Perfect location for Helmsley Castle, walled gardens, national centre for birds of prey and eating places. Accommodation very good and clean - great shower and useful fridge,

Initial parking and access to Stilworth House from the rear was slightly confusing for us - maybe we missed something in the guidance instructions. The host was very helpful in showing us how to proceed as soon as we met her. Useful space could be enhanced by furniture changes: remove large wardrobe, smaller chest of drawers, move fridge so it doesn't block the window, and provide another two electric sockets.

Super friendly host Carol makes you feel like a family friend. Everywhere absolutely spotlessly clean, which is always reassuring when you're staying away. Excellent location tucked away, with private parking, yet a minute's walk away from the centre of Hemsley. Awesome breakfast tailored to preference. Nothing seemed too much trouble. Perfect in every way. I would heartily recommend and will definitely be visiting again.

There were no negatives.

We would have rated the property as excellent but the the room was very small and rather cramped. It was not possible for example to sit comfortably in the two chairs. However in every other way everything was excellent. Carol was very helpful; the breakfast could not be surpassed; and the room was exceptionally clean and very well resourced. The position of the house is brilliant being a couple of minutes walk from the centre of Helmsley.

Just the size of the room.

Fabulous location, the accommodation was spotlessly clean with some lovely touches such as fresh milk in the fridge, biscuits on the tea tray, little sweets, and chocolate by the bed on arrival. As for the hosts, Carol and Frank, they couldn't do enough for you, so friendly and helpful, with a 5 star breakfast you couldn't get better anywhere else and we will definitely be back. Thank you both xx

Nothing to not like

This beautiful house is right in the centre of Helmsley a few minutes walk from the main square and next to the castle and walked garden. Carol, the host, was very friendly and helpful. We didn't have breakfast, so I can't comment on it but imagine it will have been a hearty Yorkshire breakfast. Beautiful gardens right outside the door. Linen was very clean and tea, coffee, fresh milk and chocolate HobNobs provided in the room, along with a little fridge. Good hot shower as well.

Nothing I didn't like - would have had breakfast if it had been served a little later - only served between 8-9am. It was just a bit early for us because of the nature of our visit.

Lovely B&B in a superb location in Helmsley, a short walk to the square and a short walk to the walled garden. Breakfast was delicious and the owner, Carol, couldn’t have done more for us. Fresh milk in the room fridge daily was a nice touch. There was also a parking space for our use, saving on car-parking fees. Each of the 3 rooms has its own door leading onto the garden, so it’s very private and feels quite secluded, even in the heart of Helmsley.

We were in the twin room, and the door to the bathroom was very creaky. Carol mentioned she plans on replacing it soon.

Lovely, warm hosts. So friendly and helpful, was made to feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. Room was clean and homely and in keeping with its setting. Breakfast was tasty with plenty of variety. Just what we needed for our walk through the beautiful countryside. Thankyou Carol for making our stay so enjoyable.

I received a very warm welcome from Carol and I was led to a garden room which meant access at any time, without going through the main house. The double room was certainly an adequate size for two, but for myself travelling alone, it was plenty big enough. It was very nicely furnished and decorated, spotlessly clean and comfortable. The shower room was modern, well lit and well equipped with soap, shampoo and conditioner dispensers and lovely thick towels on a warming rail. A kettle was accompanied by plentiful supplies of teas, coffee and fresh milk in a small fridge. A biscuit barrel was a welcome addition! The breakfast was first class, with an excellent selection of cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurts and a really hearty full English breakfast with toast and jam/marmalade, cafetiere of coffee or pot of tea with extra hot water - something to leave anybody satisfied and ready for a walk round the lovely town of Helmsley - and it is literally 2 minutes walk to the town square. The private on-site parking was a big bonus for me. Owner Carol obviously takes great pride in her lovely guesthouse and the service offered. I don't believe you could find better. Location is excellent, and with parking - which can be a challenge in Helmsley. Hosts, Carol and Frank were brilliant - nothing too much trouble, friendly and welcoming. Breakfasts were tasty. Facilities in the room were super, with the room and bathroom being very clean. So good we booked again.

Stilworth house is in the heart of Helmsley, an absolutely gorgeous town. Our host Carol was wonderful, the breakfast was amazing. Our room was perfect for us and it's situation in the centre of town meant that we could pop in and drop off any shopping etc. Carol gave us excellent recommendations including things to see and places to eat. We absolutely adored the town and are planning our return (hopefully with other family members!). Can highly recommend this wonderful b&b.

The wi-fi wasn't particularly strong in our room but was great in the garden. After the initial frustration it actually turned into a good thing as it kept us off our phones (and me off sneakily looking at work email). I can't help but think this helped contribute to our fantastic time in Helmsley and our stay at Stilworth.
