The Parkwood Hotel is superbly located near Marble Arch and Hyde Park. It is scrupulously clean and the rooms are well fitted out. Both Reception and Domestic staff were extremely friendly and accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. There is a lovely breakfast room with a very good selection of fruit juices, cereals and yoghurts plus the most delicious good quality cooked breakfast. My poached eggs were perfect! This is the perfect place to stay to be centrally located and well looked after.

I can’t say I disliked anything about this property. The only thing we struggled with were the stairs at times as there is not a lift as it’s a beautiful Regency townhouse. However this would not dissuade me from staying in the future.

Great location. Great sized room considering the cost and location. Mini fridge in the room. I was given a double bed even though I only booked a single room. The English breakfast was great - notably nice sausages and bacon unlike a lot of hotels. Overall decent. Anyone saying the rooms are small or it's overpriced clearly aren't familiar with hotels in London! For this price you are very fortunate if you can't use the toilet as a foot stool from your bed.

The room could do with a deep clean as there's dust in the bedside lamps. The door to my room had huge gaps in that let light through which I had to use some blister tape to block as I can't sleep in the light. The noise (traffic and other guests letting doors slam a lot) wasn't great. I would have expected some decaf coffee/tea in the room.

Huge room with two double beds, although if you were a family of four it would probably be just right for all of you. Reception staff were super friendly, room was clean, tidy & had all the facilities you needed from phone, alarm clock, refrigerator, hair dryer, fan (perfect for the 31st free weather we’ had on our stay), tv, tea, coffee etc with a kettle. Shower was a good pressure and clean, I did find it odd having a bathroom with no windows and the sink was in the bedroom (this is not a criticism at all just personal preference, similar with the mattress, unfortunately it wasn’t so friendly on our backs but everyone will find it different.) Hotel was in perfect location, we had been to the Palladium to watch Russel Howard and it took us about 25 minutes to walk back (stopping for some yummy waffles on the way back to the hotel). Breakfast was good, all you can eat English fry up, with toast, cereal and fruits available.

Mattress was not friendly to our backs unfortunately (personal preference, not at all a criticism!)

The staff were all lovely and very welcoming and helpful, the room was lovely and spacious enough for 2 adults and 2 toddlers with lots of storage space, easy to access and all the facilities provided were in great working order. Breakfast was lovely with plenty choice and nothing was too much for the staff to ensure we was all fuelled up ready for a big day of sightseeing :) the location was great with being just outside Hyde park with lots of shops a short walk away, was great for the kids. The staff also allowed us to check in a little early and ensured the room had been clean, this was very helpful as we had a theatre trip to see frozen booked (which was amazing, highly recommend) and gave us a little extra time to quickly get to the room and get the toddlers ready and bags un packed :)

location friendly staff price-quality ratio The location of Parkwood Hotel is excellent. In a quiet side street the sounds of traffic did not disturb especially in our room facing courtyard. Marble Arch underground station is only two blocks away. There are many different restaurants nearby of which the vegan The Gate Marilybone restaurant must be praised. The big parks Hyde Park and Kensington Garden are also nearby. In Hyde Park there it's also possible to go swimming for a small fee in the Serpentine Lido. The Oxford Street shopping street is very close and the Harrods department store as well. Our room (number 2) was on the street level. Even though our room had already seen it's best days, it was clean and had everything we needed. But general renovation and updating would make the room more comfortable and pleasant. Although there was no air conditioning in the room, the fan was enough to keep the room reasonably cool in the temperatures during our stay (max. 28 C°). The room's own small back terrace to the courtyard offered a little extra space and through the door it was good to cool the room in the evening and at night. The service at the reception and at breakfast was fast and friendly. A full English breakfast was made to order. Unfortunately there was no alternative for sausage and bacon for a vegetarian. Coffee/tea, yogurts, muesli/cereals and juices were available. Fresh fruit would have been nice. Communication in advance through the booking.com application was very smooth and fast. Despite it's small flaws Parkwood Hotels has a good price-quality ratio. Especially if the room is sufficient as a base for stay/sleep and the time is mainly spent elsewhere.

The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The breakfast was really good-the food was hot and very well prepared. We enjoyed the tinned grapefruit as well as the fruit juice. The fridge was a bonus-to keep the milk fresh for our tea and to stop the chocolate bars from melting. The cooked breakfast was very generous and filled us up each day. The size of the single beds was good-so we could stretch out a little. The room was quiet and was located at the back of the hotel. Books were available to read at the top of the first staircase-which were left behind by previous guests. There was a small patio/deck at the back of the hotel to sit in the sun-or just take a quiet break.

The duvets were far too heavy for the middle of summer, during a heatwave. Just a single sheet and one blanket or throw would have been enough. The room was quite small overall-so there wasn't much room to put our things. The main problem was the lack of air conditioning-London was 32 degrees during our stay. We only had a small fan for our room which just wasn't enough to help us cope with the heat at night. The bottom of the old wooden window was rotten, and it was very heavy and difficult to raise up in order to let fresh air in. There needs to be a bit of renovation done there.

Breakfast was tasty and you could combine different things from the full English breakffast menu or just dig into some cereal. The kitchen staff was amazingly friendly and kept checking whether we had everything we needed. Kids were the biggest fans of Monty who is probably the most patient and friendly dog I've ever seen. Rooms were a bit worn, but comfy and spacious enough for London.

One of our rooms had a safe that didn't work, but since the other one had a working one, it wasn't a problem and quite probably the staff could've handled it, but as it worked out fine for us, we didn't really ask them.

This is typical of the good but smaller older hotels in London, a number of floors with toilets and bathrooms at the back and no space to get a lift installed. The hotel was excellent value for money based on the location, size and quality of the room, plus en-suite and breakfast included. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Being a typical smaller older London hotel, the plumbing especially could do with an overhaul and there was the need to use extension leads to provide enough sockets for modern living (chargers for several people etc)

Proper english breakfast buffet. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Fairly central location with nice restaurants close by, short bus drive to Covent garden, Whitechapel and typical tourist destinations.

No air condition, really. Not that it ever get sweltering hot. London weather is the definition of damp, so the hotel can't be held responsible for that bit. It's an old hotel and you can just leave a window open, not much else to do about it.

Packwood Hotel is in an amazing location with easy waking to Hyde Park, Oxford Street, Marbel Arch tube station, Buckingham Palace, and many other places. A multitude of great pubs and restaurants close by for all choices of food lover. The hotel may be an older establishment, but it was clean and very comfortable, and the staff were brilliant. You won't be disappointed with their freshly cooked up breakfast before you head out to explore London. Will definitely stay again.
