we had a really lovely stay, everything was amazing food, location, staff, room.& will be back

we stayed in Elton room & there was a terrible smell in the cupboard/wardrobe in the room which you could hardly smell when the door was closed but when you opened it it was poignant & extremely strong. We were unable to hang any clothes up in there (especially because we were attending a wedding) because the smell was so bad. The room was NOT unclean on little bit…we think there might have been a spillage previously.

Breakfast was excellent, and the location was ideal for Burghley House. The staff were first rate and excellent and we were well served by them. If the fates conspire and I am in the area again I will visit again.

Staff were vulnerable to the 'caprices' of the accommodation. The outer door had been shut against me, fortunately the staff were still there at midnight so could let me in. Another couple struggled to get in. This one will test your negotiating skills! Housekeeping had a 'bad day at the office' as there were no towels and one used coffee mug was missed.

Lovely village pub, exceptional food both at dinner and breakfast. Comfortable room and nice bathroom, all has been very tastefully refurbished. There are 3 rooms above the pub and several more in a separate building alongside the car park. The pub shuts at 11pm so there is little noise after then.

The shutters across the windows are in keeping with the modernisation but they don’t allow for the windows to remain open and still provide the right level of darkness. As it was exceptionally hot weather (and both the towel rail and the radiator on the landing outside were belting out heat!) there was no way we could sleep with the windows shut. We did draw attention twice to the radiator (we were able to turn off the towel rail) but it requires a plumber to replace the valve that enables it to be turned off. Something for them to sort out as it’s a huge waste of energy apart from making it too hot. There was also an annoying security light shining into the room. My recommendation would be to try and book one of the rooms in the separate building.

Elton is a very pretty village and the Crown Inn has real character. Our bedroom was very clean and well decorated and appointed. Loved the doors onto our own private patio garden. It was very quiet at night. Appreciated the range of drinks on offer in the room, the mini fridge and the fresh milk for teas etc. The walk in shower was excellent and powerful. We stayed in Wadenhoe room for 4 nights mid March 2022

On our third day the central heating went off without warning. Weather was chilly so we were annoyed that our room got pretty cold while we were out. There was an electric radiator in the room which eventually took the chill off when we returned and turned it on ourselves. There was no real apology for what happened or offer of a drink in the bar or other gesture to show good customer service.

Lovely friendly pub with rooms. Really great beer selection and delicious food last night. Breakfast was triumph this morning. Staff were super helpful and we felt so at ease the whole stay.

Nothing really. Only that I had a ground floor room and it had double doors out to the garden and I didn’t want to open them at night as I was staying alone, but a window would have been good for some fresh air.

Great location. Beautiful building. Friendly staff.

The building has a beautiful dining area in a beautiful building. The breakfast however was served in a small room with no open windows. There were about fifteen of us at the same time to breakfast. It was warm and Ivery stuffy. They served a great breakfast. Is there anyway that the breakfast area can move to the dining room? This is a minor matter and I am bing picky. But is worth considering. Thank you.

lovely room. staff Friday night fab. amazing breakfast.

tv wasn’t connected. unfortunately the lady working on Saturday morning was quite rude and not friendly at all. when we asked a question or requested anything it was met with a sigh or a roll of the eyes. really was a shame as everything else was great.

We enjoyed our stay at the Crown. Location perfect for touring the area and good walks from the doorstep. Great atmosphere in the bar area and the breakfast was fantastic. The room was exceptionally quiet

The heater in the bathroom was faulty so it was too chilly to luxuriate in there.

The location was in such a quiet and picturesque village where the Crown fitted in perfectly. The room that we stayed in was excellent, it was full of character, really clean, well equipped with tea/coffee making facilities and a smart modern bathroom. Downstairs was a bar and dining area(s) that had character and charm, the staff were very polite and professional. Breakfast was in the conservatory which was a great location to enjoy a very good selection of choices, which were locally sourced where applicable (meat, eggs etc).

I enjoyed everything - if being picky, the shower lacked pressure but I guess this is due to the age of the building, so not a complaint.

The room was immaculate and had lots of additions that were much appreciated- water, tea, biscuits. Very comfy beds

Wasn't much to dislike. As it was a Bank Holiday they closed early and it would have been good to have been given some help to find places for a meal that were open.
