived starving hungry! We loved the bar area and there was a lovely country pub atmosphere. The new bar maid was absolutely lovely and chatted with us and was a real asset to the pub. Alex was friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.

Nothing really!

Great setting, easy access to many routes, though pub was nestled in a quiet and secluded little setting. Thoroughly enjoyed the breakfasts in the new oak framed extension. Could not fault it, looked forward to the mornings!! We also dined at the pub two nights and again, the food was outstanding! This would be a regular go-to place for a meal for us if we lived close by. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The setting for the rooms in the grounds of the garden were well planned out. Separate parking for visiting guests from the main car park, so felt your car was safe and easily accessible. The gardens were well set out and we would have loved to spend some evenings outside-but the weather was not so obliging!

Everything met our expectations. The breakfasts were served between 8.30 and 9.30am- so by the time everyone were coming in together and they were all served, we couldn’t embark on our day till 9.30- we like to set out early, just our preference. Needed better options of lagers.

Pretty village situation, lovely old pub with high quality modern accommodation. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Good bar food and an excellent breakfast.

As it was a Thursday evening there were very few in the pub so not much “atmosphere’ and even with the open fire it did get a bit chilly later in the evening

Hinxton is a very pretty village and worth exploring. The pub was very cosy, with delicious food but small portions. The range of real ale was quite limited, but tasty. I liked the pub and staff.

Our bedroom had a huge cobweb! The outside area of our room was very dark as the outside lights only turned on with movement.
