Shangri-La The Shard, London

The hotel is fitted out to a very high standard and looked clean and tidy, the staff are very pleasant and polite. The room had all required faculties and the bed / pillows were perfect. Amazing views of London when you wake up in the morning. The staff in the restaurants were very attentive and the breakfast was excellent. The views from all areas of this hotel are amazing, something I doubt you will be able to experience in other hotel in London.

The room was not ready for our 4pm check in which was disappointing as we arrived and checked in at 1pm, This did ruin the start of our weekend holiday break. The pool area is very small if you have kids and have to book time slots to use it, otherwise if you are visiting as an individual or couple then the pool area is fine. There was large crack in the external side window, which is very concerning since the room was on the 42nd floor.

With hotels such as Shangri-La at The Shard aiming for such high standards, it is not surprising that small problems may arise - It's the way any problem is resolved that is important. On this occasion, our room fell below the standard we are used to. As frequent guests, we knew far better was the norm. One quick chat with Guest Relations is all that was needed. An 'Iconic' room that we have stayed in twice before was identified, available, and made ready for our approval. That's more like it! 'Wall to wall River Thames', enormous, a bath-tub view of Tower Bridge ... and a few treats courtesy of the hotel. Thank you to the excellent Archi, for the swift, expert, and extremely satisfactory way that our disappointment was dealt with. You made our three night stay in London a pleasure.

It's a shame how breakfast in Ting has become prohibitively costly. A lovely venue, great service, wonderful selection ... but nearly £100 each morning for two breakfasts .. Ouch!

Everything was beautiful except very very disappointed with breakfast

Breakfast was not good enough and service was absolutely terrible in the breakfast room . Coffee was served after we finished our poor breakfast although they took the order before breakfast and then cold coffee. The hotel and staff were excellent and our room was beautiful

Clean and spacious room with amazing view. On arrival, we had complimentary cakes in the room which were nut-free, personally catered towards my 3 year old son’s allergies. There was also a cuddly fox toy waiting for him on the bed and a child’s bathrobe which was a cute touch. The room service food was delicious, we had the fish and chips and noodles. The bed was comfortable, the view was perfect during the day and night. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Breakfast buffet was delicious and brilliant variety, fresh ingredients.

When I called for the room service plates to be taken out of the room nobody came although I was advised they would. Secondly, I was charged twice and had to wait about 5 days until the money was available in my account again which I felt was very unprofessional and somewhat off-putting to stay again.

The staff was very helpful, kind, respectful, understanding communication between us. The room was clearly cleaned, normal temperature, I loved the it specially the bathroom. I really enjoyed taking my breakfast while I admired the seeing of London City. I enjoyed celebrating my friend's birthday on the 38th floor.

The stay was really short, I came at 7 : 40 pm in the 21st of January and I had to leave the room at 12 :00 am on the 23rd January . Could you extend the stay for one night? The price is very expensive for one night around £ 900 for 2 adults .

View was amazing , staff & service were excellent . Room was a good size & very quite.

Not being able to go for a drink in the bar with out booking a slot . This was difficult as it was extremely busy with non residents. Having a time limit if you did get a booking particularly if you were eating. Disappointing given the room rates , took the edge of what should have been a relaxing stay.

Spacious, comfortable room with the amazing view that was expected. Paid extra for a bath with a view and it was well worth it even if it was probably the most expensive bath I've ever taken! Loved the swimming pool and sauna, both have absolutely spectacular views. The staff were all lovely and very professional. I mentioned that I only drink rooibos tea and a whole pack was placed in my room during the turn down service on my first night. I booked a massage and it was incredible! I would definitely stay again.

Very small attention to detail, for example in my room it was not possible to find a plug for my curling iron that had somewhere safe that I could rest it and a mirror nearby for me to be able to see what I was doing. The glass top on the unit where the TV was placed was loose so it could move quite easily which was a little concerning. My suitepad initially worked fine, then for some reason just stopped working, but as I didn't really need it, I didn't feel it was worth mentioning at the time. The swimming pool temperature was a little too cold at first. The slippers seem to be made for people with quite small and narrow feet.

What an incredible stay at the Shangri-La. I booked here to surprise my partner for his birthday and it was honestly the best money I have spent. The hotel is immaculate, the floristry is a work of art, you are treated as a valued guest by every single member of the Shangri-La, the place runs like clockwork. I do not have one complaint! The rooms are like things of dreams, seamless, comfortable, spacious. The beds! Oh the beds! Sleeping in the clouds has more than one meaning. The beds are the most comfortable beds you could wish for. The bedding, crisp and clean, the bathroom absolutely dreamy. The cleanest tidiest space. The most amazing team of staff ever imaginable, a massive special thank you to Amy, Umberto and Bruno who truly went above and beyond to make the experience perfect and surprising my partner possible! Each of the team members mentioned were extremely professional, personable, and knowledgeable, clean, smiling, accommodating and inviting. Nothing was too much trouble, even helping with room decorations and balloons. I could write about them all day. Please extend my gratitude for all their hard work! They are a total credit to your establishment. If anyone is reading this and considering whether to book, please just do it! It really will be an experience you’ll never forget. Thank you, thank you, thank you Shangri-La for providing such an impeccable space and service.

unique - tallest building in Europe with an unrivalled view of London. very relaxing watching everything in slow motion on the ground from that height. Beside the view, the suite was better than expected and the staff made me want to come back

Ting. Shockingly poor dinner. The veg / vegan food was very limited, the restaurant seemed understaffed and didn’t offer desert. It took ages to get the bill. Despite me booking in advance and telling the hotel it was my wife’s 40th birthday, they didn’t get us a table by the window nor did the staff wish her a happy birthday. Very overpriced and wouldn’t go back. Some of the staff were not pleasant either. breakfast however was delightful and service with a smile. broad selection of Chinese, English and Lebanese food.

What can I say - with most things in life you tend to get what you pay for. Paying for a triple aspect room at the Shard was unlikely to dissapoint and it didn't. Of course it's pricey but for us it was a special occassion so a one-off. The view was our rooms best attribute and it was absolutely breathtaking - better than the views you will pay for at the restaurants by some stretch. We could essentially see a full 180 panoramic view of entire north side of the Thames including Tower Bridge. Aside from the views the staff are extremely polite and attentive and the small touches in the room are numerous and welcome.

There wasn't much not to like, I guess some might complain about the costs but theres a reason they place the rates so high as you wont get a similar experience in many places in London. I guess if you were to be pedantic you might not like having to take 2 separate elevators to get to your room which is required due to the layout unfortunately.
