The Post House

I stayed here for 5 weeks whilst doing a #BuildingHeroes course in Ibstock. the accommodation was outstandingly comfortable and Susan and Michael were the perfect hosts - nothing was too much trouble. I was in Rm 3 the whole 5 weeks, the bed was excellent and the water always hot. Treats were provided along with the usual tea, coffee, etc. Although evening meals were not provided, Susan gave full access to the dining room for visitors the bring in their own meals and allowed me to keep items in her personal fridge/freezer. One of my most memorable trips and I will always return here if I’m ever in the region again ❤️

Wow!! Without a doubt, it was the best B&B we've ever stayed in. Susan's attention to detail is superb. From her initial welcome to our departure , nothing was overlooked or too much trouble. Beautifully clean rooms with all the extras you could wish for, an absolutely delicious, well presented, full English breakfast . Proper, home laundered bedding that smelt gorgeous, which complemented the most comfortable of beds. You get the picture, I could go on and on, but the best thing anyone can do is to pay Susan's place a visit!! You will not be disappointed!!

Lovely friendly welcome from Susan. Room was to a very high standard, spotlessly clean and well presented. Breakfast in the morning was freshly cooked, delicious and tailored to dietary requirements. The location is great for accessing surrounding major cities and local historical attractions. We were visiting the NEC the next day for a show and it was a 40 minute easy and enjoyable drive through the beautiful countryside in the morning. Without the stress of crawling commuter traffic on busy A roads. We enjoyed chatting with Susan, followed her recommendations for a pub meal in the evening, and sat in the garden afterwards as it was a warm evening. There were lots of options a short drive away and options in the immediate area. Definitely our first choice when we are visiting the local area, we will be back. Understand why the Post House has lots of loyal customers.

Breakfast was superb, Bathroom was excellent, room was neat and tidy, option to have room cleaned daily if desired. Toiletries provided included sponge, shampoo, shower gel etc. Clean towels, room had some beverages including tea, coffee, chocolate drink, biscuits and chocolate. Host mentioned if more refreshments was needed you can request for more. Secure parking within a gated compound. There is facility for electric car charging (separate charge according to usage).

Eating hot food in your room is discouraged. Although guests can use the breakfast serving area anytime with microwave, plates and utensils provided. I personally didn't have an issue with this.

The moment you enter the courtyard you're on beautiful & well kept grounds. It's so inviting and welcoming from the moment you step foot onto the property. The host was amazing & friendly, provided us with a thorough tour of the property, we explained we were attending Download Festival for the day and requested an early check in, our room was ready for us 2 hours earlier than the original early check in we had which allowed us to travel to the festival and not miss anything. The property was clean and the room very spacious. The extra touches in the bathroom with the cotton pads, sponges etc was also great & the chocolate left on our bed was a lovely touch too. Over all a great experience and I would definitely visit again. Personally the host, Susan was the best part of our experience during our stay at The Post House.

Susan was so very welcoming from the beginning. We stayed in the 'Wonky Room' and it was the perfect amount of quirkiness for us. Susan did all she could to make our stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. The bed was comfy, plenty of tea, coffee, toiletries etc made available in our room. Breakfast was delicious and again Susan was very attentive without being over bearing. Plenty to chose from and all fresh. We both enjoyed our stay and have booked to come back again!

Absolutely loved my stay! Susan is such a gracious host and hopefully not scared by my ghostly make up upon first meeting. The property is so cozy and feels so comfortable, it felt like being at home. My room was lovely, very inviting and the rounded door was adorable! I absolutely LOVED the shower, the whole room was so clean and lovely coffee/tea/hot chocolate facility in the room. I very much enjoyed having additional seating that wasn't a desk chair as it made me feel more at home. It felt very secure on site, due to the electric gates as well. I didn't get to try the breakfast this time, due to working early, but hopefully on my next visit I will have more time for this! Thank you for having me!

Just returned home from a fantastic three-night stay at The Post House, while working in the area. From my arrival through to my departure, Susan was friendly, welcoming and at the same time non-intrusive - simply available for any queries. Comfortable, good-sized room for a solo, working traveller with a laptop and documents to read through. Excellent, secure parking with no need to be concerned about my vehicle while parked in the gated parking area away to the rear of the premises. Excellent accomodation for travellers, workers, and visiting frogs... Recommended.

Host were very pleasant, attentive when required and all around perfect hosts. B&B close enough to Donington Racetrack for us to use as an overnight stay. The gated courtyard for car parking was an added bonus. Excellent Turkish takeaway along the street and lovely courtyard to eat it in on a sunny evening. We also had a walk out and found the local cricket club where we were made to feel welcome by the staff. Bathroom was very clean, and the breakfast was perfect for our needs.

Great base for some local and medium distance sightseeing. Our host's substantive knowledge of local history and amenities helped us pick and choose the best places to visit for fun and food. This in-between our booked primary event... The Derbyshire sausage and cider festival... Brilliant!

Not having enough time to use this excellent B&B as a base to visit more attractions. I guess we'll just have to rebook a few more days in the future.
