Kings Arms Hotel by Greene King Inns

An excellent location, in a lovely (and historic, as someone interested in WW2 aviation / Battle of Britain) part of the country. Smashing staff, good service, nice room, good food and ale in the evening, good breakfast - wish I'd had time to spend much longer over all of it!

My only negative comment would be that the accomodation looks a little 'tired'. I have no problem (indeed, enjoy) the irregular building and room layouts of such long-standing inns, and the room itself was smashing - but the corridors and more do need a "lick of paint" all round. Spotting the turn into the carpark took two goes, but that's my fault!

Booked this hotel for one night. Carparking to the rear, through a passage way. Booking in was quick and simple. The room was very large and clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. We ate there in the evening and had a very nice meal and breakfast was of a good quality. The hotel has a bar and this was nice to spend park of the evening in, before walking upstairs. I would come back her again as the location was good and suited what we needed to so the next day. The hotel has a large garden area and this would be a great place to be in the summer. I would suggest that Green King invest a bit more in the property and look at what it would improve, like the tired decoration and broken bed that has had a quick repair. There was evidence of many areas of water leaking into the conservatory. This could be an amazing property if Green King put a bit more investment into it. The staff are friendly and this is a credit to them as they try their best with what they have.

the receptionist manager was amazing and so helpful. We were attending a wedding nearby and had 5 rooms and she did everything to help. Hannah is a credit to the company

The property is rather outdated and decor carpets were tatty (however it was very clean and the bed was comfortable) the heating and compressor noise made it very difficult to sleep. Bar closes at 11 so no nightcap when you return after 11.

The hotel is dated, and could probably do with some investment in decorating, that said, it is an old building with all the quirks that come with it. The hotel staff were 1st Class, very polite, welcoming, and helpful. Breakfast was faultless, room warm with crisp fresh linen. If I'm fortunate enough to work in the area again, I'll certainly stay at the Kings Arms - Very Good value. I hope Green King appreciate the staff.

The room we were in was a little tired and could do with a lick of paint here and there but this wasn’t detrimental to the stay. It was comfortable. We didn’t notice a lift facility so anyone with mobility problems may need to ask for a room on a lower floor.

The staff at this hotel are always welcoming, friendly and helpful. They always go the extra mile despite a difficult working environment. There are constant challenges because the building has been so badly neglected. The staff deserve better.

This beautiful Grade 2 listed building has been shamefully neglected. Greene King or CK Holdings should be forced to improve and maintain this historic property.

The staff went above and beyond offering to carry bags for me (i was on my own and had a fair bit of stuff) They were all so helpful and friendly The room was quirky and had everything i needed. Great to have to sofa bed in a little side room but have to pass that to use the bathroom. The breakfast was lovely

The cold tap was so stiff i could barely use it. Could do with a little lick of paint.

The staff were amazing, especially the Assistant Manager. The dining room and bar were great with good selection of food for breakfast and dinner.

The room was on top floor with only stair access. The room was also very outdated and could have even done with a coat of pain and updating of the furniture and bathroom.

The staff were friendly, the food was lovely, the room was a good size. The pub had a friendly atmosphere and plenty of parking.

Everywhere just needs a good deep clean. Im not convinced the floors are swept or hoovered all that often. The window sills in the bedroom needed a wipe and the carpet needed a good hoover. The sink, bath and toilet were spotless. The bedding whilst fresh had some marks on it. Not bad enough to complain but some attention to detail is needed.

I stayed here alone this week for a course locally. This was a big deal for me something I’ve never done especially all by myself. I couldn’t have felt more at home, the staff were so approachable and friendly and nothing was ever too much to ask. I ate a couple of times whilst there and the food is lovely and very reasonably priced. My room was cute and well equipped with a hair dryer, tv, fan, and nice and clean. Perfect for what I needed with many added lovely extra bonuses with the lovely staff and good food. Thank you all for looking after me and taking away the daunting feeling of staying away from my family on my own. You all massively helped make it such a good experience. Decor a little dated like other reviews but certainly didn’t bother me or affect my stay.
