Everything about this hotel was excellent the rooms were tastefully decorated, exceptionally clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. Breakfast was very tasty and plentiful and the location was brilliant plus the added bonus of a parking space. We came to Pickering to say goodbye to a dear friend and the funeral wake was held at the hotel and catered by Jill the owner and the food was delicious and especially the lemon drizzle cake. We would come and stay here again in a heart beat every one was so welcoming and friendly thank you so much .

The gem of the Black Swan is the owner/manager who is passionate about her business and makes the guests all feel that they matter. The room was very clean and comfortable, the hospitality tray was generous with plenty of quality tea, coffee and hot chocolate and biscuits and there were toiletries provided in the bathroom. the quality of bedding and cushions etc was excellent. The breakfast was lovely...excellent quality and generous...there was no sense of having to pick between various options, we could have all and everything that we wanted. The location was perfect for us.

I feel mean saying that the price was on the high side...we changed our choice of accommodation at the last minute and we were staying on a Saturday in August...so of course we were not going to get a bargain...and the hotel needs to make a profit and we really liked the owner and loved her whole attitude and generosity...but I have never paid that much for B&B before...so I am conflicted but, if you are reading this, don't be put off...book in advance and not on a Saturday in high season and you may feel you have excellent value for money!!!

We booked a.superior room which was.lovely and comfortable very spacious and although on the main road it's a quiet road and was very peaceful .It was a bit of a trek to the room up and down stairs round landings but definitely all worth it when you get there. The staff were all great and couldnt do enough for you. The girls waiting on the tables in the evening were brilliant I dont think you could ask for better Had a very nice breakfast .all food was of a good quality piping hot and tasty and.olenty we didnt need to eat again until late afternoon. We would definitely stay here again it was just what we needed for a quiet little get away

The food in the pub was very nice but quite a small.menu and not many options. Although some of that is down to personal choice. What we did have was delicious the steak almost melted in your mouth and whilst not cheap you get what you pay for in terms of.quality. we.maybe.would have liked mushrooms or something with the steak rather than just the garnish but as said when we had was fabulous. My oh had a dessert the sticky toffee pudding not something I choose but I had a taste and it was.lovely.

The location is absolutely perfect - within the town centre opposite the church - you couldn't ask for a better location. The standard of the decoration and fittings is very good, the carpets are lovely and soft to walk on and the standard of cleanliness is also excellent. Whilst the physical fabric is extremely good, the staff make the Black Swan exceptional. I was welcomed very warmly, registration was very quick and smooth, the bar staff are very friendly and the chef's scrambled eggs are to die for. I would highly recommend the Black Swan.

There was nothing about the Black Swan that I didn't not like.

Our early arrival of 1pm was greeted by Gill who explained that although the check in time was 4pm we would be welcomed by 3pm. After a lunch and a stroll around in a place we've been visiting since 1963 we were shown to an excellent room (3) which looked newly decorated with plenty of storage, well stocked tea/coffee etc facilities and a bathroom (with bath) and toiletries supplied. We both slept well in the comfortable double bed. Dinner on both evening was taken in the dining room at 6pm with a menu offering reduced portions if required. After an excellent 2 course meal on the first night we chose the reduced portions on the second night and included a starter. Breakfasts were taken early with a menu offering both full English and continental, including porridge much to my wife's delight. During our stay we were served by six different staff, all very professional and friendly, and when time permitted all were happy to chat. Since the first Covid lockdown in March 2020 we've spent more time in Pickering than usual, often calling in at the Black Swan for a drink. This was our first overnight stay here and we'll be happy to stay again on our next visit to Pickering. The position of the hotel is central to the Pickering shopping area, the North Yorkshire Moors Steam railway, the Kirk theatre and the North Yorkshire Moors.

Nothing.

The hotel was extremely comfortable, clean and the staff all friendly and accommodating. The Breakfast was amazing, all locally sourced ingredients for a delicious cooked breakfast! Our evening meal was superb, beautifully presented and extremely tasty. Our room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. Location perfect for exploring Pickering, and beyond, thanks to the railway, we didn’t use our car for two days! Bonus 🤩

The room was clean, warm and comfortable and we both slept well in a comfortable bed. Breakfast was great with generous portions of well cooked food. Dinner was excellent.

There was no welcome pack in the room so no info on attractions in the area. There was a selection of toiletries but no hand soap. Breakfast service was strange in that cereals and juices had to be ordered, not readily avaialble as in most places we've stayed.

Superb location with secure free parking. In the Heart of the town. But very quiet at night for sleeping. Has been recently updated to a high standard. If you enjoy something a little bit more. Then this ticks the box. Friendly staff. Good choice of Bar drinks. Very nice rooms, with high-quality products. Very comfortable. Had evening meal which was to an excellent standard. Also was the breakfast. Looking at booking another stay.

Nice property in the centre of Pickering, run by a very friendly couple and their son. The property was really clean, nicely decorated and the bar/restaurant had a very good atmosphere. Nice outside space and large car park behind the hotel. The breakfasts were excellent.

We arrived on a Thursday and unfortunately the restaurant was closed due to staff shortages, so we didn't have chance to eat there, other than for breakfast. However we had a drink on Friday evening and the food looked very good and both the restaurant & bar area were very busy. The bed was not as comfortable as we would have liked.

A very nice place, much better than the website suggests. Breakfast very good, lots of choice and they didn’t mind me having fruit and then cereal instead of a cooked breakfast. We had a triple room which was very clean, nice bed linen and decent towels, nice carpet I was happy to tread on barefooted. We had a small table and two comfortable chairs in the room, presumably there would be a third chair if there were 3 occupants. Very friendly, helpful staff who even invited us to join them for a drink at their “staff meeting”! Good value for very reasonable price.

Like most hotels, not much space to hang wet towels. Bed quite comfortable but found the mattress was a bit ‘solid’ and personally I wasn’t keen on having a feather duvet. Really good that there was a car park but a bit tight for manoeuvring if you have a biggish car.
