A good, reliable, fairly priced hotel. A healthy breakfast is provided and there is a microwave in the diner for guests to use throughout their stay. Free parking is always good. Staff are helpful. Bedroom and bathroom were nice and clean. Only one hitch, the grab rail at the long side of the bath is fitted incorrectly. Grab rail Bottom screw fitting should be five (5) inches from side of bath edge and laying at a 45 degrees angle (to lower body into and pull up from sitting position in bath), otherwise water splashes over bath edge when struggling to lower body, especially if one has arthritis in knees. Kept bumping into the existing grab rail at side of bath whilst showering and found it difficult/impossible to pull myself up, as was too high. Still a very good stay though.

The incorrectly fitted grab rail. That’s all.

The staff at Redwings are super friendly. They take time to interact with their guests. Very informative of key points. We chose not to have breakfast. But the breakfast area was very clean. We were encouraged to use the microwave and fill up on tea and coffee should we need it.

On entry to the room it did not feel fresh. There was a strange oder, so we opened the windows and that helped. The bathroom was very, very tired. The surface of the bath was stained. We could only use the shower attachments. We couldn’t get the tap to work independently of the shower. Getting into bed, as l sank into the mattress l encountered a smell of stale urine. Knowing the hotel was full we didn’t want to cause a fuss. We slept on top of the duvet. When we left at the end of our stay l mentioned it to the housekeeper. She was mortified and said she would check the room. We could have made a fuss and demanded another room. But the fault did not lie with the staff. Once it was pointed out to them l feel sure they will hopefully change the mattress…….

I thought the staff were very helpful. As always. I am disabled and they always put us on the ground floor. Which is very considerate of them.

A little disappointed in the cleanliness of the bath room. I have to say in all the many times we have used Redwings the bathrooms, whilst need upgrading at least they were clean.this last trip I felt they were not as clean as they might have been. It could be down to the new policy that rooms are not cleaned every day. If guests are staying longer, it just might be that turning round the rooms require a lot more time spent on them.

The Redwings Lodge on the A47 in Rutland is a decently priced motel. It used to be a Travelodge until it changed hands. It's a comfortable stay, with warm rooms, along with a good shower, and it's clean. Having breakfast included is a bonus, even if it's not a full English offering. The staff are very friendly, and nothing is too much trouble. It's very good value for money.

Breakfast is essentially served in the reception area. There are limited tables, so I'm unsure how everyone would manage if every room was occupied and wanted breakfast at the same time. They ideally also need to sort out the parking dispute with the restaurant next door.

I had a three-night stay here on my own. It's great value as some of the more luxurious hotels nearby are 3 times the price. Both receptionists I saw were friendly. The hotel is a former Travelodge. The rooms are huge with a large double bed and a pull-out sofa bed. The bathroom has a short bath with a shower over it. The bed was fairly firm and I slept well. There is a really big desk, and the Wi-Fi was fast and reliable. There are tea and coffee-making facilities in each room, but there are also free hot drinks available at any time in reception. Breakfast is included It’s cereals, toast, yoghurt, and fruit. The hotel was fully booked when I was staying there, with a mix of tourists and contractors working in the area. Other than an old stain on the carpet, the room was spotlessly clean. It wasn’t cleaned over the three days that I was there, but that didn’t bother me at all. There is a large hanging rail and plenty of shelves for clothes. Upon booking, I asked for a room upstairs at the back, so that it was quieter, and my request was accommodated. There is a petrol station with shop next door, along with an Indian restaurant. Although on a fairly busy road, I found the rooms to be quiet. The hotel feels quite remote, and there is very little to see/do/eat in Murcott the nearest village. Other than the adjacent takeaway, the nearest place to get any food is Uppingham, a small town about 3 miles away. There is a co-op that opens late and a Premier Store. I wanted to try the Silver Fish Bar fish and chip shop, but it closed early both nights I was there. I tried two different Chinese takeaways. Wings is good, but Fortune Corner was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend that. Zorbas also good for burgers, chips, and kebab. There are numerous nearby villages, with a good choice of pubs, many of which serve food, though bear in mind, some only serve food on certain days of the week.

The hotel is a little dated and basic and would benefit from additional plug sockets around the desk and next to both sides of the bed. There are 40 rooms at the hotel, but there isn’t much allocated parking, so be aware you may need to park on the mud/grass in front of the hotel or just on the entrance access road

The rooms are very spacious! I was on the ground floor which was a bonus. The bed was very comfy! I loved that not only were there tea and coffee making facilities in the room, there were also additional tea/coffee facilities available 24 hours at the breakfast area. Never had to worry about running out of supplies!

To be honest, the room was mostly just a base - a place to sleep - so there wasn’t really anything to dislike? I was there for 3 nights and the only slight issue I had was with the tv reception on my last morning! I was checking out soon after so it was no loss.

Room was quiet and comfy, did like the touch of signs on public doors eg stairs and corridors reminding people to be considerate for other hotel users about noise. Buffet help yourself breakfast was good, juices cereal, yoghurt, toast and jam, glad we got up early as I'm sure it would have got busy and maybe not enough seating would have been available. .

Parking was available but make sure you don't park in the spaces for the restaurant next door as they have anpr cameras.. Not a lot of parking available and told you can park on the grass, our car would not be able to get over the kerbs and the amount of wet weather...... would we get off! We ended up parking on the road entrance to hotel. Pitch black on the entrance off the road so you cannot see the massive pot holes till you hit them with such force when even going slow. They was so deep they damaged the body work of the car. Apart from parking a good stay

Very impressed by the bedrooms, spacious, clean, comfortable, warm. Bed linen and towels were lovely and soft. Bathroom had bath with shower over, shower gel and hand wash gel, plenty of loo roll. Shower hot and good pressure for decent shower. Tea and coffee supply was good. Lovely and peaceful outside with great countryside views from bedrooms. Complimentary continental breakfast was mega, plenty of choices and help yourself to as much as you wanted. Limited seating but can take breakfast back to room. Staff were very good, pleasant and helpful, nothing was too much. Would definitely stay again and can recommend it highly. Value is impressive for what you get....puts major hotel chains to shame for value and facility considering basic needs for an overnight stay. Our dog was treated very kindly and given a treat on booking in, she had plenty of area outside to sniff around and outdoor benches are supplied to sit at while she was doing her thing!!😁

Room decor is a little dated (artex ceiling), could do with an update but that's just being picky!! Could do with maybe a hairdryer in the room but not essential......otherwise nothing to complain about.

Breakfast was as expected. A little more choice would be good, eg pastries [cold meats and cheese probably too much to expect?). Room: OK

Bathroom door: no latch or lock working Shower: no temperature control via tap mixing. If cold tap is even just cracked open, the water flow is fully cold. So in fact the water is a little too hot. TV: a couple of channels failed during one evening - we suspect this is more signal weakness than fault of the set Parking on the grass must get muddy on rainier days than hours One towel was inadequately laundered Number of electrical sockets is limited
