Great location just a short walk out of the town centre, so lovely and quiet. Historical building with lots of original features. Very efficient and friendly staff. Excellent local real ales on hand pumps. Always a well presented, tasty breakfast. A Stamford favorite of ours.

Bedroom compact at the rear of the building. Early evening you could hear staff dumping what sounded like bottles, but this quietened down come night time. Rad warm, but the wind had a tendency to blow under the bedroom door making one side of the room cool. Only one bedside lamp.

Staff very friendly, great location. Bed very comfortable, good choice at breakfast. Lots of good quality toiletries in room. Garden to sit in and walk around, lots of different areas and some tables/seats under cover. Film night, good location to watch sky sports. Quality and good variety of tea and coffee in room and fresh milk provided daily. No noise from fridge in room. Warned when booking about extractor fan being outside window, we didn’t find this a problem, noise was minimal and didn’t affect our sleep. Plenty of fresh towels.

Prefer shower to have a second flexible shower head to make it easy to shower without wetting hair; these cut down the amount of time you need to spend in the shower therefore using less water. Took a while to get used to being able to walk pass the wooden end of the bed without banging our knees, we both had a few bruises. Couldn’t open the window in the bedroom although we could open the bathroom window and leaving the bathroom door open helped to cool down the room - it was the hottest week of the year we stayed there!

Fabulous location, quirky room with separate toilet and bathroom were fab, the The bathroom was huge and very nice with a roll top bath and separate shower, the facilities such as the coffee machine, home made cookies, range of drinks, fresh milk and skincare and washing products were brilliant. Fabulous breakfast

The room was a bit dark, the main light was poor. Could do with mirror and light at the desk/dressing table. The wardrobe was very small, we were there for a birthday celebration and nowhere to hang my dress. Apart from that it was fantastic.

The gardens here are lovely. Three separate areas one chock full with herbs, veg and flower beds, which you can also sit and relax amongst. Then there's the covered cinema and dining area and last, but not least, a pretty split level patio garden with plenty of nice places to sit amongst the trees and shrubs. We were fortunate enough to have superb weather during our stay so we sat out both day and night. The staff were so welcoming, friendly and eager to please. We ate dinner at the hotel and it was delicious... Best fish n chips my husband had had for a long while and mine was a delicious plate of faggots & mash. Both highly recommended. Breakfast too was excellent. The hotel is in a quaint part of town, close to the antique centre, the George Hotel and the river, and only a mile down the road from Burleigh House, so fabulous. Bed was super comfy.

Our bedroom was a good size and comfortable, however be aware that if you're at the front of the hotel the road noise may disturb your night's sleep. The room was also very warm due to the nice weather. A fan is however provided. Strangely the fridge is housed in an old wardrobe, leaving no room for longer garments. The bathroom fan didn't seem to work and the toilet roll holder needs replacing. None of these issues however overly affected the enjoyment of our stay.

Right from the moment we arrived at the hotel we were impressed with this beautiful old building but more especially the welcome from the team at the Bull & Swan. We were greeted and checked-in by Paul, who not only made us feel really welcome, he actually introduced himself (very rare for hotel staff to do this!) and even escorted us to our room and provided an overview of its facilities ... excellent service! The room itself was spacious, clean, well appointed and very cosy with a large walk-in waterfall shower in the bathroom. Parking was just up the road (c100m) at their sister hotel, The William Cecil, which is an equally beautiful venue. We were attending a function at the neighbouring Burghley House and the the hotel kindly laid on a golf buggy service to take us part way to Burghley House, which was complimentary and very welcome. Food wise we only ate breakfast at the Bull & Swan, which was very good, with a good variety of choices on offer. In short, we loved Stamford, Burghley House, The William Cecil and Bull & Swan hotels and are already planning a return visit.

If we were really nit-picking, the room was too warm and that was without any heating on and it wasn't that warm outside. But as the ground floor room was right beside the pavement and road, we couldn't open the window, but despite being so close to the road, the noise was minimal.

Nice food at Breakfast, didn't eat there otherwise. Room was very clean, great shower and comfy bed. Warm and quiet at night. Great towels on a very good heated towel rail. Good tea and coffee facilities and fresh cookies!!

Room was a little smaller than expected, very little storage space for clothes. Not a lot of room to move around in the room. Bathroom was a little small. Room was directly above the kitchen which was open at 0530-0600 and was very noisy.

A very quirky hotel. An old building so the floors are slightly uneven in the rooms but we loved that. We had a large room with a large bathroom containing a bath and a large shower. The furnishings were old and lovely. The bed was modern and very comfortable. We ate dinner there on the first night and it was very good, and quite reasonably priced. In the room we had a choice of teas and there was a Nespresso machine with a choice of coffees. There were two delicious freshly-baked cookies on our arrival. The toiletries are good, but are in regular-sized containers so no stealing the shampoos here!! The breakfast offering was good, with the usual choices of pastries, cereals, fruit, juice, yogurt, etc. From the menu there was a full English, or various other choices. Great location, just a five-minute walk down the hill into the centre of beautiful Stamford. The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful throughout.

There was no hand-held option in the shower. There was just a 'rain forest' fixed unit so it was impossible to have a shower without getting my hair wet. There was no spare blanket in the room. There is no telephone in the room, and on the instructions nothing to tell you who/where to call if there was an emergency in the night. All rooms face the main road, so the traffic noise is very apparent. Having said this, it dies down later at night so probably wouldn't affect your sleep. It didn't ours.

Lovely breakfast . The hotel was really accommodating for our dogs, bowls provided as well as dog beds, treats and bags .

We asked for the rooms to be close and we were led to believe this would be ok however upon arrival we were told they were not able to do this. The restaurant was fully booked so we weren’t able to eat dinner at the hotel, there was no menu for room service but we managed to find a dog friendly restaurant nearby.

2 female staff were excellent, service was great and very polite ladies could not do enough for you.

Second and last day of breakfast, breakfast tablet (buffet) was lacking items, bowls juices had to ask for these, and minimal of other items, tea was spilt on table when pot was put down, no acknowledgment from the staff, had to wait until staff came back so could get a second pot of tea. Felt it lacked the over all experience of the morning previous. Probably would of cancelled Second breakfast if got this experience on first breakfast.

The room was very comfortable, especially the bed and pillows. The bathroom was large with walk in shower and claw feet bath. We invited local friends to join us for dinner and all the dishes were very good. The chef and staff dealt with my food allergies with care and understanding. There is an excellent choice for breakfast and this is also freshly prepared. The meals exceeded our expectations and all the staff were friendly and professional.

The restaurant area was very cold as it was a chilly night. We were disappointed that the log burner had not been lit.
