The Peel Aldergate

Cottage No 1 in Peel Aldergate was perfect for our 2 night stay to Tamworth. The cottage was spotlessly clean, the 2 bedrooms were perfect for 2 adults and 2 children and the beds were really comfortable. After a change to our schedule the day of check in, I rang the hotel to see if they could facilitate out of hours check in and they went above and beyond to accommodate us. Keys were left in a drop box and all of the details were sent to me via WhatsApp, including a walk through video. This is an exceptional service. This location was our base for exploring Cadbury World, Sea Life and Drayton Manor (10 mins drive). Only a 10 minute walk from Tamworth Train station.

There was nothing that we didn't like. This accommodation was excellent.

The room had everything you need and was spotless, as an added bonus it also had air conditioning which you don't usually find and was very welcome . Breakfast was nice and there were quite a few different options and you could also mix & match to make your preferred dish. Staff were spot on and looked after us very well. On our second night we had dinner ( Tapas for us) and it was delicious , decent sized portion an well presented. Car park is a good size. Location is great You are only a very short walk into the town centre and approx 10 mins (ish) to the castle and park . No negatives and highly recommended

We booked this hotel as we were attending "Back2Festival" at Catton Hall - the location was great and it was an added bonus having the bar downstairs, we actually pushed our taxi reservation back by an hour because we were having such a great time in the bar. The staff were incredibly friendly at check-in and whilst we were in the bar. We returned later that evening and went into town for some food, the hotel was perfectly located

The rooms varied massively - our room in the main building upstairs was spacious and clean but slightly dated, whereas our friends had a room which was accessible from the main car-park and was much more modern, with a comfortable sofa and newer furnishings. Despite this we couldn't fault the hotel as it was great value and perfectly located for our stay

The room was clean, very comfortable and spacious, the en-suite very nice, and the breakfast was exceptionally good. We appreciated having on-site parking facilities, and the staff were all very pleasant and helpful.

Just a couple of things for the management. The steel staircase going up to the first floor units are quite steep, so it would have been hlepful if that could be pointed out at the booking stage, not left for discovery on arrival. My wife and I are still quite agile, but for people with less mobility it would be an issue. Secondly, the double bed seemed to be quite narrow, and as there was plenty of room for a king size bed, that level of comfort would have enable us to give a full five-star rating.

When my partner and i checked in the staff on reception noticed i was on crutches and in a support caste on my leg. Worried the steps to our room might be challenging, they offered us a change of room without hesitation. No fuss was made and within minutes we were shown to our ground floor room. Wow what can i say! It was lovely, a very comfortable bed everything we could need. The Peel is a welcoming, friendly and fantasic value for money hotel. My partner and i travel alot with martial arts competitions and we will certainly be staying here again when in this area/Birmingham

There is nothing to mark down as a negative

The staff were friendly and attentive, the food excellent and my room very well appointed and quiet. I particularly liked the the bathroom shower gel and shampoo - very good quality. Everything spotless in the room and with the added bonus of real coffee! I didn't put excellent for comfort as my bed was a little firm - but that of course is a very personal choice. A real added bonus to be able to park at the property.

Everything was great! Lovely staff who were brilliant and kindly accommodated an early check-in. Fantastic facilities, fans in the rooms to keep us cool in the scorching weather. Kitchen was well equipped, had everything we needed. Location was excellent and was very convenient to get to the festival we were attending and a wide selection of restaurants nearby too. We also had a lovely lunch at Christopher's which is attached to the accommodation. Would definitely stay again!

Excellent independent hotel to stay at. Rooms modern, clean and tidy. Beds comfy an great showers. Parking at back for a number of vehicles (get there early if you can) Didnt have an evening meal but did have breakfast which is exceptional with fantastic quality produce. If your in a rush you can ask to take it away and they'll wrap it up for you. centrally located to a quick walk into the town centre Will certainly stay again when in the area.

this is the second time I've stayed at The Peel and, as before, it's a great hotel in Tamworth. Brilliant location, lovely staff and comfortable rooms. I was given a four-poster bed room which was a nice surprise. Very comfortable and will visit again.

My only complaint, and it's a small one because of the central location, is that their restaurant Christophers was not open the night I stayed. I enjoyed Christophers last time I stayed and would rather have eaten in than gone out.

Lovely spacious room and bathroom. Great tea and cafetière coffee selection. Cute restaurant downstairs for breakfast but sadly does finish serving food for dinner very early so needed to find an alternative locally.

Parking can be tight so may be tricky for anyone who’s not a confident driver or needs access to get in/out
