The staff were down to earth and friendly from the off. The hotel was minutes from everywhere walking At the moment there is a carpark, pay and display, that is not used, the machines are not there, but I would take a photo of the signs and "no machine to pay in order to display", as some people have had tickets, but photo evidence will have the claim thrown out (i am no lawyer, so take your own chance). The pub under the hotel is perfect for food and a late drink or company prior to going to room, or for a lovely breakfast. Lovely rooms for the cost and lovely staff.

Windows in our room were double glazed, they do not open, which would be nice to let fresh air in, but there is air con.

The location is excellent and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast included (à la carte) in a nice and spacy pub on the ground floor.

Our room was small, but that was no problem. What we didn’t like was that the windows cannot be opened and the ventilation in the bathroom wasn’t functioning properly. As it was hot inside it was like a sauna. The airco is excellent, but personally I cannot sleep with airco on. The staff tried to change rooms, but the hotel was fully booked. They brought a fan instead what was very kind :)

Hotel and facilities were one of the best I've seen for a pub-inn. Hotel staff were accommodating and even assisted me with attempting to find a lost item in my room. Hotel was clean, well-presented, had a premium boutique decor, and was easy to access by elevator. Room itself had great amenities, including coffee and tea, TV, ironing appliances, and an excellent shower and toilette. Internet was fast and I could use it efficiently for work. Hotel was also conveniently located close to Manchester Victoria for travel the next day. Excellent value for money and I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

The only minor issues were a couple of yobs making noise in an adjacent room. Other than that, nothing major and I can't complain about the stay.

Took my Mum to Manchester for a city break. The Abel Heywood was a great place to stay. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and very warm. We also strongly recommend the food in the bar, which was delicious and very reasonably priced. The hotel had a lift and secure key card doors throughout the building. Highly recommend the nearby Manchester Craft Centre, which hosts a community of jewellers, glass and ceramic makers, and other artists.

On first arrival, appeared to be a bit out of the way, but we soon found our bearings. Definitely worth exploring the area.

The hotel is lovely. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Always good when we have tea and coffee facilities . Loved the decor in the bar and toilets. Which were really clean. Breakfast was very tasty too. Very generous helpings. We were very close to the AO Arena and city centre which is great.

Our only gripe would be the room itself and how it is set out. The bed was pushed up to the wall which I don't like at all. The bedding was slightly lumpy too. Not great views but we didn't stay there for the scenery. All in all a great place to stay with everything' on the doorstep.

Abel Heywood could not be in a better location. In a quiet corner of the Northern Quarter it could not be more conveniently located and accessible to all Manchester’s attractions. The hotel itself is charming with its own unique character. The staff are what make the experience. Mancunian hospitality is second to none anyway as everyone is genuinely friendly and shows the best of the city but these guys really went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The lovely man from the north of Ireland was especially helpful and really looked after us. The room itself was comfortable with a nice bathroom, comfy bed and good telly. The complimentary water, teas and coffee were all of really good quality too.

location is amazing only couple minute walk to Arndale shopping centre where there’s plenty of shopping and most of all great food! everything is walking distance, and there was a local corner shop and Tesco express minute or two walk away for any essentials. Had a lovely warm welcome, we was even given the tip to look up the website Manchester Confidential which at the time had a list of restaurants with amazing offers for the month of January, most were 50% deals. Room was cleaned each day which was much appreciated after a long day out and about in the city.

sadly the bathroom blind had no chain on was broken and the air com/ heater unit didn’t work however thankfully the rooms have spare plug in heaters

The hotel is a hidden gem. The Abel Heywood (named after one of Manchester's mayors) is a beautiful, traditional pub with an excellent selection of ales. It's situated in the Northern Quarter which is a popular area for hipsters looking for artisan shops, bars and eateries. The hotel claims to be a boutique hotel and it really is - it's lovely. We had an accessible room (I asked for one that didn't involve stairs and they assumed that I needed an accessible room). Comfy bed and decent tea/coffee making facilities. After a great night's sleep we were treated to an exceptional breakfast downstairs in the pub. Decent products, well cooked...and lots of it. Lovely coffee too! The staff at the Abel Heywood are really excellent - friendly and efficient.

The toilet was a little dirty and this was a bit disappointing. Also the flush handle was broken and was a little fiddly to use. The whole bathroom looked a little tired. The sink in the wetroom is rather low - obviously for wheelchair users - but as a non-wheelchair user it wasn't any good for me (I have a bad back and couldn't bend over to use it, ending up kneeling on the floor to make use of it). Same with the bathroom mirrors which were all low level - my wife found those difficult to use. The lighting made it difficult to use the hairdryer as it was quite dark in the room. (That didn't bother me but my wife commented on this). These negatives are really minor - the hotel is lovely!

I enjoyed my stay very much. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was nice, with air conditioning, a separate heating and very comfortable. Free water, tea and coffee bags were replenished daily, as were small biscuits. I didn’t book with an inc. breakfast but ordered it separately in the restaurant. This was very delicious. When I will be in Manchester next time I will come back definitely.

There were only some really small things that could be criticised: 1. There were no cosmetic tissues 2. the windows did not open 3. I had to place my suitcase on the bed as there was no space somewhere else in the room

despite being above a pub, the rooms themselves are extremely quiet, the room was comfortable, the air conditioning is great (considering the windows don’t open, it is needed so thank you) and the location is excellent!

the breakfast was not good, the grill needs to be turned higher as both the bacon and the sausage looked almost anaemic. I was also told by staff that I can pay later on an app for the car park that’s opposite the hotel but as it turns out, that’s not true and I was slapped with a parking fine (turns out, it’s pay when you park)
