Very close to the centre and lovely shops around the hotel. Quiet location other than church opposite but we only heard the bell toll once during our 2 night stay. Room was ensuite and comfortable. Food very nice and not bad prices

Would have liked breakfast to have been a little later. Crack in our shower base, but it looked like they had repaired it. Think it should really have been replaced but didn't alter the workings of the shower, which was lovely and warm and great pressure. There was only 2 plug sockets in the room and we needed one for the fan as it was so hot. So many more sockets needed nowadays due to phones and watches needing to be charged...

Room was clean with a big shower and the decor throughout the building was nice. Staff were friendly and the food was good too. great that it has car parking spaces that are specifically for guests- excellent location, we were able to walk to the Apex theatre in under ten minutes and enjoyed the Saturday market.

The room was very hot but did cool once we’d turned the radiators down. we think we were unfortunate to visit on a bank holiday Friday (at the start of Easter weekend) as the locals were out and about shouting in the street outside until the early hours- although not a fault of this accommodation, it did disrupt our sleep. however this wouldn’t deter me from coming back again as I don’t see anyone else commenting on this in previous reviews and think we were just unlucky.

Always wanted to stay in a pub! Overall our experience was wonderful. Check-in/Check out was a breeze. Room was normal size for England and bathroom was a good size with stall shower. We had an exterior room next to the parking lot. Was some noise from pub patrons but nothing terrible. Location is awesome! Close to center of Bury and National Rail Service. Included breakfast was more than expected. Not just continental, was able to order from full menu.

The location was excellent. very pleased to find parking available. we were able to visit the abbey and cathedral very nearby.

The main areas of the pub were kept very clean but the bedroom was in need of updating. we have stayed in a lot of Old English Inns and have always enjoyed the buffet at breakfast. sadly there was only a few tired looking apples and oranges. there were no yogurts or pastries. The cooked breakfast was excellent.

Excellent location near the centre, accessible parking, comfortable room, great shower with plenty of hot water. Very quiet- no noise from the pub or the street. Comfortable bed in a warm room. Staff very friendly and helpful. All at a fair price. Enjoyed drinking cider in a welcoming traditional pub. So good we have booked to return.

Nothing - perhaps a bath as well as a shower but I am being unreasonable especially when the shower was excellent.

Dawn and Steve were very hard working and attentive to all guests nothing too much trouble , but when Dawn ws off standard fell i.e. No housekeeping done at all no clean towels no bed no bins emptied . change no milk or tea and coffee provided or even asked if required . But we had a lovely stay it was comfortable and we were visiting family and it was easy access to town.

Just the lack of attention when Dawn was not around.

The staff are an absolute assest to this place. Friendly, kind, courteous and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. It has a lovely atmosphere, very quirky place so could either sit and enjoy a drink in the thick of it or sit somewhere quiet. Breakfast, not a massive selection but enough. Willing to change something if you didnt quite want it how it was described. Nice quick service and hot on arrival. Our room wasn't huge but didn't expect it to be. Had everything you needed, iron ironing board, fan, plenty of hanging space. Location was perfect! Would stay again.

I'm going to have to be really picky. The only couple of things and it didnt affect our stay or put us off returning but would enhance the stay was to improve the lighting in the room and bathroom. It was quite dark and when putting make up on difficult to see properly. The other thing, personal choice, would be to have some bottled water in the room. I'm sure if we asked some would have been supplied but we didn't as was the middle of night.

Very clean, comfortable accommodation. Excellent location, proper traditional pub, but above all, a slick team of helpful and attentive staff, a breath of fresh air these days. Always loved Greene King as a brewery, now appreciate their efforts to maintain their reputation. Excellent choice of breakfast, and it was spot on. Thank you !

Nothing. Thought it would be a bit noisy late on a Friday. The manager was on the ball, and it was the quietest town hotel/pub we've stayed in.

I had English breakfast and an evening meal, both of which were good. Attractive historic building, appropriately modernised. Friendly staff. En suite bedroom was clean and adequate. Very good location in a quiet street.

As it is primarily a pub, there is some noise until the middle of the evening. I was in one of 3 or 4 en suite rooms as an annexe off the car park. There was some lack of privacy and the layout could have been better planned. This was OK but may not suit everyone.

I stayed in room 7 which is the Abbot room. The room contained a double bed, night table, chair, fan, desk/chair, and bathroom. While no large room, it was adequate for one person. The room faced the front and was above the inn, but noise was minimal. The bathroom was updated with a shower stall, sink, and toilet. It also had an electric towel heater. The room also came with an iron and board. It had a tea kettle and an assortment of tea.. Wifi was easy to connect to and had a good signal. Breakfast came with my room and selection was good. The attendant made sure to provide anything I needed. Also, the dinner menu and beer selection was ample and I had no complaints about the food. I would stay here again should my travels lead me back.

The only negative was the sink had individual hot and cold water taps instead of one combined where the water temperature could be adjusted.
