Great Western

The expectations I expected for the price were exeeded We were impressed with the service we experienced the moment we arrived by the preprepared reservation of the parking space The courtesy and attentiveness of all the staff we encountered The quality and value of the food was very good hot and beautifully presented meals so well done to the kitchen staff ! Location was amazing we can’t wait to come again!

We just felt a little sorry for the building As a beautiful and iconic classic hotel I would like to see it shine with a lovely exterior paint and a bit of love where required but it must be a tricky and costly task to maintain Perhaps customers could be offered the opportunity to donate into a restoration fund

I'd booked a twin room so it was a nice surprise to have both a double and a single bed in the room with plenty of space. Although we didn't have a sea view, there was a tantalising glimpse of the bay behind the hotel through the side window. It was nice being so close to the bay and the beach and the town, even though we weren't in what would be considered to be the 'posh' part (i.e. Fistral). The staff were friendly and helpful.

Although the room was tip-top with nice biscuits, coffee, teas etc, the toilet paper could have been of better quality according to my partner!

I had had an accident enroute to hotel. ALL staff we met were SUPERB. We could not believe their empathy and multiple kindnesses on every level during our stay. Under the circumstances, this was vital and very, very much appreciated. Bedroom and bed ideal as I spent most of my trip with my leg elevated, in bed! My sister got out and did some walking alone and really enjoyed the hotel, beach location/promixity to everything. We hope to return to do our walking trip when my broken knee is repaired and I can get walking again. Thank you ALL for EVERYTHING you did for us.

10/10 breakfast could not fault it, but would have liked fresh fruit available menu has berries only. 10/10 bed slept better than in most hotels! friendly staff particularly in the restaurant. Small shower cubicle but good water pressure. The beer was fresh and clean tasting. Location and views excellent. Walkable distance to bars and restaurants and of course the beach.

Not sure why there are bushes around the terrace blocking the view? Some stains on curtain and 1 of the drawers had a plastic clothes tag inside, window frames dirty on opening. other wise very clean and dust free.

The location was perfect, so convenient for heading to the beach and the restaurant was really good value for money. The staff were super friendly, even down to the cleaning staff who we bumped into a few times!

The noise is really loud from each room, we could hear every time someone got out of bed / ran their tap or walked around. Was awoken on Friday morning at 7am from someone testing what sounded like a microphone and kept up all night on Thursday from the person above us walking around all night! I’d advise asking for a room on the top level!

Great location, right by beaches. Easy to walk to town centre and Fistral. Room had fab view over beach and ocean. Breakfast was good

Shower was terrible, complained and was offered refund of parking which never came. Paying to reserve parking. Electric switches for towel rail located in bedroom and glowed all night. Had to be switched off at mains which meant towels didn't necessarily dry (we went at beginning of Feb). Some corridors had strange smells. Location, external facilities, and size leave this hotel with great potential especially given the price brackets of other similarly located hotels.

Upon our arrival with car parking booked,it was impressive to see are parking space with our name and car registration was clearly chalked up for parking,no searching just parking excellent.

Evening Meal, It was disappointing to see all tables reserved for window seating especially where tables has time scheduled went by were still not being used. Reserved window seating tables should be dispensed with and the exception being for celebratory couples only. With this arrangement in place it would give other residents the opportunity to experience window seating.

Located in the top of Newquay, the Great Western is an older hotel with an extension off to the side, the hotel overlooks the sea and is in a good position for access into and out of Newquay. The age means is is a little bit of a rabbit warren with the bedrooms, nothing scary just a larger than expected hotel. Great room overlooking the sea with good quality Elemis toiletries and a good choice of various teas (teapigs) and coffees inc capsules. We had breakfast booked and the choice was good, a smaller buffet selection with choice of cooked breakfast again with some higher quality items and sundries.

Nothing to say here, it was a good surprise and would visit again.

Just about everything; the staff were very friendly and efficient. The breakfasts were brilliant, the room was very clean and comfortable with an amazing view of the beach. My reason for visiting Newquay was to catch up with old friends, having lived there previously, so my hotel wasn't my highest priority. However the hotel was so good that it really made it a most pleasurable experience. I will definitely go to Great Western again - it was fabulous. Well done everyone there who made it so lovely - thank you.

Excellent location, all staff was very friendly and helpful especially the lady who checked us in (sorry we did not take her name) - loved the showers in our rooms with good pressure & very clean. Beds were comfy.

Lower level rooms do not have good views. No air conditioning in extreme heat this weekend we had, we were however given fan for each room when asked. Pre-booked breakfast lacks choice and I am glad we opted to buy our own which gave decent breakfast - Rooms & bathroom appear to have been refurbished but exterior of hotel could do with a lick of paint.
