The Packhorse Inn

Assuming you need to be in this part of the country, the location is great - not far from Newmarket. Clearly, this is 'gastropub' style - the evening meal was brilliant (if a tad expensive - it is a pub after all, not a city restaurant) and the breakfast was exactly as a Full English should be, including the important black pudding.

Arriving on one of the two hot days of an English summer, the lack of air conditioning (which you might find in a hotel for instance) was apparent. The weather isn't the fault of this establishment of course, just pointing out that its the one time I might have switched the A/C on... The room was nice enough. No desk, no additional chair...a bit 'sparse'...but ok for one night.

our meal on Sunday evening was not as good as Saturday evening. Saturday evening , food & service was excellent. breakfast was very good on Sunday morning but not so good on Monday morning. When we have stayed on previous occasions breakfast was included. In fact I had been told that Booking. com bookings always included breakfast. So I wrongly presumed it was included on this occasion too.

Fantastic place with very helpful and polite staff, food in restaurant was brilliant also.

Only complaint was that there was no milk so was unable to make tea/coffee in the room, also it was slightly odd that there was only a bath and no shower. I was under the impression there would be a shower, however, maybe I misread the room description, though I did not see that anywhere at the time of booking.

A beautiful property, well situated in the small village hamlet of Moulton for visitors to Newmarket. The rooms were spotlessly clean whilst the decor and food offerings were impressive. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious and arrived promptly. The Packhorse also gives true meaning to the phrase “dog friendly”, a small packet of treats, a toy and a bed (as well as a towel for muddy paws) were waiting on arrival.

The courtyard room did not have a window that opened, this unfortunately meant that the room became quite hot and stuffy.

Lovely Inn in a quiet village outside Newmarket. Very good bar and the restaurant is excellent. Staff very friendly and good breakfast. Decor and general condition very good with plenty of parking

Room was overlooking the garden which was good but the kitchen was below and the extractor was noisy. It meant keeping the window closed on a very hot evening.

Beautiful location overlooking the huge green, gorgeous quiet village. Accommodation was excellent, warm & the bathroom had underfloor heating, & fantastic shower also very good shampoo & other bits all very good quality. Staff are very attentive & food is outstanding to say the least. Would we return?…….without hesitation, already looking,

Room was extremely comfortable and well appointed. The restaurant was fabulous with excellent service and the food was great. A hearty breakfast, made with quality ingredients topped off our stay beautifully. Really pretty village with nice walks. Staff are super helpful.

Nothing....everything went above and beyond expectations!

Comfortable, clean room with good facilities. Had a fantastic meal in the pub too with very friendly staff.

A little disappointed to find out that the pub is closed Monday and Tuesday so Booking.com shouldn’t have sold it as B&B as there was no breakfast. Was refunded but disappointing and would have been nice to know in advance.

Our stay at The Packkorse always feels like a luxurious treat. The food , the staff , and the service for us are always spot on.

Nothing at all we didn't like, really, but just to note, my husband does prefer a separate shower as opposed to over the bath. I just like to languish in a bath in the bedroom!

Really loved it. Staff were very friendly, room wasn't ready but they were so helpful. We were going to a wedding and were worried we wouldn't get our key when we returned late. We were shown our room so we knew where to go and were reassured that the key would be in the lock so we could let ourselves in. We were also offered the chance to leave our bags. The breakfast was the best I've had
