This is our second stay at the Maid's Head and this time was just as wonderful as the first. The location is exceptional, enabling your guests to explore all the beautiful city of Norwich on foot. And the Cathedral is right next door - how marvelous! We loved it and will no doubt be returning one day soon.
The sole thing that was mildly annoying - and it is very minor - is the packaging on the sachets of coffee provided in the room. They are almost impossible to get into without sharp scissors! We did mention this upon our departure at the desk and we understand it ahs been brought to your attention already. A very small detail in an otherwise very happy stay.

Loved how rickety and the character of all the wonky walls/floors/build. It’s an old hotel and you can tell! Historic info in some of the rooms and available at the reception. Loved the decor and luxury feel to all of it. Lovely card and sweets from the hotel in honour of our anniversary. Great shower, luxury products (white company) soaps and shower gels in the room. Lovely real coffee sachets and luxury hot choc in the room. Complimentary bottled water (much needed after several cocktails in the city) Fantastic location. Friendly reception staff. Car parking for whole stay (£8 per day booked) and you can arrive early and leave car until 3pm on day of checkout. Wine press restaurant casual dining food was ok, fairly priced.
Winepress restaurant was a little long winded whilst awaiting food but apologies were accepted and we were offered complimentary drinks from the waiting staff which we accepted. (There’s local gins to try)

We didn't eat at the hotel The hotel is very comfortable and most of the staff were very pleasant and helpful
On our 1st night we went into the bar for a nightcap The prices were extortionate and the service was none existent After our 1st drink we decided to have another We waited and waited for someone to be behind the bar Eventually one of us went to find someone and was greeted by a very surly young lady whom we had only seen clearing tables who went on to lecture us about not asking her when she was clearing plates from a table in the bar She said that all the staff were busy serving in the restaurant So it took 3 members of staff to serve 2 tables (4 people) and totally ignore the bar If you are charging extortionate prices you should offer appropriate service

Hotel location was excellent, staff friendly and breakfast very decent, albeit buffet style. Our room was 219 and it was very dark indeed, overlooking a/c units and I'm sorry to say, it smells awful, which we reported on departure, and wasn't even noted. There were plug in air fresheners so should have given a clue. There was no bath, disappointing too. And the bathroom door was in an awful location. The beds were 2 singles pushed together which always drives me mad, and they were really soft, but the cushions very cheap feeling and hard? We also couldn't drink in the garden as they had a function on unfortunately for us. This all said, we had a lovely stay and would actually go back, but with a better room next time.

It's an excellent hotel...with one glaring exception. Superb breakfast buffet, very courteous and efficient staff, excellent beds, large rooms, incredible location. I stayed in 2016 and wanted to return, especially given the proximity to the cathedral and the history of MaidsHead.
My problem was my first night. I was put in a small room facing the street and directly across from a pub. The pub clientele were outside (it was July), very close to my window, talking loudly (naturally enough), and the noise made it impossible to sleep until closing. Between its small size and terrible location, it has to be the worst room in the hotel. I really would suggest it not be used at all. The prospect of spending five nights there was impossible to imagine, so I asked to be changed. Someone goofed. No one should be asked to stay in such a room, especially not for several nights. That was the one problem I had. Other than that, I was very happy at Maids Head and would be glad to stay there again.

everything went well as indicated above.
the restaurant service for dinner was poor ,our first night was good even though some dishes were not available. Our second night was poor . we arrived at 7,30 and again some dishes were not available. After awhile we told that the chef would make me a fish pie Just before 9pm my pie arrived, it was ok but mainly contained shrimps or tiny prawns. we felt our evening had been entirely wasted. Other folk told us similar happenings. It was such a pity as the breakfasts were very good. we would return to the hotel but would definitely enquire about the restaurant. I have already sent this response soon after our visit in August.

I booked the Wensum Suite for my 2 Italian friends (from Milan) because of the history associated with the hotel and its perfect location to take in the history and the wonderful buildings and streets of our perfect city. They were thrilled with their room and thoroughly enjoyed breakfast over their 3 night stay. We dined one evening in The Wine Press restaurant. I had the beef fillet which was cooked to perfection. My friends both had the asparagus risotto. They said that the ingredients were very fresh and it was the best risotto they had eaten. Coming from 2 Italians who have lived in Milan for 40 plus years, this is certainly worth a mention and is a good indication of the standards of the restaurant. Could not fault the food or the service. I will be dining at the Wine Press again.
I liked everything.

It’s location and it’s history. We were upgraded to a suite however it was obviously meant for a newly married couple so we had rose petals and a congratulations card which hadn’t been removed. Staff were very friendly and helpful
No bottled water in the room. No shower caps supplied We had left our cases at reception at 7.30pm when we arrived and as we had to go straight out to meet friends we asked for them to be taken to our room. This wasn’t done. When we tried phoning reception on our return at 23.00 no one answered. I had to phone on an external line to get a reply. The gentleman on the front desk sent us to the wrong floor when we came in at 23.00 and didn’t know where our room was.

Everything! Staff were lovely! Beds were comfy!! Tv had app access so you can watch all your Netflix Disney plus etc! Breakfast was such good value for money and tasted amazing! Absolutely spot on! Honestly couldn’t fault the hotel and service! As a single female I honestly had no concerns! Also I needed a taxi service and they recommended me a lovely taxi company with easy booking and a tracking service like Uber and the taxi service was such a good company! Don’t hesitate just book!
Honestly I really don’t have anything I didn’t like. Only wish I had stayed longer so I could have tried out the Bentley tour!

Every single member of staff clearly loved working there as their friendliness, professionalism and attentiveness really shined through. Well done and thank you!
I can’t even say it’s what I didn’t like as my feedback (not complaint) was about the parking. Our booking clearly stated “free to hotel guests” yet upon arrival, £8.00 was charged. It’s not unusual for city hotels to charge a fee for onsite parking and we were willing to pay. My grudge was that on our booking it was free, so I just dev this back. They kindly deducted the parking from our bill regardless of the fact we appreciated their marketing team hadn’t played “catch-up” since the new charge was only effective from 1st July. I feel so very Speer for writing this under “what didn’t you like” when this needs to be positioned into “what DID you like” xx
