We loved everything. The owners were so lovely and welcoming. The room was spotless , had a mini bar if you wished to use it with a bottle of fresh milk . There was some gorgeous brownie waiting for us , we could have eaten a whole tray . The bed was very comfortable and the pillows woww I wanted to put them in my suitcase and bring them home . The breakfast the next morning was fantastic. Couldn't really fault anything

There was nothing really to dislike . We didn't realise the room wouldn't be serviced on our 2nd day but that was nothing really

Beautiful location in a quiet village with a very good pub/restaurant nearby for evening meals, which Dawn kindly booked for us. Easy parking at the back of the inn. The room is freshly decorated and clean and bright. All other facilities are of the standard you would expect. There is a minibar fridge for keeping milk fresh for tea making. Bed was comfortable and the breakfast was well cooked and prepared just as we ordered. The staff were very friendly, helpful and looked delighted to see us.

The access to the room is a short steep staircase as you would expect in an old inn, but it is fine unless you have mobility problems. And again, as you would expect in an inn, there is a background hum of noise from the customers in the pub.

Pleasant and professional reception from John, who was willing to help cart our ridiculous amount of luggage up to the room with us, and put up with our fussy dogs. There was a sitting room too, we had been in the car all day and it was good to be able to sit separately for a bit. Lovely big room, comfy bed, crisp white bed linen, nice bathroom, good lighting, accessible plug sockets, we were delighted with it. Quite possibly one of the best cooked breakfasts that I have ever had, 10/10, and John and Dawn were so cheerful and kind too (extra sausages for the dogs 😊) We were also able to charge the car overnight, which was much appreciated, and John helped us get all that luggage back to the car again in the morning, going above and beyond We loved hearing the owls hooting, there seemed to be quite a few calling from various directions, and the stars were amazing, a real treat as city dwellers

Owners extremely helpful and even popped over to let us in despite being at least 2 hours early! much appreciated. They kindly booked us a table at the Swan along the road - about 5 mins walk, if that. Breakfast was marvellous even though we both chose the cereal/toast option - the cooked options looked great. Room was absolutely beautiful and lovely and fresh and clean. Shower was perfect - towels soft and fluffy. Plenty of extras available - tea/cofee etc plus the bonus of a "mini-bar" in the small fridge. Excellent all round - you will miss a treat if you don't go!!

Nothing to dislike at all - smashing couple, great location and great service/facilities.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was comfortable. The extra touch of some cake was very welcome! It was also a nice surprise to have a small fridge with mini-bar in the room. My only niggle (and it is really a small one) was that the hotel bar were only serving one option for food on the night I was staying so I ended up eating elsewhere in the evening which was a shame. They made up for it though with a very tasty breakfast in the morning!

Ampleforth and the surrounding area are beautiful. The inn was centrally located and the bedroom was very comfortable with everything you might need, including a mini fridge. The breakfast was very good. Unfortunately, as the chef had left, evening meals were limited.

We stayed for 2 nights and the room was not valeted during our stay, so the milk in the mini fridge was not replenished, although I am sure it would have been if we had asked. However, when we first arrived, the room was spotless. Also, for the time of year, the room was rather chilly.

The property is set in a beautiful location - a chocolate-box village which gives peace and tranquility in bucket-loads. We received a lovely, warm, friendly welcome and were more than looked after during our stay. We had a beautiful room with an extremely comfortable and huge bed coupled with ample tea/coffee options, and a well stocked mini-bar which was a pleasant and unexpected surprise. The bathroom was really well appointed and everything was spotlessly clean. Our breakfast gave plenty of options and was beautifully cooked and really tasty. We're already planning a return visit.

Absolutely Nothing. We couldn't fault it. Looking forward to returning.

Beautiful bedroom with plush carpets and new ensuite facilities. Nice extra touches - fresh brownies and a bottle of milk for making tea/coffee. Plentiful cooked breakfast with locally sourced items - served fresh and hot. Brilliant service from Dawn and John.

Couple of small things - stairs up to the room are narrow and steep (18th century venue)- not for anyone who is not fit or larger frame. Someone was smoking in the building and the bedroom had cigarette smoke wafting in for hours at night. Partner was served out of date bottled beer in the bar.

The stay at the Whitehorse Inn was excellent. Despite the pub not being open for dinner, John drove me to another village pub where I could have my meal and he collected me afterwards at an agreed time. John and Dawn offer an amazing experience making sure I was comfortable at all times and offering probably the best full English breakfast ever. I want to return so my wife can enjoy the experience as well. Plus its situated in an amazing part of the countryside

The accommodation was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast was so big I asked them to half it. The owner and his wife were very friendly also Albert the barman ,when we ate there the food was very good.

I think the pub should open more but it is only a small village and I think the staff is very difficult to find. But overall we had a great stay.
