Stunning views, a real winter wonderland when I stayed. Perfect for dog owners too. Delicious cooked breakfast. Just be careful if you're here to enjoy the idyllic winter wonderland getaway...if it's snowy or icy, be very careful driving as it's in a very remote village, located on a steep road. I struggled to get my car out onto the road with the icy conditions, but thankfully the helpful manager was on hand to advise me to wait for it to thaw a bit, and he also kindly put some grit down to melt some of the icy patches. Thanks to him for also quickly solving the problem with the shower. Enjoyed a cosy pint in front of the roaring log fire in the evening, while the dog enjoyed being entertained by the friendly staff.

staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and in good condition. the beds were comfortable and the evening meal was very nice.

the breakfast was not to my taste. There was plenty of traditional cooked breakfast items, eggs, sausage, bacon etc. I would have preferred a lighter breakfast (omelette, scrambled egg or fruit and plain yogurt) banana, melon, kiwi, strawberries, blueberries. I realise I did not make a request to have this breakfast and for this reason I have not reduced my overall rating. On my next visit I will request a lighter breakfast.

Staff were great, new management are currently experiencing teething troubles and staffing problems, but every shortfall we encountered was met politely and more than adequately by a manager who wants to make a difference. As an aside, I have never had a better breakfast in my life.

Website is out of date and a little misleading, but again I'd say that's down to the new management catching up. It was a little more remote than we expected, but a beautiful location nonetheless.

Staff were very friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Room was clean with very comfortable bed. Excellent shower with very hot water. Plenty of tea and coffee in the room. Free Wi-fi and a decent little TV - I didn't use it. Warm room and there was always a lovely log fire in the bar. Views from the room were amazing. Food is excellent! Portions are more than adequate and priced very fairly. Breakfast is also excellent. I would happily stay again.

Only one thing. I got the room over the kitchen so the peace ended around 7am when the loud extractor fan was switched on and the pots and pans are banged around. Shame because it was a great room otherwise.

At first we thought it was a lot further out of town than we expected, but it was only about 15 mins from Pickering. Being set right in the moors was an absolute bonus. The views, the peace and tranquillity were just amazing. So beautiful. We have fallen in love with it. Food and service was great. Buffet breakfast as great and the Evening meals were huge, and delicious. Would not hesitate to recommend it.

Dogs being allowed in to the bar area, even when people were eating. One dog came running in when I was at the bar paying for our meals, and started jumping up on me. Next night we were moved into the breakfast area after someone came in with their dog which started barking and yelping. The staff didn't hesitate to relocate us when I asked.

Breakfast was plentiful and the cooked food was delicious. Maybe some buns, rather than packet breads, but otherwise is was great. The rooms are bright and pretty. Tea and coffee in the rooms was supplied, with biscuits. Staff were very welcoming and friendly.

Unfortunately they couldn't supply food in the first two evenings, due to lack of staff. We had to go out to eat. However, the restaurant close by was very good.

The location of this property is stunning, the view are just brilliant, on a hillside overlooking a valley. The rooms were very clean and had everything you could need for your stay,a very good hospitality tray,good selection of tea and coffee and biscuits. Breakfast in the morning was self service, good selection of local produce,the cooked breakfast was excellent, nice selection too for cereal and fruit, tea and coffee on had all the time and staff very friendly and helpful.

One very minor thing,could do with black out curtains in the rooms at the front of property as the flood lights do light up the room over night.

Very spacious room in a lovely country inn in an exceptionally beautiful location. Despite appearing to be understaffed, a problem common to many similar businesses, the staff were polite and friendly Breakfasts and evening meals were excellent and bar stocked a good range of beer and wines We had a thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Bar and restaurant were shut on Sunday evening and all day Monday due to lack of staff. Shower in bathroom was a bit old fashioned

All the Staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for you even though theywere short staffed, the food was very good and the chef was spot on with all the meals. Good selection of drinks and a lovely location.

The only things that could do with improvement is the Shower , very temperamental and difficult to get to the right temperature. Maybe the rooms could do with being made up each day including topping up drinks and biscuits, (this could of been because they were short staffed).

The location and the views were outstanding. The food was delicious. The beds were very comfortable. The staff were super friendly and helpful.

First room the bed wasn't made up which was a honest oversight. The girls immediately gave us a larger room which was slightly in need of a touch up and had a cracked window glass. The bathroom was very small. But would definitely stay again.
