The Swan Hotel Bar and Grill0

This is the second time I have stayed at the Swan and was pleased with my choice again. Things I like include the location as it is right on Maldon High Street, carpark on site, lovely owners/staff and decent quality room and shower. The bar actually shuts at 7pm on a Sunday but as we were residents we were able to get a drink when we came back from meeting family for dinner and got recommendations for where to head to for a nightcap.

The mattress was a bit lumpy/soft for my liking but for one night that didn't matter too much.

The room was lovely - clean, spacious, well-furnished. An old building respectfully treated to make it suitable for modern expectations.

Not the fault of the Swan, but because of the extreme heat we had to sleep with the windows open and, being at the front of the building, the traffic kept us awake most of the night. The double glazing and thick curtains would normally mean this isn't a problem.

Room clean and comfortable

The restaurant was closed and I wasn't informed until I had paid and was informed via e-mail. Arrived at hotel and it was all shut up. However after I called owner he soon arrived to check me in. Good job the hotel was on the High St so I could get evening meal and breakfast.

Brilliant location with parking, the room although old property with wonky floors was beautifully decorated very clean and comfortable. Stairs steep, may need to take this into consideration if mobility is an issue. Staff very helpful and friendly. Would recommend and would stay again.

Very comfortable bed and light airy room. Nice and clean. Plenty of tea/coffee/biscuits provided. Staff extremely pleasant and helpful.

My room was at the front of the hotel so did experience some traffic noise, but this is to be expected when staying in such a central location on the high street.

Everything!! The staff were friendly, supportive, responsive, efficient. The hotel clean and trendy without spoiling its vintage feel. Perfectly positioned in the high street with plenty of parking.

No breakfast at the hotel, but we found a delightful Tea Room two doors up, serving excellent choice of delicious breakfasts.

The cleanliness. Nicely decorated. New bath towels. No noise despite on high street - good secondary glazing. Lovely sheets on the bed.

The strong smell of gloss paint. Bed mattress very soft although my partner slept very well. I didn't, personal preference.

no breakfast non stop canned music outside my window during bar open hours 12noon to 23.00 obsolete Covid precautions message sent by Booking.com day before my arrival! Almost made me cancel my booking! This message should now be removed.

Nice location on the high street. We only slept at the hotel, so can’t comment on much but it was lovely and clean, comfortable bed and nice size room, with everything you need. I would have liked to have stayed longer and enjoyed the bar and restaurant, I’m sure we will return another time.

The room was a good size and a comfy bed with large smart flat screen TV and plenty of tea and coffee facilities. The restaurant was excellent and would recommend booking for dinner.

Due to COVID I was told on arrival Breakfast was not included. This was not made clear when booked or advertised on their own website. I was disappointed as after experiencing their restaurant food I am confident the breakfast would be fabulous too. Nevertheless we still had a wonderful stay at the Swan.
