Excellent dog friendly pub/restaurant and room's Solid service standard. Cleanliness amazing. Love the sofa bar and log burner

Unfortunately no room on the groundloor for bedrooms. I have major accessibility issues and can only just manage those steps to the bedroom. As my mobility gets worse I don't think I will be able to manage the stairs next time, so unfortunately rules us out coming back. 😳🤨❤️ Fingers crossed for them to be able to fit in a accessible bedroom with walk in shower, as I think it will be good business sense and advertising advantage for you. We often pay 10-15% more for our room, which is fine for us as we recognise the owners commitments to satisfying our needs. 😃👍😉🤗❤️

The ambiance, the staff and the food were excellent. The choice for breakfast was impressive.

Nothing was really wrong, these points are all in keeping with the pricing but some things could be improved. (1) Bits of the room and bathroom needed a more thorough clean -- or possibly redecoration (2) Some of the plastering was not as good as it could be -- previous repairs showed, or difficult corners lacked finesse in the workmanship. (3) I noticed some flickering from the uplighters in the restaurant -- doesn't affect me, but I know some people who would find it really difficult to live with.

Breakfast was excellent, plenty to eat and very well presented. We had the full Yorkshire every day. The hotel is very Pet friendly we even had a smaller dining room where we could have Breakfast and evening meals with our dog. The staff are very friendly, and the well-stocked bar keeps a good pint. There is a nice garden with great views to sit out in on an evening.

Nothing it was all good and we look forward to staying there again in the future.

Great location, excellent facilities, and exceptional staff. The food was very good, both breakfast and evening meal. A relaxing location close to the coast and North Yorks moors always outstanding natural beauty. Whitby and Scarborough are around 40 mins away, so a good contrast to the moors. Would certainly look to stay again as the location is so central to plenty of things to see and do

Good breakfast with a very wide choice. Lovely dining room, helpful staff. Bedroom on the smaller side but apart from there being only one chair, it was very comfortable. Excellent toilet facilities. Lovely view. Suggestion: Open up the view on the south side of the restaurant by making a new car park on the grassed area adjacent to the lane and preventing parking which currently impedes the view.

Perhaps a little more attention to detail especially just outside of the immediate surroundings. Eg damaged seat next to main entrance. Mirror propped up against wall at the base of the stairs. Taped carpet joint. Untidy bin area at back. It could be better screened. The sort of things that Alex Polittzi would single out. These are minor things which would turn 'very good' into excellent, as far as I am concerned.

Location is great...set away above Pickering on the shoulder of the moors. Staff were great, beer was good. Room was warm, food was EXCELLENT!!! Saturday night Restaurant was busy and service was great.

Sunday evening..Restaurant was empty & cold, (2nd night),with strange group of 10 folk who brought in their own food, loaves of bread & rolls of kitchen paper, then all sat away in one corner with tables pushed together. Completely at odds with the style, price, ambience etc of the place.

The Hosts were fantastic. The evening meal I had there (steak) was cooked to perfection, rare is not easy to do well. The full yorkshire breakfast certainly set me up for the day. They went out their way to ensure breakfast was made early for me as I had a place to be at a specific time both mornings.

Perhaps a larger table in bedroom so i could use laptop on, minor though.

We had breakfast and evening meal, both excellent, all the staff were really friendly and the room was clean and tidy, the location is excellent and sitting outside was extremely peaceful and in a lovely setting.

We felt the check iin time was rather late at 3.30pm as we will be staying again but in the winter months especially its going to be dark and we always like to get checked in before then and it would have been better to have a room at the back of the property as other guests were outside drinking til around midnight (and we do go to bed for usually around 10pm ) on the outside patio which was quite noisy and we were unable to sleep even with the window closed but saying that our room was right above there so it was inevitable that we could hear the noise but would still go again but would request a room at the back.

Evening meals superb, great choice and quality, quantity and well presented. Good value for money. Would highly recommend eating in . Staff were very helpful, friendly and clearly interested in their guests and attentive to their customers. Great rural location but close to Pickering too. Loads of parking at hotel. Well managed grounds with nice outdoor seating ares to take in the views. Bed was very comfy and good water pressure showers and baths. Well appointed small bar with reasonable prices for drinks.

No issues at all just a suggestion would be to remove the bar stools and bar type tables to create a bit more normal seating areas in the lounge/ foyer area as these were unusable for older customers. If the L shape sofa was in use it gave nowhere to sit and have a drink indoors. In contrast to dinner, breakfast (still had a good choice) had a slight budget feel. Would suggest using some of the excellent local bacon and sausages, no tinned mushrooms and choice of local bread
