1. A budget hotel - Convenient to town centre & Cathedral 2. Friendliness / Helpfulness of staff 3. Room & bed was adequate for a 2 night stay 4. Car park reasonable size but why an additional £5 per day?

1. The fact (because of hip and knee problems) that I had requested a lower level room with not too many stairs, to then find I was placed at the highest level. 2. No Lift - A real negative. Difficult to get up narrow stairs with luggage to all floors. 3. No H & S / Disability safety handles in bath shower area - High step up into bath to get a shower. 4. Shower extremely hot and not easy to modify 5. Some black mould on top edge of bath 6. The additional £5 per day to park in the hotel's own car park is extremely mean to say the least

We stayed in Lichfield because staying a night at the hotel together with the cost of return rail tickets for 2 from London was still only half the price of a night in an 'average' London hotel (Premier Inn or Travelodge) and we saw some of the countryside and investigated the attractive City of Lichfield and it's wonderful Cathedral which is highly recommended. :)

The only reasons for the below "excellent" reviews were:- Facilities: the fan provided in the room could have been more forceful in circulating the air and provided with a longer lead to allow more option for positioning Location: it was a shame it is situated up a hill from the centre ... maybe not normally a problem but our stay was in the middle of the recent 30C heatwave!

Our go-to hotel whenever we stay in Lichfield. Can't fault the place for the price. Room comfortable, and looked recently decorated - breakfast is on the button. The location is a couple of minutes walk from the busy town centre. Staff, particularly at breakfast, were excellent.. would still recommend after first staying there in 2014!

Bit naughty that from March 2023 they've slipped in a extra £5 per night for parking, which was not apparent on Booking.com at the time of booking. It was 'free'. Every business appears to be unbundling cost elements now so the headline price looks cheaper... way of the world sadly - but still irritating.

This is a beautiful old building that does show its age but also adds character too. I believe this is an old monastery that is like a combination between a hostel and student halls. I required this accommodation for a course I was attending and so only required a place to study and sleep. The room was basic but comfortable and had free wifi. I opted for shared bathroom facilities but I believe other options are available. It is located within the cathedral grounds and has views of the cathedral out of the front door. It is a beautiful place to take a walk around at sunset when the weather is nice and the area is quiet. The accommodation does have some parking so prevents having to pay for parking if you can get a space. However, additional car parking is just a short walk away and appears to be free overnight between 1700 and 0800hrs. Its location is a very short walk to the city centre where you will find plenty of restaurants to eat at. Breakfast was included and it was more than substantial with hot and continental options available.

Something to be aware of is that owing to its location within the walls of the cathedral grounds, all three access gates are closed and locked from 2300hrs till 0600hrs. The accommodation does offer the use of a key with a deposit, but this may not be an ideal location to stay if you are wanting a night out. Additionally, noise can travel easily through the corridors when doors are opened and closed.

We were staying overnight after attending a wedding party which was from early afternoon until late evening. The temperature was above 30 degrees that day and it was unbearably hot for all the guests and staff. All of the staff were so friendly, welcoming and professional to us even in such hot temperatures. The room was lovely and breakfast the next morning was perfectly cooked and our hot English breakfast was wonderful. We couldn’t fault anything about our time there

Air conditioning would have been great as the heat made all areas uncomfortably hot

From the moment we entered The Cathedral Hotel, we were met with a friendly welcome and the staff could not have been more helpful. The room was spacious, spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was very good value with a good choice and it was cooked fresh and hot. We would certainly return to The Cathedral Hotel in the future and would highly recommend.

Nothing not to like. The hotel could not be faulted and the staff were attentive, friendly and interested in what they were doing. No complaints at all.

The staff were very helpful, despite arriving early we were able to leave luggage in our room before going into the city. Staff provided us with information as to which way to go to the city centre, the sights and eateries and were very pleasant. We left on Sunday before cooked breakfast was available but were able to have a good continental breakfast and plenty of toast. Again staff were very willing to be of help.

It would have been good to have had an armchair in between the adult and the childs bed for sitting in to watch tv rather than having to sit on the bed to do so. A dimmer switch would be nice, the lights in the room were very bright.

I believe that a little bit of a refrushment is needed, it's getting old, I've been there two times in 10 years nevertheless people are great and rooms are large with all you need to have a good stay.

If you need a lift it's not the best place for you, what might be the way to have a great hotel is to have shutters on the windows to keep out light, hot and cold especially on the top floor. Nevertheless it still a really really good place if you want to see Lichfield and surroundins.

The room was a good size, warm and comfortable as was the bed with plenty of storage space. The location was excellent being just a short walk to the cathedral and city centre it was also quiet and peaceful. Staff were helpful, friendly and polite and the bar had a cozy ambiance with a good choice. The hotel car park had easy access with plenty of space, another bonus. We didn't have a breakfast there but the dining room looked welcoming.

Our shower was difficult to adjust to a safe temperature. It was either extremely hot or cold with little room to manoeuvre the settings and therefore there was a risk of scalding. The shower was over a bath however and so we used the bath instead.

hotel was very clean and very friendly and attentive staff, the room was what you would expect from most hotels the only downside was no air conditioning but was a desk fan in the room, the bar although a bit small for the size hotel was also very clean and comfortable, breakfast was well laid out with buffet style breakfast and no waiting for your pot of tea :) there is a small smoking area to the side of the hotel which was also kept very clean and tidy, ample car parking for guests but was a wedding reception on the weekend we attended but still managed to squeeze into a parking space.

nothing to fault really ??
